I like the move KW made getting a solid back up catcher. I liked Gload but he couldn't get the playing time he deserved here. I wish him well except against the Sox. We may need to give the young pitchers we picked up a chance to develop. I would also like to pick up another good hitting outfielder.

Signing Toby made my day!!!
-
This signing is GREAT, I love it. We will have a capable backup Catcher who isn't on the edge of retirement. This will keep AJ fresh.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 9, 2006 -> 03:39 AM) Nashville is in the PCL? Nashville is in the PCL now. It happened when the PCL took over the American Association.
-
I think he needs to get out of NY also but I have my doubts it will happen this year.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) I know it's a lrage load, but I spent some good time on it. It's hypnotic. You did a great job on that!

I will believe all this talk of the Sox getting A-Rod when I see it. My guess is that he will end up staying with the Yankees.
-
I really was getting to like Ross last season. Already I miss him!!
-
I am going to miss Ross Gload coming off the bench but he'll get more playing time with the Royals. We do need bullpen help so hopefully Sisco will workout for us. Good Luck Ross, except when you play the White Sox!

Would you trade Buehrle for Andruw Jones ?

QUOTE(JERMAINEDYE4MVP @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) 10. 1976 Cincinnati Reds Okay yes I'm a bit biased but how would you like to have been an oposing pitcher and faced this lineup. Rose, Morgan, Griffey Sr. Foster, Conception. And they won the World Seiries in Decisive Fashion. 9. The 1969 New York Mets This is not so much for the team but how they did it. When you look at the lineup or pitching roster no one really jumps out at you (except for Nolan Ryan) but we all remeber that just 7 years only the mets lost 120 games. Aamazing turn around (yes pun intended). 8. The 1998 New York Yankees Jeter, Williams, Rvera, and clemens. With all of those great players its no wonder the yanks won 114 reagular season games 7. The 1917 Chicago White (black) Sox Of course this team will always be remebered for throwing the World Series but many people forget why they where heavy favorites in the firstplace. With two 30 games winner and Shoeless Joe Jackson If they weplaying at the full power I honestly believe they would've won. 6.The 1960 New York Yankees The last year of Casey Stengal manegerial stint with the yankees was perhaps his best. The only reason they aren't higher is they didnt win the Series, but with Mantle, Maris , Berra, and Ford. This was an amazing team. 5. The 1966 Los Angeles Dodgers They didn't have a lot of power but when you've got Koufax, and Drysdale on the hil you don't need power. Two of the best pitchers of their era, and perhaps of all time. 4. The 1908 Chicago Cubs Another one of those not for the team but the circumstances around it. 98 yearsl ater the cubs are still praying for another one. 3. The 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Now this was not the best brooklyn team of the era but from 1947-54 de bums had been getting the hearts broken by the Yankees, so when they finally won it in 55' the whole city rioted. 2. The 1927 New York Yankees With ruth and gherig in their prime the yankees were a force to be reckoned with in the season and the series. The defining momentwould have to be when ruth hit 3 homers in game 4. 1. The 2005 Chicago White Sox Who else? The 05 White Sox were so dominat that they defined the standards for postseason play. They outscored their opponets by a total of 33 runs. Never before have we witnessed such lopsided margin of victory in postseaon play. I agree with your list 100%, but let me make one correction. The 1917 White Sox didn't throw the World Series, they won the series. They were the last Sox World Champions till 2005 came along. It was the 1919 team that was the Black Sox team that threw the World Series. I'm not trying to critical in any way but just wanted to point out the error.

I hope Williams isn't cutting payroll. If he trades any more starters then I would be inclined to think that he is trying to cut the payroll.
-
I think it will be either Alamor or Stewart. Anybody but Widger, please!!!
-
Now that many of the 2005 staff is gone..

It would be contreras for me followed by Bobby Jenks game 4 of the WS save as a close second. -
I have to agree with Melissa. The more the Sox talk about his back, it will put teams off trading for him. I would also downplay it.
-
I didn't see Norm Cash on the list either. He played with the Sox for a couple of years before being traded to Detroit. Norm Cash was a good first baseman. Just noticed that Knightni, mentioned Norm Cash. Glad someone mentioned him.

I remember Bobby Bonilla well, I always liked him. Great post.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) The one downside of Trading Vazquez is the upside Vazquez has. In other words, if we dealt Javy now, we're dealing him from a position of weakness...he still is off of 3 years that are well-down from his best season. If, somehow, he were to show a significant improvement next year, then his value in a deal next offseason could be through the roof, especially when pitching salaries take another step upwards. The upside though, is that there's no guarantee that Vazquez will not be even worse next year, given that last year was actually not his worst year. I would be open on any pitcher not named Contreras if the price was right (Contreras having a no-trade clause). Very good point. To be perfectly honest I wouldn't trade another starting pitcher, unless it would be an offer we couldn't refuse. After reading these posts, I didn't know Vazquez had that many supporters!!!
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) Why trade Vazquez? That doesn't make sense. Trading Vazquez we would be getting rid of a medicore pitcher. I would trade him before I would Garland or Buehrle.
-
Why are we looking to trade our starters? We traded Garcia, I wouldn't trade any more with the exception of Vazquez.
-
With Pettitte on his way to the Yankees, it makes me wonder if the Astros will try and make that trade for Buehrle.
-
I think Bonds would be better off in the AL as a DH.

QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:05 PM) This is pretty obvious that he will be the next manager after Pinella. This is a good way to groom him for the position. I agree with you. It wouldn't surprise me if Sandberg becomes the Cubs next manager after Pinella steps down. If he has years in the minors they Cubs will probably put him on their coaching staff in a couple of years.

McGwire does have HOF numbers, but I think the steroid issue will play a roll if he gets in or not.
-
That will make the Yankees tougher next season. Last I knew Roger Clemens was undecided, it wouldn't surpise if Clemens returned to the Yankees also.
