  1. What's worse is everyone is throwing bouquets at the Cubs. This could be the nightmare season.
  2. He had a brief stretch in which he was effective. I haven't seen a game in the past few weeks in which he did not give up a run. Come on, it's time to see what our minor-league guys have. Bring up Yofu.
  3. I thought that his hot streak a couple of weeks ago was a sign that he wasn't finished. I was so wrong. I even picked him up for my fantasy team right at the end of that streak.
  4. You want a guy who was cut by the Orioles, one of the few teams with a worse offense than us? We are desperate.
  5. What about Thomas at DH? Or is it automatic that Edgar makes it. . .
  6. It's just one bad game. I think he could be of use in either role. For the most part Yofu's pitching like he doesn't belong in the minors. Forget the age; he's a keeper.
  7. We have to protect him on the 40-man roster after this season, from what I've heard. I think he could fit into the team's plans (albeit in a year or two) as a relief guy.
  8. I remember a lot of Sox fans clamoring to sign Lofton to a long-term deal after April of last year. We were lucky to get anything for him in trade (and a lot more than we got for Durham). We're just going to have to suffer with Harris/Rowand/Maggs in center for the year. We might need to sign a stopgap guy this following offseason, to give us time to develop guys like Reed and Webster.
  9. Backman will probably get 'the call' to be our AAA manager next year.
  10. Jimenez used to be a SS prospect. Could he play the position?
  11. Every GM's made a bad move or two. It happens. Does everyone here think that we need to rip things up and start from scratch?
  12. Baldelli and Crawford are a great duo in Tampa Bay. Baldelli rarely gets the ball out of the infield and he's still batting more than .300.
  13. We need him to be a leader on the field, because he's not going to be one in the clubhouse. Something clicked this week, and I don't care what it is.
  14. If Wood's arm falls off, they are in mucho trouble. They also have a decent number of old guys who could break down.
  15. It's time for us to go on a 15-5 run.
  16. This is a tangent, but let me ride for a while -- I'm in Atlanta, and when the Falcons had new ownership, the first thing they did was mark down season tickets to $100 ($10 a game) for upper-deck seats. After that, getting people in the door, they improved the product on the field (Vick didn't hurt). Look what happened in Toronto when they had the $1 tickets during the SARS scare. You'd think that having 50K at $1 a pop would beat the heck out of 12K at full price.
  17. Was the plunking of Maggs at all intentional?
  18. I thought he was slowing down but last night proved me wrong. At least we have a stopper.
  19. Koch said he straightened out his leg kick. So he was kung-fu pitching (couldn't help myself).
  20. Looks like I just got promoted to AA. I need at least 200 more messages of seasoning before I'm ready for the big club.
  21. I don't see the Royals trading us Beltran, unless they go on a 20-game losing streak. We need to go outside the org for a CF until Reed or Webster are ready, because those guys need at least two more years of seasoning.
  22. Of course not. Oakland prefers guys who produce over 'stuff'.
  23. Yofu's an interesting prospect, that's for sure. Some guys don't make it. That's why in the past four years we've drafted approximately 1,000 pitchers.
