WHITESOX HISTORY 1957 Opening the season with 11 wins in 13 games, the WhiteSox started with a rush that saw them six games ahead on the field but losing 14 of 22 to New York eventually helped the SOx settle for second (90-64), eight games behind the Yankees. Luis Aparicio Moved to SS after Chico Carasquel was traded before the 1956 season, led a running game that produced 109 stolen bases. Aparicio stole 28 and Minnie Minoso and Jim Rivera 18 each. Nelson Fox hit .317, Minos .310 (with 12 homers and 103 RBI's) while Larry Doby (.288) had 14 homers. For the second straight year, Billy Pierce (20-12) won 20 games . Dick Donovan was 16-6, Jim Wilson 15-8 and Bob Keegan 10-8. Keegan produced one of the Highlites of the season on Aug 8th when he no hit Washington, Winning 6-0 in the first gem at Comiskey Park since 1940 and the first by a WhiteSox hurler anywere since 1937

Lefty Billy Pierce started 14-4, won his 20th Sept 13th but finished 20-9. Jim Wilson, Obtained from Baltimore in May in a six player deal, began 11-4 through july 3 but lost his next eight decisions and wound up 13-14. Jack Harshman was 15-11. Minnie Minoso hit .316 with 21 homers and 88 RBI's while Larry Doby, Acquired from Cleveland in the off-season for Jim Busby and Chico Carrasquel, batted .268 with a club high 24 homers and 102 RBI's, helping set a club record of 128 homers. Baseball's only woman club president, Mrs. Grace Comiskey, daughter in-law of Founder Charles A Comiskey, Died Dec 10. Marty Marion was relived as manager after the season and replaced by Al Lopez.
