  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:25 AM) But the major problem with Jones is 2 things, OBP and his inability to hit LHP. Have you seen him play the outfield in the last year and a half? He would have to improve to get to the level of pathetic. It's not easy to make a bad team worse, but this would do it.
  2. Pods, Ozuna, Owens, Gonzalez....boy it's damn near impossible to find a good leftfielder anymore.
  3. This just means that Bradley will drive in several key runs against us as KC overtakes the Sox for fourth place.
  4. This grinder stuff is so overhyped. Grind me out 30 homers and 100 rbis.
  5. I didn't see this posted anywhere. Good to see a positive story amidst all the depressing losses. This is the link. http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/health/...art0619.article
  6. Walks, wild pitches, stolen bases allowed, yeah, Contreras is a natural fit for the bullpen.
  7. He's been designated for reassignment. He's only hitting .224, but that just means he'll be comfortable with us, and it would help us keep our infielders in the infield. Opinions?
  8. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) I hope we get Pods and Erstad back pretty soon. Crede is about 2 or 3 months out . And our pitching? well they are leaking fuel cans when they come in to pitch. Crede will not return this year, I believe. Why chance it with a rehabbing back problem when the team is 15 games out?
  9. Ya think Brave fans are asking "But where would he play?"
  10. After the game Charley Manuel said that he thinks Garcia is injured, he asked Freddy about it, and Freddy said his arm hurts. Which means probably he will not make his next scheduled start against, um, who? Oh yeah - THE WHITE SOX. We just can't catch a break. Freddy's in a bad position here, being in a contract year and not really looking healthy since October of 2005. I wish him the best and will always remember his contributions, which were major.
  11. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 06:10 AM) I could see the sox wanting SS Chin Lung Hu. Great defensively and hitting .330 in the SOU league. Or RHP Jonathan Meloan, who is closing in AA for them. I know nothing about the shortstop, but I'm for any trade that lets me say "Hu's on short."
  12. Well, you've just got to be kidding. If there were only two choices in the world - Baker or Bevington - I'd just start watching women's pro basketball.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:23 AM) Left field with Mack in center. I wasn't a fan of Mack out in center, but I'm also not a fan of having Owens in CF or Anderson back up (Anderson shouldn't be up until he makes serious adjustments to that swing). Mack back in center? OK, now you are trying to make me stop watching the Sox.
  14. QUOTE(beautox @ May 30, 2007 -> 04:08 AM) Wassermann(ROOGY) Gotta tell you, I've never seen ROOGY before. I know what it means, but you never see it. Kudos to you just for that.
  15. Just tell the Rocket it's the World Series.
  16. Let's go back a little further. Rich Gossage and Terry Forster for one year of Richie Zisk and the forgetttable Silvio Martinez. One of Bill Veeck's money-dictated moves, and probably the worst.
  17. I think it would help everyone if we could tone down the emotions a little while analyzing the team. I don't think this thing is gonna work. The concept started out this way: improve the pen, get Buehrle right again, hope that Danks was the real deal, and get another year out of our aging sluggers. Some of that worked, obviously, but the pen and the sluggers - not so much. KW watches the game too, and has to know at least that things aren't working yet. Eventually he's gonna see that we're not playoff bound. Then he's gonna make a few trades - not a firesale - but a few that will get two parts for every one he's moving. I think he'll trade Dye and Buehrle, and wind up with prospects, as in a second baseman, an outfielder who can lead off, and some pitching. A young catcher wouldn't hurt, but I think that's less likely. But everyone - try not to take our struggles so personally. They're not trying to hurt your feelings. They're just not that great a team.
  18. Well you know he was in Titanic, so he knows a little something about sinking ships.
  19. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) Maybe he could at least take Anderson's spot when Thome gets back. Well, that's how this happens. Anderson is just one little Sweeney hot streak away from the minors. If Sweeney struggles here, BA gets a reprieve.
  20. Until BA learns to do something with an inside fastball (other than jump away as it's called a strike) he has no chance.
  21. He's got 21 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings. Which is kind of amazing. Is he a real prospect - I see that he's 26, so is it that he's just older than the competition? I'd appreciate any info.
  22. The Dybber keeps driving through a stop sign in my neighborhood.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) Why not? No wonder he hated the Sox after leaving. The story that went out at the time was that because it was the playoffs, the league controlled access, and Fisk didn't have an all-access pass, and so wasn't allowed in the clubhouse. Now, that may be pure BS, I have no idea, but that's the response the Sox gave at the time.
  24. Well, you wouldn't want to give a guy, say, TWO starts this season before you write him off?
