  1. I know that the year Frank left early he hit a HR and was going to be named MVP. It's hard to give the guy an award if he's on a plane. Sox fans never forget.
  2. He's still a 'name' guy. Seeing him do those stupid Pepsi commercials with Giambi (where happened to Griffey?) makes me want to puke. I still remember those Thomas "I'm the big train" commercials.
  3. I'm at about 30. I'll at least get to 100. When was the last time Frank played in an All-Star game? 1998?
  4. Now I see how people get up to 1,000 posts really quickly. I'll take the MB of now, although everyone can see that if he pitched on Friday or Saturday he would have lost. Run support is huge.
  5. I don't mind if he starts or sits in the bullpen all game. Sure, I'd love to see a Sox guy start, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
  6. I've been to Chicago once in my life and I've been a Sox fan for more than 20 years. There's nothing wrong with a little out-of-town support. I'm voting for Thomas as much as possible. Is that stupid? I don't care; I want him in the game, even if all he does is tip his cap and sit on the bench.
  7. I see the cards. Too bad Reed didn't make the set.
  8. They were talking on Baseball Tonight about what a shame that Sosa wasn't going to play in his home town. Sure, there was some backlash from the cork incident, but he's missed 25 games this year. Morgan Ensberg has more home runs. He wasn't deserving, and that's the bottom line.
  9. Mine is 30324. Let's not have Giambi win this one. I have a feeling that Sweeney, who was voted by the players, won't be at the game, so Frank might still have a shot.
  10. PK deserves a lot of credit for getting that hit. Otherwise we're still the team that can't sweep anybody. I want to see Big Frank at the home run derby. He absolutely was shafted by not being invited to the All-Star game in 2000. It's time to pay up!
  11. We have a pretty good 1B in Frank. I'm pretty impressed that we've made moves. How those moves work won't be known until October.
  12. When a pitcher goes the distance, he usually wins. Colon is 3-2 in his complete games this year. If we get rid of Colon, who moves into the rotation? Seriously, who is going to do a better job? Go ahead, pocket GMs, amaze me.
  13. Let's push the Twins' corpse aside and focus on the Royals.
  14. We should trade Colon straight up for Cory Lidle. After all, Lidle is 10-6, which means he's better.
  15. Dump Colon and we have no chance of being competitive in the playoffs. His numbers have been disappointing. Of that I agree with negative ncorgbl. He can go nine innings. He won't go nine innings every game. How many pitchers have more complete games than Colon? A workhorse starter is not the kind of guy you trade.
  16. I don't mind giving up on a guy like Malone, who only is going to succeed somewhere else. Losing a Yan or a Webster would be rough. With prospects there is a lot of guesswork. To make this move we had to take a chance. So we did. I like how the ESPN game story on the Sox/Twins game didn't mention our dramatic win or sweep. All it mentioned was 'Alomar and Everett struggle.'
  17. Middle relievers don't get the nod unless they have an ERA under one. Frank might make it, but are they going to put a second DH in the game behind Martinez?
  18. These moves are making me dizzy. The ensures one thing. The Sox are in the front page of the sports section from coast to coast. How often does that happen?
  19. Would we consider using Weaver as a closer? That's the only way I think this deal makes any kind of sense.
  20. And they're taking three. Who are the players? Come on, I thought we had some insiders on this page.
  21. Salvo, Ring, and Almonte. I don't know anything about Salvo. Ring could be closing in New York by the end of June.
  22. It's really hard to tell what's going to happen. A ton of votes will come in between now and tomorrow.
  23. Current results: Bonds, B. Giants 744,095 Sosa, S. Cubs 565,590 Sheffield, G. Braves 565,177 Pujols, A. Cardinals 486,197 The Japanese fans are stuffing the ballots. Why can't we? We're hosting the All-Star game and the only guy we have in the top three in the balloting is Frank at DH. He's almost 500K behind Edgar.
  24. I'm doing my part. I thought Sosa was so far ahead of third that it was a done deal.
