  1. Yeah, you need a nice sipping tequila to consume White Sox baseball from time to time.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I despised the pick when it happened for that reason. He is a huge project and as such, was incredibly overdrafted. Trubisky shouldn't have been a 1st round pick. He is the most inexperienced QB to ever be taken top 10. The only one even as close to as inexperienced as Trubisky to be drafted that high was Akili Smith in 1999, and he had 20 games of college experience. We all know how that worked out. Mitch would have been a good pick at 45 where they picked Shaheen. He was an absolutely awful pick in the top 10, and I could at least defend it in the last 5 picks of the 1st round. Watson and Mahomes were higher on my board, though I didn't think much of either of them at the time, I thought they were both defensible 1st rounders, albeit outside the top 10. Mitch is absolutely a 3+ year project and it was indefensible to pick him where they did, let alone give up the draft capital that they did. Blame Pace for the severe overdraft, don't blame Mitch for his inexperience. It isn't making excuses, it's just the reality of the situation. If you want to point fingers, point them at Pace. Trubisky probably shouldn't have been playing last year. This is Pace's problem, not Trubisky's. It isn't his fault he was severely overdrafted. Trubisky is really talented, but the inexperience screws everything up. And there are questions about him not being able to beat a QB that didn't get a NFL camp invite for his first three years at UNC too. I don't have questions about his work ethic or talent, I have questions about his brain. I also admit that the last paragraph is a longshot, but it isn't impossible.
  3. That's pretty reasonable. I agree that Mitch will need more time because of the inexperience. The huge issue is that the Bears are ready to win now and Mitch isn't ready to win yet. There was a metric shit ton of hyperbole from everyone, myself included last night because it was so damn disappointing. Props to you for keeping a level head, but that is really hard to do (for me especially) in-game and immediately post-mortem(on a loss is what I mean here) CWS, we're fans. We don't have to keep a level head 100% of the time. That's not what fans do. In-game is the hardest for me. Some of the shit I say isn't communicated the best, in the moment when I'm incredibly disappointed and pissed. When I said they would be the Jaguars from last year, I meant if they continue to play as poorly as they did last night. Sometimes I miss qualifiers like that, and my posts get misinterpreted because of that. I need to be more careful. I'm not entirely sure that they'll lose next week, but I do think it's going to be a tougher game than most imagined. So can we please cancel the threadban bet? Thank you. Trubisky could be one of those guys who gets run out of town at the place that drafted him and becomes great with his second team later in his career, like Kurt Warner or Rich Gannon.
  4. After sleeping on this, I think that everyone was rusty against a good defense. No more fucking around. If Nagy continues to outdo Reid in run-pass ratio with Montgomery here, I'm going to pull what's left of my hair out. Nagy really needs to get the gauntlet from the media about that shit.
  5. Yeah, he got moved to pro scouting.
  6. I think we may have underrated the Packers D. Hub Arkush last year, when Nagy was hired, said that Mike Pettine would have been an upgrade over Fangio. He's a really good DC, and between Alexander, King, Jackson and that safety they drafted this year their secondary is stacked for a while. It's going to be hard to pass on them. I liked all of those guys coming out of college. They have some good players on D, and their Dline is really good. This might be the best defense they've had since 2010, when they won the whole damn thing.
  7. What I wanted them to do was trade down with the Browns, who were rumored to want Trubisky, let them be the idiots and take Watson at 12. Watson ended up going at 12. I thought Mahomes was going to be available at the Bears pick in the 2nd round. I was beyond shocked he went top 10. That being said, I look like an idiot for saying that that QB class was awful, because Watson and Mahomes are awesome. I didn't think any were going to be that good. The one I had the most conviction about being bad was Trubisky.
  8. Not throwing to Miller is a huge mistake. He's good. So is Robinson. Maybe they should give Wims Gabriel's spot if Mitch likes bigger receivers.
  9. @Chicago White Sox Listen, Mitch looked like ass tonight. Yes, it's only one game. This is going to stick with him a long time because its vs GB at home in primetime. He could get better, and Nagy did him no favors. I was pissed because I expected more. That's all. This game feels a lot like the 2007 opener vs. The Chargers. Just a huge, massive disappointment.
  10. I saw him miss guys tonight. I can't stand Gabriel and I think he should have been cut. He's too expensive for what he brings. You have to be a tick below Usain Bolt at his size to create separation in the NFL. He's so small that he has to be wide open to actually be open. Even if Trubisky gets better later this year, this game will be a ton of the narrative because it's at home against Green Bay. I'm not entirely ready to commit Bears seppuku after calming down a bit, but another game or two with an offensive performance like this and I will be.
  11. I didnt think that was OPI either. The amount of holding on Mack and DOG the Packers got away with was beyond ludicrous.
  12. What do you consider deep? I think he's pretty bad in intermediate routes too. He's bad past 10-12 yds IMO.
  13. Mitch overthrows guys constantly, (especially on seam routes down the middle of the field) and he has trouble hitting guys on the sidelines. He's overthrowing and underthrowing nearly every pass. He's just off.
  14. The only reason to run shotgun on 3rd and 1 is if you're running a QB draw.
  15. Nagy made Schoop and Crowton look like a genius tonight. I'm not willing to completely jump off of the ledge yet,(I've calmed down a bit since the game ended) but holy shit was Trubisky awful tonight. That being said, Nagy did him zero favors. I'm not sure that I want Pace picking another QB if Mitch sucks because when he made Mitch the 2nd overall pick he raved about Mitch's accuracy. That has been his biggest issue in the NFL. I don't want someone who is that wrong on something like that picking a 2nd QB.
  16. If the Bears picked Rodgers in 2005, I bet he sucks because it's the Bears QB. (Half joking)
  17. I felt sick when that pick was made. Trubisky was NOT a 1st round talent. I hadn't felt as bad about a pick since Cedric Benson. I wanted Rodgers in 2005, I wanted Watson in 2017. I would have been skiddish about them picking Watson at 3 though.
  18. I had no faith that they could get in the endzone. I thought that if they got down there Mitch would throw a pick. Gee, what happened? The difference in the game was that Rodgers could score even against an awesome defense and Trubisky couldn't against a below average one.
  19. It felt over after the 1st drive in the 2nd half.
  20. I couldn't control myself on the site, but how about this: I won't post in this thread until after the bye week. You down? I'm not doing a football related ban bet on a baseball board until baseball season is over. And it would have to be lifted when the Sox make their first moderate level move this offseason. I have too much PTSD with QBs to ever think that they will find one that doesn't completely suck. Cutler sucked. I'm not sure Trubisky is even as good as Cutler.
  21. Almost beat GB? What alternate dimension are you living in. The 7-3 lead felt insurmountable.
  22. They face every top QB except Brady and Roethlisberger. They're toast. They won't score enough.
  23. No. Actually it was 2000 and they were 2nd in PPG behind the Ravens. Got my year wrong. And it was Leaf's last year.
