I think people are going to be disappointed when Eloy only hits .260-.275. I don't think he's always going to hit 45+ HR but I think 35+ is a safe bet. I think .265/.340/.900+ with 35-45 HRs is where he settles in. Still a very good offensive player but not an MVP candidate. Prime JD Martinez, he is not. That is what I think the fanbase expects from him. This is, of course if his power isn't affected by his injury.
-
That's where you and I disagree. I'm not as much of a fan of Eloy's hit tool as you (and most)
-
Of course they won't. I don't think Eloy has much value league wide. I think 2019 Soler is what Eloy will settle in as.
-
I've always been the low man on Eloy. To me, Eloy is Jorge Soler with a few more hits.
-
Eloy isn't the difference between them being contenders for the playoffs or not.
-
That includes the teams that finished with 30 or more wins. They were all mediocre at best.
-
In 2018-19 that would have gone out anyway. The ball just doesn't come off his bat the same way.
-
Look at his barrel %, avg EV, max EV and hard hit % in 2018-19 vs 2020-21. How else do you explain this other than covid?
-
Even in 2018 the ball exploded off his bat. It doesn't happen anymore. What's the most logical explanation? That ability just doesn't disappear at age 25.
-
Yes, and covid affects everyone the same way...... I believe it has altered the trajectory of Moncada's career.
-
I'm not sure anyone other than the Dodgers or Padres has a realistic chance to win the WS this year. Whichever team comes out of the NL will win. The gap between LA/SD and the remainder of baseball is massive. The AL is wide open.
-
They're just not good enough, man. They're slightly better than the team they destroyed in 2016. This roster wins 85 games or so max even with Eloy. I'm not sure they win 80 games without him.
-
I thought that Moncada's 2019 was sustainable because he was hitting missiles everywhere. Did I think he'd hit .300 again, no. But I did expect about .280 with 30 HRs. It seems like his bat speed and power is gone. He had elite bat to ball skills. No more. I don't know if covid is to blame or not, but I lean toward probably. Even in 2018 he was hitting missiles when he made contact. That just doesn't disappear at 25 years old if there isn't something else going on.

Of course we don't. They really need to fire Hahn and blow this thing up ASAP though. Let some of the younger guys establish themselves or bust, and trade the good ones away. Hahn must be held accountable.
-
Its unfortunate, but everyone of the young/young vet players that supposedly broke out in 2019-20, as it turns out just had a career year/year and a half with the lone exception of Giolito. It sucks that they rebuilt just to end up right back where they were in 2016. If Robert breaks out they can get a king's ransom for him though. Hahn should not get the opportunity to fix this but he will, because White Sox.

-
He hasn't had a bad PA all day....so far. Encouraged about what I saw from him today.
-
It's really too bad that Hahn couldn't pry Meadows and Glasnow from Pittsburgh for Quintana in 2016-17.
-
They probably need to save Kopech and Crochet for tomorrow's 2nd game.
-
Why is Grandal riding pine? Yes I get he sucks right now but it's not like Collins is much better.
-
Opinion: Moncada is caught in between being too passive and too aggressive with no middle ground. Also, he's getting killed on offspeed/breaking stuff right now. He's hit one breaking ball (the HR off Keller) hard all year. Part of the reason why I believed in his 2019 being relatively repeatable is because he was hitting lasers all over the field. Not happening anymore.
-
Jose is the leader by example and Tim is the vocal/emotional leader. You need both guys.
-
Abreu and Moncada have the same amount of hits.
-
They just suck, bro.
-
Yeah I want the guy to be good as much as anyone, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree.
