  1. So the Pacers starting backcourt is currently George Hill and CJ Miles....yikes...And we think the Bulls have guard issues.
  2. Sooo...There's WAR in basketball now I guess....WAR says Jimmy Butler> Lance Stephenson, and Lance is not a "lockdown defender". DRPM has both Jimmy and Kirk better defensively. Another fun "fact" when looking at these stats Dunleavy was better both offensively and defensively than Deng. I have no clue what the hell any of that means, but it's still a little interesting to me.
  3. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) You don't understand how he came up with the name? What's not to understand? It is because the ball leaves the bat like it was shot out of a cannon. I thought it was pretty self explanatory. Seriously....Not to mentions he's called Lexi "Missile" and Dayan "Tank" so it's only natural that he calls Jose "El Cañon".....What I don't understand is people NOT getting it. Hate it or not (I like it) it fits.....Do people really still think when Hawk pronounces it in spanish he's calling him a canyon??? Don't get the hate one bit.
  4. Wonder how much this guy ends up signing for.... Not sure what his story is but he looks like he's a fun lil player who could be the next JLIII/Nate/DJ. I've read he's been on NBA radars for years and that several teams are interested so I kinda doubt he gets the minimum....But then again he's 29 and never played in the NBA so who knows.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) I saw them open for Foo Fighters a few years ago. Good show. Greatest (Non Warped tour) show I've ever been to was Rise Against/Thrice/Gaslight Anthem/Alkaline Trio....Gonna be real hard to ever trump that for me.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) I think referring to Jimmy noBUckets. Whoops...In that case well played. Save some of that hot sauce for the regular season boys.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) I was talking about Paul George. For this roster, he'd be absolutely filthy. Deadly from 3 point range and a lockdown defender at SG (move noBuckets to SF where he belongs). You're better than this. Doug isn't playing SG and that nickname is turrable.
  8. Bairstow continue to looks like a fun player. Real nice jump shot for a big and a "junkyard dog" defensively to use a phrase used earlier.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) What channel is it on? Not on nba network I'm watching it online....is it "illegal" to post those sites here?
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) Thanks. Didn't know they were playing a day game, hope there is a replay. If you are watching, let me know if Billy Baron does anything fun. This. Nothing good outta Baron so far.....McDermott with a "Nate Robinson-esque" 3 that he splashed home. Up to 20 points now I'm aware its summer league but he's still making shots with hands in his face....Also has looked like a solid passer....He's gonna be fun.
  11. Dougie McBuckets looking good again. Quick release, doesn't need a lot of room to get his shot off. 13 points at the half...3/5 from 3.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) Question: Would you trade dunleavy to Denver for Nate Robinson, coming off of an injury, and creating a hole at SF? I honestly think McDermott will give the team just as much as Dunleavy (if not more than). It's just a matter of whether Thibs is willing to give him starters minutes early on. Not sure about trading him for Nate, but I'd be all about trading Dunleavy for a guard and I don't think it'd create much of a hole.
  13. Wow, Dirk takes 3/25 from Mavs after reportedly getting max offers from Houston and LA. Also Anthony Randolh was just waived....Today is his birthday.
  14. Anyone out there going to the Festival of the Lakes in Hammond Friday to check out Sublime With Rome? Anyone ever see them live?
  15. Todays summer league game should be fun to watch. Twolves have Lavine and Glenn Robinson III to throw at Snell and DMD.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) I think Snell is the interesting player regarding McDermott. Say McDermott is competent and not godawful and people want to see him play*****. He looks to be only behind MDJ on the depth at 3. But that assume Jimmy playing guard. If Snell is truly better at 3pt, ballhandling, and D, Thibs may try to take advantage of Jimmy at the 3 more often. If Snell sucks, we have horrible guard depth, for one, but for two, we still have likely game-finish lineups of rose-hinrich-butler-taj-noah (yuck). So McDermott will likely be a 2nd unit-second quarter player for quite a while unless he pushes himself out there. ******for J4L If Rose can be the closer he used to be that wouldn't be the worst lineup in the world. One of the bulls beat guys wondered if they might play Taj on SFs to close out games. Rose-Butler-Taj-Gasol-Noah would be very very interesting. Wouldn't work with some of the faster 3s out there but depending on the matchup I could see it work.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Highly unlikely he becomes a FA. If he did though... In what scenario would he? Don't think it's possible.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:25 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/brad...unted-deal.html I don't really understand what the Astros are doing here. If they can't sign Aiken then they don't have enough $$ to sign their 2nd round pick because of losing the slot amount for the #1 pick. What happens if Aiken doesn't sign? Can he become a free agent right away? If so, I bet Aiken would receive $20+ million on the open market and I would hope that the White Sox would be involved. He just goes to college if he doesn't sign. Which is pretty dumb IMO. I believe he has to wait 2 years and with how hard he throws it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he meets tommy john in those 2 years and doesn't end up getting close to what he could have got this year.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Isn't Mirotic like 6'10", 210lbs. I'm worried he's not going to be able to defend the big 3's and 4's. Worrying about it is valid I think. FWIW though Taj(6'9" 225) and Noah(6'11") aren't exactly huge either and they've done well. Like Bmags has pointed out, reports on his D are actually quite positive. If they can get him to add a bit more muscle he should be fine.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) I think Rollins just blew out his knee Rewatched it because I missed that part somehow, ya something happened to him....Hopefully he just tweaked it.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) I'd say "surprisingly healthy" for him, especially given the minutes he played. Can you at least get my point though...Noah turns 30 this season. He had his best season last year at age 28/29, right when people are supposed to have their best seasons. It shouldn't surprise us all that much if at the end of his career that does wind up being his best season, whether it's because of injury or just performance taking a step back. So if the question was asked "give a reason why the Bulls defense might take a step back this year" I'd have that at the top of my list. That could be offset, of course, if Mirotic and some of the other guys fit into the system well, which they darn well might given that we're replacing Boozer and making the team deeper. Meh, 30 is not that old in the NBA. I guess I just choose not to look at it that way. We already have the "If Rose is healthy" quotes to worry about, I don't wanna have to worry about Noah as well.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) Just answering the question there. IMO that's just a silly answer....I realize Jo has been relativity injury prone, but still saying you expect this defense to take a step back because he was healthy last year is nonsense.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) Because Joakim Noah has something of an injury history that didn't appear much last year and that was key to him being the top defender, but it wouldn't be all that surprising for him to spend some time injured or to take a step back next year given how he plays. Expecting injuries is just not a fun way to look at things...
  24. What a boring first round....Guess that should have been expected at that ball park.
