QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) wow...I might as well go to Boston! Willie's there, Coco's gonna be there! Well, the only thing I know is that I'm definetly going to a Sox-Sox game this season! Coco being there lessens the chances of Willie being there!

Brooks Boyer to be on the Score
Al Lopez's Ghost replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He did say that game 3 will be when the Sox "present the fans the World Series Trophy." No idea what that means exactly. -
Sometime between now and noon, on the White Sox weekly show.
-
"To be honest..." Honest? Pete Rose?
-
The Score just said that the Sox gave Ozzie a present today - the US flag that flew over the Cell during the World Series.

August 29 is Welcome Back Josh Paul Night!

http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/dsindex/17-ds1.htm If you get to see the hard copy in the newspaper, they show some of the patients looking at the trophy. Really a heartwarming thing to see. Great use of the trophy.

Nancy Faust will be back - Part Time
Al Lopez's Ghost replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) Nancy made no bones about the fact she was not happy how they fazed her out during the last decade. I don't think she held anything against the Sox, but she didn't like the way the atmosphere around the game changed. Oh well, Nancy was a fixture, but in the last few years she only played the organ for opposing players. A good run that will soon come to an end. Her problems began and ended with Rob Gallas. She has only the best things to say about how the Sox have treated her since Brooks came in. She also has said that Jerry Reinsdorf is a wonderful man. -
According to Monday's Southtown: The Boston Globe reported Sunday that the White Sox were in on the Miguel Tejada talks with Baltimore. If the Cubs would have traded Mark Prior to the O's for the star shortstop, the Sox would have been interested in making a deal with Baltimore for Prior.

He was on the Score White Sox Weekly last week and gave no hint of a problem. Even if his arm was tired in the Series, I doubt that he was "injured" per se.
-
The Sox and Nancy have agreed on a contract for the '06 season. Nancy requested, and the Sox agreed, on a different schedule, though, for her. She will be at Opening Night, but otherwise she will play for the day games only - during the regular season. For post season she would be full time.

Red Sox sign Julian Tavarez to 2-year deal
Al Lopez's Ghost replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Nice to see the Red Sox are finally going after some players, I like how they are trying to get a younger team for the future, brazoban and tavarez are nice players to have out of the bullpen. Thursday afternoon on the Score, Terry Boers had a new take on the Tavarez acquisition. This occcurred at 4:41 during a thing they call the extra point. He said that, and I'm gonna use his words as closely as I can, the following: 'I have to try and veil this, how can I say it, Tavarez can pitch a little, and his salary is pretty much what you expect for a guy like his numbers pitches, but the thing about him is this. He has a "friend" on the Red Sox. And it's a guy the Red Sox would want to keep happy.' That was all Boers said. Bernstein said "That's interesting. I never heard that about them." So, who's he outing - Manny, Big Poppy, or the longest shot in history, I'd say, Wells? -
I'd vote for a statue on the concourse.

I got it all, but the balls came just before Christmas.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) I'd like to see Frank end up somewhere a little more homer friendly, not to mention that draws a few fans, but I hope he heals enough to be effective and get his 500 homers. I read in the paper today that of Frank's last 150 homers, 111 came at the Cell. That would be a concern to me if I was a GM in a pitcher's park like Oakland's.
-
But what will the Cubs do now?
-
He's on the Score now, and he said he wants to be ready for the season, so he said no to the tournament.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) I don’t know if Joey was speaking for the White Sox It seems to me that if you hear Cora speaking, it's just about like you're listening to Ozzie. I think that they're close enough that they see baseball issues the same way. But even so, I'd say that this is a blip, there won't be major reprecussions. Both guys have to continue to perform well this spring and next year to progress in their careers.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) It is. Couldn't Broadway by a PTBNL?
-
I don't see why you say his days with the Cubs are nearing an end. He can't be a free agent for a couple more years, the Cubs rarely lose their own players to free agency....As long as Prior stays healthier than Kerry Woods, I think the Cubs will be very reluctant to let him go.

New Tejada News: O's reportedly make a proposal...
Al Lopez's Ghost replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We've been going nuts on Tejada for weeks, and I'd like to see him in silver and black as long as we keep Bmac. But the funniest thing would be seeing Cub fans going nuts if we got Miggy. -
Score just reported we inked Rob to 2 years plus an option. I think it was in the neighborhood of 2-3 million per year. two years at 5.3 million, plus the option year.
-
Plus he'd play about 19 games against the Cubs. But I'm sure those good good Cub fans will give him a hero's welcome.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Dick Allen was right in saying that these players are pretty freely available. Hell, to an extent, the Sox just non-tendered the same type of player in Willie Harris... I think when you compare two guys, you have to keep in mind age and experience. I think it's fair to say that Taveras is not yet as good as he will be, and Harris is never gonna be a whole lot better than he is right now.

Help me- good defensive plays from playoffs
Al Lopez's Ghost replied to downstairs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In game one vs. Boston, Iguchi threw out a runner at third to stop a rally - it was about the 4th, I think, the inning the Carmines scored their runs. Also, Iguchi threw Erstadt out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple -- pretty sure it was game 4, about the second inning.
