There's a lot of above average (when healthy) position players here but no real game changers outside of Cease and maybe Kopech on the pitching side. 2 pitchers ain't going to cut it, they needed a superstar position player and all they got was above average and injured.

Those teams also have an analytics dept and farm system worth a damn, and they invest heavily in both. I still believe David Samson because it completely fits the MO of the org. My whole problem with Jerry is that he won't pick a damn lane. If you want to have a limit on individual player contracts, spending on analytics and scouting is a must. They have a 194M payroll this year, and I wouldn't mind if it was $170M if they took that extra $25M and invested it properly into baseball ops. As an owner, you can't have a limit on player contracts and be the most frugal org in the game in scouting, player development, and analytics.

They don't on total payroll but they do for individual players.

I'm to the point of openly rooting for losses. They need a wake up call. If they finish with fewer wins than the 2016 team hopefully that does it.

It seems that the 2019 breakouts were all sticky stuff/bouncy ball related. Once those things were no longer allowed, certain players are no longer good at baseball. It also seems while Eloy does have a lot of raw power, his game power was also inflated by the bouncy ball in 2019.

By 2009 I despised Kenny but I begrudgingly think that he did far better with what Jerry gave him than Hahn ever has. This is from a guy that doesn't want to give him one iota of credit. Speaks to how terrible Hahn is.
