  1. Here's the link. Doesn't say what damages he's seeking. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/whitesox.asp
  2. Crede and AJ will be at the taste on Thursday morning between 11:00 and 1:00 according to the team's official website.
  3. From Mrs. Al Lopez's Ghost......Al let me use his password! AJ is having a pretty darned good year. He may not be the best player on the AL list, but he's our player. I'm voting with my heart....as many times as I can! How many times have our deserving players been excluded? I don't care about the others. I just want AJ on the team. JMHO!
  4. Today Jones to the Sox was floated on the Score by Steve Stone. He said he thinks Andruw will be traded by the deadline, and said the Sox could wind up with him, for BA and pitching, but not BMac. Stone said that BA and BMac wouldn't be necessary to swing the deal. FWIW.
  5. Well, you gotta take the bad with the good. He took Dye and Crede out early, don't forget. So I don't see this one as being Ozzie's doing, not as much as other games. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Ozzie - - but I think he was more surprised by our comeback than the architect of it.
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) Just to reiterate, for the 4 MILLIONTH time...Tracey threw at Blaylock not once, but TWICE. The fault here is on Vasquez, NOT Tracey...but instead, Ozzie rips into Tracey in plain view...its bushleague. I think it was Ozzie who said last week words to the effect - it's not enough to try, we don't try to pay you, you have to do the job. Tracey had to hit somebody and didn't. His career isn't over, but he can go away for a while and think about things as far as I'm concerned. I believe the clubhouse will understand what Ozzie did to Tracey and have no problem with it. Memo to Sean Tracey: This is hardball, let us know when you want to play it.
  7. I would expect the Cubs to make a run at CLee. He always pounded the ball at Wrigley (of course that was against Cubs pitching) and they need some outfield punch. This was a new way to start a thread, though. Propose an idea that's unlikely, then disagree with it yourself. I think I'll try it. Let's fire Kenny - what has he done lately? We're just floating along, can't overtake the Tigers. But then, he did reconstruct the club and they did win the World Series. And we are playing around .650 ball and we would be in the playoffs if they started today, and this is a long season.... You know what, I think we should keep Kenny.
  8. If you want to know what a lot of other people think about this, check the thread I started on this last week.
  9. 6/25 vs. Astros has been moved to the evening for ESPN
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Kevin Millwood, originally scheduled to start Sunday against the White Sox, is experiencing some stiffness in his back and has been pushed back to Tuesday. He'll now face the Royals, so his fantasy owners should be pleased. John Rheinecker will move up in the rotation to replace him Tuesday. Rheinecker, a 6' 2' lefty, was terrific in his last start against Seattle. Pitched into the ninth, gave up four hits and one walk.
  11. Just thinking out loud here, but there aren't that many ways to improve our offense right now. Centerfield and shortstop are where we could use some production. Orioles aren't going anywhere again so maybe they'd listen to an offer. KW has to spend the extra starting pitching sometime, right? Uribe, BMac or Garland, a top flight minor leaguer (Josh Fields?) and a prospect? Who knows, maybe it could happen. Wouldn't mind getting some midinnings bullpen help in the deal. Is there anyone out there with an opinion on this?
  12. If I recall correctly, Perez' bunt came with runners on first and third and Cubs two runs down. His bunt if successful would not have tied the score, it would have brought the Cubs to within one run and left men on first and second. But if he swings and hits a gapper, maybe he ties it up with his at bat. This is completely different from Pablo's case, because worst case scenario the Sox are still playing in the top of the 11th.
  13. I remember that Jeff Nelson used to own Frank Thomas, with that slider from hell he used to be able to throw. Hope he still can.
  14. Here's the link from today's paper. http://www.suntimes.com/output/lazare/cst-fin-lew23.html
  15. Scott Reifert's blog just posted that the Sox will be wearing replica uniforms today from 1906. http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/ Mrs. Al Lopez's Ghost
  16. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) So what is the story behind what happened to Wimpy? I know it's been told, but I need a refresher... I only know what I read here, and I think it may have been Steff who posted it (if not, I apologize), but the story went that Hawk made behind the scenes jokes about Paciorek's alleged abuse by a Catholic priest. I guess Tom heard about the jokes, and if so, you could understand it if he took such offense at it, that he could no longer work with Hawk. Again, I don't pretend to have any direct knowledge about this.
  17. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/251sd7.htm First I've heard of any dust-ups from last season.
  18. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...ack=1&cset=true Hope the link worked. Exciting news for us old-timers.
  19. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) He and Blackjack were both pretty good filling in for Hawk last year. Would've liked to see Robin around the team during the playoffs last year. Well, he was back. If you watch closely, in the 8th inning of game 1 of the World Series, after Pods tripled (but did not score) they show a girl cheering in the stands. Sitting right in front of her, clapping, is Robin. Plus, he caught the first ball from Bo Jackson prior to game 2. I envision Ozzie bringing Robin back as a coach in the not too distant future.
  20. It's on the stands now, in the May issue. I haven't read it yet, but finally, I can truly say I just bought it for the interview. BTW, did you ever think a Sox manager would be interviewed by Playboy? Jerry Manuel? Terry Bevington?
  21. Curses sell newspapers and ads for ESPN, not to mention all the books over the years about the Red Sox. It's all crap. Back when I was in college I found it didn't hurt to have a snappy ending to a term paper. Consider using this. Last year during the playoffs, maybe against Boston, some Sox fans had signs and shirts that read "We don't have a curse, but we do have a Jencks."
  22. Frank is now hitting .080. I saw a little bit of his at bats on Sunday, and it looked like they were just pounding him with low fastballs, and he was having trouble putting the ball in play. My guess is right now he's not real healthy, but you wonder how long Oakland will keep putting him out there, and how long before Frank starts feeling the pressure to fiddle with his stance and/or swing. Tough times for the Big Hurt.
  23. How do we complain to Comcast? Maybe they could do a make-good if they knew how many people feel they screwed up. I'm sure the Sox would provide the video to them.
  24. This is just an amazing time to be a Sox fan.
