  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) Why the f*** is Dayan Viciedo on the White Sox if he's never going to play vs RHP? Just deal him then. I really think the plan is just start ADA 5 days a week, boost up his trade value, then trade him at the deadline. You're gonna get a lot more value for a full time player vs platooning the 2 and trying to trade one. Zero problem with this if that's the case.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) you are eternally the fan of the Indy worker. in every sport QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) Lol c'mon guys, I didn't think green was needed. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) With you, YES it is. LMAO. Bears are bringing Jordan Lynch in for a 2nd meeting Man I sure hope the Bears draft him, working with Trestman I think he'll be the 2nd coming of Steve Young! That better Kyyle?
  3. Attendance is obviously down because the official calender the Sox sent out said this was a 7:10 game....Kidding about the reason, not kidding about the calender.
  4. I'll take that start. If he's this years Hector Santiago I'm cool with it.....Perhaps pitching him behind Sale is a good idea with the thought that a lot of the bullpen gets the day off the day before.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 02:01 PM) Paulino reminds me of Edwin - about 100 pitches thru 3 innings, several K's, a few runs. Hextor Santiago kinda fits that mold as well, that's who he kinda reminds me of.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 01:37 PM) If Viciedo is just going to be a platoon player this year, then the Sox won't even be able to get a glorified platoon player for him next year when his salary jumps again. Or they could just showcase De Aza by playing him 5 times a week and hope to get maximum value for him vs trading someone who could be perceived as a platoon player.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 06:42 AM) Emery was hilariously awkward. Talking about buyers remorse, Allen taking out Lance Louis, Mel Tucker recruiting. Lol he was all over the place. I'm pumped to see 69 in a bears uniform, I think he is gonna cause havoc I'm pumped for this team in general. Absolutely love what they've done so far.....20 days till training camp...Can't wait to hear how good Fendi Onubun looks.
  8. "Hipster questions of the day" (since there's no catch all) Did anyone that went try out the new craft bears they're selling?? Any good?? How much??? Also anyone know if e-cigs are allowed in??
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) Tag titles are not fine. One month ago they were around the new age outlaws. They mean nothing to wwe and sadly NAO are facing the Shield at Mania. NAO mean something to WWE, mainly HHH, they just don't mean anything to todays fan.
  10. THIS IS REAL!! Ya know, I don't hate(nor love) the Gillaspie in the 3 hole move. I kinda liken it to the Ramirez move to the 3 hole. Batting him 3rd should get him a lot of good pitches to hit, and based on fangraphs he was an above average fastball hitter...But then again based on the whole fastball logic ADA was the 2nd best fastball hitter on the team.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) Athleticism. Just think of how J4L would evaluate him for the NBA and that's the knock. IMO he's a contributor and maybe a starter. Maybe. He's better than Mullens and Koufos and they play. Just based on his 3 games in the tourney, I'd have to agree that he looks like he could be, at worst, a guy who comes off the bench to stretch the floor. If he really is viewed as a 2nd round pick I'd love to see him backing up Jo. Throwing him out there with Jo or Taj would open up the lane for those guys to go to work.
  12. What's the knock on Kaminsky? Is the only reason I'm not seeing him on any draft boards is because he's a junior and is expected to return?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) So it is pretty much a done deal that we get their pick this year, right? It was top 10 protected? Ya, it's top 10 protected (rankings from the bottom) 14. Bobcats 35-38 10. Knicks 30-43 9. Cleveland 29-45 I believe that would make their "Magic number" 4(?)
