WhiteSox History 1983
For the first time since 1959, the WhiteSox were in post season play after a surprisngly easy victory in the West with a 99-63 record and a margin of 20 games a record for divisional play. Attendance set a record of 2,132,821 and they watched Richard Dotson post a 22-7 record with a 3.22 ERA (6th Best) and Lammar Hoyt post a 24-10 mark. Tom Paciorek was the top hitter at .307 but the longball came from Carlton Fisk (.289) with 26 homers and 86 RBI's, Harold Baines (.280) with 20 homers and 99 RBI's, Greg Luzinski (.255) with 32 homers and 95 RBI's and Rookie of the Year Ron Kittle (.254) with a team high 35 homers and 100 RBI's. Dennis Lamp (7-7) had 15 saves and Salome Barojas (3-3) had 12 But the team that led the league with 800 runs during the season scored only 3 in 4 games against Baltimore in the pennant playoffs, losing 3 games to 1 and being outscored, 19 runs to 3. The WhiteSox won only the first game and that by a score of 1-0

White Sox History
I'll do this one early today cause i probably won't be home tonight. Althrough snowed out for five days at the start of the season, the White Sox came out hot, winning the first eight, but then slowed down for a third place finish (87-75), six games out. The win total was best since 1977. There was no hitters in the league's top 15 but Greg Luzinski hit .292 with 18 homers and 105 RBI's. Harold Baines (.271) had 25 homers and 105 RBI's. Steve Kemp (.286) added 19 homers and 98 RBI's. Rudy Law hit .318 with 36 stolen bases, displacing the conversial Ron LeFlore (.287) who had 28 thefts. Lammar Hoyt (19-15) led the league in wins and had a 3.53 ERA (10th Best). Hoyt however, stumbled badly after a 9-0 start. Britt Burns (13-5), Rich Dotoson (11-15), Jerry Koosman (11-7) and Dennis Lamp (11-8) were the other leading winners. Lamp also had five saves but Salome Barojas (6-6) was the star in the Bullpen with 21.

White Sox History
A good start (winning 11 of the first 15) was wasted when the players strike began with the WhiteSox third (31-22), only 2.5 games out in the west. In the second half, a 23-30 record was good for no better than sixth (54-52 overall). But the caracter of the team changed with the acquisition of free-agent catcher Carlton Fisk and the trade for slugger Greg Luzinski from the Phillies. Fisk hit .263 in the shortened season with 45 RBI's and Luzinski (.265) clubbed 21 homers with 62 RBI's. Chet Lemon led the team with a .302 average. Dennis Lamp (7-6) was third in the league in ERA (2.41) and Britt Burns (10-6) was fifth (2.64). Rich Dotson was 9-8 and Steve Trout was 8-7 but Lammar Hoyt (9-3) had 10 saves in only 42 games. Attendance for the reduced season was a strong 946,651 but ended the White Sox streak at 1 million plus at four
