QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) Bears near a deal with LB DJ Williams. I would be ok with it, if the guy can stay on the field Same. I think he, Bostic, and SMC all compete for 2 spots. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) There is one thing you are forgetting about the Griffen signing, and that's that Spielman did that and Spielman is terrible. I mean, I like Griffen, but that's too much money for a guy who has never been a starter. Like WAAAAAY too much. I feel like the Bills gave Aaron Williams too much money, but he was good last year as a starter and $26 mill over 4 years isn't nearly as bad as $42 mill over 5 years, even if DEs are more valuable overall. Oh I absolutely agree. I said "Ya, hopefully teams realize just how awful that deal is and don't use it as a "measuring stick"" that on another board. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) @BradBiggs One source says #Bears offering $8.5 million per year for Michael Bennett and #Seahawks at $8 million annually. That is word around league. That'd be wild considering what Griffen just got. What's a pack fan doin following Biggs? -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) shefter is tweeting that Seattle is now the favorite to keep Bennett Lame. That bro to bro segment on NFL AM is supposed to be a weekly thing, wouldn't be the same if those 2 weren't on the same team......Or it could be eben better if they throw out a WWE type interview. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 09:43 PM) Winning is always fun. The Bulls and Heat hate each other as well. Also fun. This. Bulls/Heat is the biggest rivalry in basketball. Rivalry games are always huge. -
Teams have interest in Viciedo/De Aza

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) There could be one caveat in here we're not thinking about. If they're considering moving Viciedo for one of the Mariners' expendibles...that would mean they've reached a point of severe unhappiness with Viciedo, either with something building during last season or something that they're really unhappy with about how he came to camp. Otherwise, the only reason to move him would be the M's overpaying by giving up one of the guys people are saying they won't give up. Not necessarily. Were the Sox unhappy with Santiago or Reed? Why would this be any different? -

Everson Griffen gets 5/42.....Yeesh, I was expecting that type of number for Bennett. I'm a little less optimistic about Bennett/Johnson to the Bears now. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) Viciedo definitely plays. It's not even close in my mind. I like De Aza, but he just does not fit on this team anymore. I'd have to disagree that De Aza doesn't fit IF the Sox think the power he displayed last year is legit. If Davidson breaks camp as the everyday 3B then De Aza would be nice to have hitting in the 6-7 spot to break up all the RHH. I loves me some Tank but I wouldn't be mad if he's the one that gets traded. We'd all like for him to be a middle of the order hitter, but with Garcia, Abreu, and potentially Davidson the need for a middle of the order RHH hitter isn't that big. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 7, 2014 -> 12:59 PM) With how short careers are in the NFL? Man, you've got your ring, fill your pockets as much as you can before something on your body gives out. I know what you're saying but still....Winning is fun, also playing with your brother, assuming they're close, which based on what I see on twitter they are, should make up for a few million dollars. I really think the Bears will go the same route as they did with Bushrod last year. While Bushrods cap hit was only 3M, he was still the 2nd highest paid player on the team due to a big ol 11 million dollar signing bonus. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 7, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) Oakland has 66 million dollars in cap room. Jaguars have 55. These teams could offer someone like Bennett or Byrd money that they can't refuse. You might be right but yeesh, could you imagine going from Super Bowl Champ to one of those teams?? yuck. Hopefully winning means at least a little bit to him. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) Haven't been to an ROH show in years, but was fortunate to go to the one in '06 with the Dragon Gate 6-man that earned 5 Stars from Meltzer. It's a small world my friend, I was there as well. The Strong vs Danielson hour long match still ranks up there with the best matches I've ever seen. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) I'm starting to think the Seahawks let Bennett leave. He's a good player, but someone is going to pay him like he is one of the top DE in football. If you believe in PFF he is. 2012 he was the 7th ranked DE in the league and last year he was the 5th. -

