QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) The real De Aza is closer to .200 than .365 Technically true, but silly....But even with his dreadful 2 months or whatever he's still hitting .271 as a memeber of the Sox -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Yeah and wasn't hinroch SO awesome in the playoffs? Nate Robinson won that series with nets along with noah and was reason we stole game 1 vs Heat You gotta realize Thibs is a defensive minded coach and Hinrich is a really good defender. That means something. Thibs also likes using the 2 pg backcourts from time to time and with Hinrich able to play most sgs that works. Whether we like it or not I truly believe Thibs was genuine when he said Hinrich was a must. -
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) This year, Edwin Jackson has an FIP of 4.27, with an xFIP of 3.95 going forward. Also has a K rate of 8.13 and an average fastball of 93 mph. Danks has an FIP of 4.60, with an xFIP of 4.75. He doesn't throw hard enough to break a plane of glass (88 average fastball). I'd rather have Edwin, and it's not particularly close. This is all an exercise anyway; Cooper doesn't like Edwin, so that's that. If you guys don't buy these stats, that's fine. But other GMs are aware of them. And that's why we aren't going to get s*** for Danks. Then you don't trade him.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 12:24 PM) If we had EJax and the Cubs had Danks I'd probably propose the same scenario in a different way as long as it had us getting prospects. I just want to make trades, that's all. Just make trades. Lots and lots and lots of trades. Your scenario wouldn't be THAT bad depending on what prospects they get back. My last post was just directed at the clown who may have a Danks turd floating around in his cereal bowl.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) I'd rather have Edwin than Danks. Sign me up. Did John Danks kick your dog or something? Snubbed an autograph request? EJ quality starts- 5 Danks-14 (in 1 less start btw)

Fantastic. Gonna be real interesting to see how all the minutes are spread out next year. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 01:12 AM) I'll take good AA and A prospects for Danks Sox aren't going to get a real good major-league ready prospect for him anyway. Alexei's a different story. I'd be fine with something like that as long as the AA player has been there awhile and could be ready for a promotion......I see no reason for the Sox to stray away from last years plan of getting "near MLB ready" prospects. If Danks doesn't get you that, you don't need to trade him. I don't care what FIP and SIERRA have to say about Danks, he's been a damn good pitcher this year. Lucky or not, it's July 19th and only 10 pitchers have more quality starts than Danks.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) I see a guy trying his best to keep the team loose while having some fun. I think its great Sierra shows some love for his teammates and outside of Connor everyone else looks like they enjoy it. That's about as far as I'm willing to read into it. I'm glad he's apart of this team. Indeed. Stuff like this happens all around baseball and I'm glad it's found its way here. I was saying it all last year, or perhaps it was just the offseason, this team needed guys like Moises down in that dugout.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) What history do the White Sox have to indicate that they would do this? QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) I really don't see why not to be honest....There's no history there to say they would or would not do such a thing. As I acknowledged, there is none...But this is just such a rare occurrence so there's no history to go back on.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) From today's press conference, seriously wondering if Thibs is thinking about Niko at the 3 in some lineups. If Thibs thinks he can hang there great. Doubt he'll throw him out there at the 3 if he can't....No clue what to expect of him defensively. -

All this team needs is one of A. Butler or Hinrichs to return to their 2013 form (Yes Hinrich, he shot 39% from beyond the arc) or B. Tony Snells summer league range to translate even in the slightest bit. Of course I hope all of that happens, but even if 1 happens they should be golden. I have faith in Mike and Doug to shoot well from beyond the arc at the 3. Having a 2nd shooter out there will really help.....Nikos game translating will also help a ton for the 2nd unit. The spacing of a Rose-Butler/Snell/Hinrich-DMD/MJD-Niko-Pau/Noah lineup should be fantastic. When they need offense that should work. Defensively we know they can throw out a solid unit as well. -
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) So are we just assuming/accepting that the Astros doctors are completely off base in this scenario? What's the problem he's said to have anyway? Kid isn't even turning 18 until next month, so unless this is a career threatening injury you'd think he'd be worth a risk. Sox may get outbid but it'd be silly not to get in the mix for him.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) The numbers I saw writers guessing at were between $10 and $20 million. I am guessing that on the open market, the later is much more likely than the previous. Do you see the Sox putting $20 million down for a pitcher that could be a half of a decade away from the majors, and might have a significant injury risk? I don't. I don't see the White Sox being anywhere near the top tier of bidders. I really don't see why not to be honest....There's no history there to say they would or would not do such a thing.

Dougie McBuckets is already a star... -
I take my previous statement back...... Orioles have Yaz's grandson in AA.... Sale for Yaz Really though kid looks like a player. If they can somehow get him for Danks I'd do it....And Hawk would proceed to jizz in his pants.
-
Not really seeing a good match.....I think the Sox should/will be targeting near MLB ready prospects and the O's don't really have any of that.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) Yea but contingency plans must be made for the times that Kirks left calf breaks or he breaks a pinky bone And I agree, which is why I responded "yes please" to the Brooks rumor. I'd prefer Sessions but I believe I read that he's getting offers of 2M+ so he's probably unrealistic. -
