9/17: Sox at DET, game 2 (5:10c/6:10e)
They really don't have room in the budget for anything better and there aren't really any decent MI options outside of Correa/Turner and those aren't happening.

My thoughts on where they should go from here is the following: Let Abreu walk, sign a 5th starter, bring back Andrus, Call up Colas asap. Give them until the ASB to get their s%*# together. If they can't stay healthy or do that, start blowing up the team in July by trading Lynn/Anderson/Giolito and then continue dismantling in winter 2023.

Exactly. And I hate to break it to you, a $200M payroll isn't enough to fix this team. I don't think Jerry's budget will be anywhere close to that for next year. I'm thinking $175M.

Twins are a bad team. The wheels have come off.

3/5 of the rotation was injured, bad or both the majority of the season. Kopech was blessed by the BABIP/HR gods in April and May.

It's been a part of it, yeah. This season has been a total failure from top to bottom. No area has been immune.

Yeah, ST as a whole needs to severely temper their expectations for this winter. Even if they let Abreu walk, they can probably only bring in someone like Quintana/Manaea and bring Andrus back for MI. Conforto and Nimmo are a pipedream.

The team is on the field. They can't afford one and stay in Jerry's budget.

I know.

No, I mean they're not going to slow down. Remember the year when the Rockies went 22-7 to end the season? They're about to do something like that.

I think they're going to end up signing Manaea for 5th starter.

I know, and I think it will continue. Expecting them to end the Sox season on Tuesday.

I have a feeling Cleveland is about to go on an insane heater. This season is ova.

It's weird that Davis Martin has better stats in the Majors than he does in AAA. Goes to show how much of a bandbox Charlotte is.

It's to keep the fans engaged and wanting more, while never delivering. Meanwhile, the fans try to convince themselves that the FO did enough.

Cease and Eloy only have 3 and 4 years of control left. If you're trading players, why exclude your most valuable ones? There's no urgency to trade them now but they should at least not hang up the phone when another team calls on them. Cease is now a Boras guy with 3 years of team control. I don't see the Sox winning a championship while either Cease or Eloy are here, so I think everyone is a trade chip at this point. Try to rehab the overpaid underperformers, and trade those with value at their peak.

The game won against Cleveland yesterday has been squandered already. Le sigh.

AL Central Standings Thread
Sox pretty much have to go 3-1 against Cleveland or sweep. Not afraid of the Twins anymore, they're dropping like a rock.

Does it make sense to be a team sports fan?
I think the newer generations have sports fandom right. Root for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the name on the front. The on-field talent is why we watch the games.