Michael C Wright speculates that based on his contract Ratliffs cap number will be 1.4M. My hopes is they bring back Collins on another vet min deal (555k against the cap), go Donald in the first and then grab a big ol run stuffer in the 5th. CAp hit on Donald would be 1.7 while a 5th rounder would be 467k. That's just over 4M and DT should be set. -

Not sure where they got the info since none of the beat reporters have said anything but roto reporter yesterday that the deal for Ratliff is 2/4 with only 600k guaranteed. That's a solid deal. -

What's the deal with Tajh Boyd, where do you guys think he'll go? Wasn't he viewed as a first round talent last year? All he did last season was improve his completion% from 67.2 to 68.5, his passer rating from 165.6 to 168.7, and he threw 2 less ints. Yet now the CBS prospect rankings has him as a 7-UDFA. I know there are "questions" about his size, but it's not like he shrunk. Bears worked him out, if they move on from Josh and got him in the 6th round I'd be thrilled. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) I think the only way Michael signs with the Bears is if Martellus is there. Also, I think McCown is going to ask for $4-5+ mill a year, not as a total for a multi-year deal. Good thing Martellus is indeed a Bear.....McCown at 4-5M wouldn't surprise me either, IF he goes somewhere to be a starter. I can't see the Bears spending 4-5M on a backup. -

STARTING CAP MONEY- 8.4M (per Brad Biggs) RELEASE (w/ Cap savings) Peppers (9.8M) Bush (1.8M) Bennett (2.4) Podlesh (1M) (Kept Weems just because he's a good ST player and only clears a mill) CAP MONEY AFTER CUTS- 23.4 EXTEND Marshall 3 years 7M/12M/15M (saves 2M) CAP MONEY AFTER EXTENSION- 25.4 SIGN (all numbers are cap hits) Michael Bennett- 4 years 8m/10m/12m/14m (DE Seahawks) Corey Wootton 1 year 1.5M Nate Collins 1 year 500k Jay Ratliff 2 years 2M/2.5M DJ Williams 1 year 1M Blake Costanzo 1 year 1M Zack Bowman 2 years 1.5M/1.5M Husain Abdulah 3 years 2M/3M/4M (SS Chiefs) Matt Shaughnessy 2 years 2M/2.5M (DE Cards ((was used as a DE)) ) Josh McCown 2 years 2.5M/2.5M Eben Britton 2 years 1M/1.5M Joe Morgan 3 years 1M/1.5M/2M (WR Saints) Total Cap Spending- 24M TOTAL CAP SPACE LEFT- 1.4m CAP NEEDED FOR DRAFT- 2, 019,139 (per Overthecap.com) RESTRUCTURE Cutler (convert 2M into cap money) MONEY AFTER RESTRUCTURE 3.4m DRAFT 1R Aaron Donald DT Pitt ( "a dream for teams that utillize a 3T DT" ) 2R Keith McGill CB Utah (has been gaining steam since the combine, looks like a 2R pick) 3R Terrence Brooks FS Florida State (Competes and probably beats Conte for FS position) 4R Tyler Gaffney RB Stanford (Takes over the Bush role) 5R Deandre Coleman DT/DE Cal (Can be utilized as a Red Bryant type DE or inside at DT) 6R Jordan Navjar TE Baylor (Underutilized in Baylors O, transfer from TE U, soft hands, good blocker) 6R Best OL Available DL Bennett-Donald-Paea/Ratliff/Coleman-Wootton/Shaughnessy/Coleman/Bass/Washington- Bennett and Donald are locks, the other 2 spots have good competition. LB Briggs and then Williams, Bostic, and SMC battle for 2 spots CB Jennings-McGill-Frey-Bowman-Hayden. Bowman showed he was capable incase McGill slips. Hayden competes with Frey for the nickle FS Brooks/Conte. Phil said Conte would compete for the job so I didn't spend money or a top 2 pick on the position. Brooks probably wins the job, Conte stays for depth SS Abdullah/Derrick Martin Thoughts? -
