Garland can be a successful pitcher in the majors, he's just not doing it. He could be a guy who will benefit from a change in scenery. I say give him a couple more starts.
At least you guys started putting players on other teams on our White Sox team of the future. We're not going to have a team completely comprised of in-house guys.
I think Frank plays two more years with the team. After that, I cannot say.
The Yankees led the league in strikeouts last year. Strikeouts aren't considered as bad as they used to be, as long as the batter sees enough pitches to be effective later.
Thanks for keeping the thread going.
As for Loiaza, great signing so far. We need him a lot more than we thought.
We're getting close to the end of month one of the season. I want to know how everyone feels about the team so far and what they expect of the team come October. I, for one, won't be satisfied without a serious push in the playoffs. That's at least getting to the ALCS.
I like our guy. Jimenez broke his neck and probably needed more than a year to properly recover. Comparing him to Soriano at this point is ridiculous. The trade from the Padres was a steal.
Look for his numbers to dip, but to remain solid throughout the year.
It's all about public perception. Considering how everyone rails on the stadium (outside of the true believers, of course), I'm surprised that it ranked that high.
You guys don't realize what a master strategist Manuel is. For example, his making sure that Cleveland scores in every inning today. Genius!
Getaway day for us is a throwaway.
In the end, none of those guys (Travis Lee was another) worked out at all. I don't mind us not signing guys who end up to be flops (like Bobby Hill, so far).
You'd see Chicago fans flock to the Sox if they won a World Series. Heck, after the Angels won, I'll bet half of the people who bought hats, etc., didn't even know the team existed six months earlier.
Until then, it's just us die-hards in here. . .
Miles had a good spring, but he doesn't fit in our long-range plans. Some guys are just meant to be roster filler. He'll only get a shot if we have extensive injuries.
That's so funny that the guy is a Cubs fan. I doubt that fact will make the Cubune or Baseball Tonight. That would prove that it's not a Sox fan who did the deed, but it still happened on our field.
Let's play the game. We've had enough bad publicity.