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) I'm hoping they lose out just because I think it would be awesome to see a team have a 36 game losing streak to end a season. Seeing as they play the Bobcats twice it sure would be nice. If the Bobcats win just those 2 games they'll finish with 37 wins. New York, who's currently in the (bottom) 10 spot, would have to go 8-1 to knock the Cats into the bottom 10.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) But those are actually the kind of versatile veteran bench players we need. I'd rather have him than Keppinger, at least. And he would make the minumum salary. Liddi is a guy who would have had to of forced his way onto the team, after batting just .192 he just didn't do that.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 10:00 PM) Liddi would be the perfect Jeff Keppinger (with a bit more pop and the ability to play OF) if we didn't already have Keppinger. They probably prefer Garcia's defensive ability and baserunning skills. Yet another example of the effect of Paul Konerko on the roster possibilities. I'm pretty positive he was being sarcastic. Liddi has no business being in the big leagues.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) You make some good points. However, 90% of the time when you buy a free agent after he's had a great contract drive year, you'll end up disappointed. Think Adrian Beltre to the Mariners. He would be one of the obvious targets, though. And of course you have to think about the time period of adjustment to playing in the AL. A lot of hitters have struggled (including Dunn) in that transition. It's one thing if you can get Sandoval for four years. It's quite another when you talk about 5-6-7 years for someone who has had such a spotty injury history the last couple of seasons. Just because he's in shape and motivated now doesn't mean that will continue indefinitely. Assuming Rasmus has a good first half, wouldn't trading for him be similar to buying a free agent who had a great contract year? The difference between the 2 is Sandoval has been good for 5 years, and Rasmus really only had 1.5 good months(thus far). We are of course talking about trading for these guys though, so if he needs time to adjust to the AL(I'm not convinced this is a real thing) then he'll have a few months to do so. I know money is a factor, Rasmus will probably be much cheaper, but Sandoval is absolutely a guy I'd take a chance on.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) Assuming Sandoval has a solid, injury-free season, would you be willing to commit $100-125 million at his age and recent history? You're basically signing a DH, ala Dunn, but you're going to be paying him even more than Dunn. It would be different if he was capable of playing 3B everyday, but we already have Davidson, and Sandoval's not LH, either. Sandoval and Rasmus ironically were born on the same day so if age is a concern for you then you should share that same concern with Rasmus. Sandoval has got himself in great shape this offseason, again he can rotate with Davidson and Abreu so he offers more versatility than Dunn (yes, I know Dunn can play 1B/OF in a pinch, but Sandoval isn't half bad defensively IIRC). He's also a much better hitter than Dunn. Sandoval is a switch hitter who holds a split of .294/.353/.499 vs RH pitching. Sox will have plenty of $$ to pay him.
  19. If we're talking about trading for guys who are FAs next year I'd rather trade for Sandoval if he's made available. Assuming they trade Dunn, Panda can rotate between DH/1B/3B. Keep ADA, trade Tank. Ride it with/goinng into 2015 with.... Eaton Semien Abreu Sandoval Garcia Davidson De Aza Catcher SS.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Bostic played most of the year with nothing around him. I want to see him around real NFL linebackers, hell real NFL defenders, before making a good judgement I think him playing behind a real defensive line will work wonders. I can't imagine they give up on him a year removed from drafting him in the 2nd round. He may end up at SAM with Williams in the middle, but I just can't see him on the bench. BTW Allens cap hit this year is 3 mill. Goes up to 12.5 next year. If overthecap.com numbers are correct the last 2 years are basically option years for 8.5 and 8 mill respectively. The 12.5 mill number looks a little high, but if the league salary number goes up to 140 next year the Bears still have 43 mill in cap space at this point for 2015. That's with Marshall being the only big time FA hitting the market....Unless you put Briggs in that category.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 11:31 PM) If Veal makes this roster I'm going to throw up. Veal was really good the final 2 months of last season, and he was dynamite in 2012. As a 2nd lefty on a team that probably isn't going to contend, they could do far worse than giving him a roster spot.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) Yeah, that's exactly right. I basically want to keep trying for gold with the Onubun's etc. Waters was a TE at Missouri who basically did nothing reception wise, but blocked well, and then just tore it up on pro-day. If he does well, great, if not, not a lot of opportunity cost there. Meh, I'd much rather take a "proven" guy. TE was a fairly big part of the offense last year, if Bennett goes down I'd like something more than Rosario and a couple question marks like Onubun (though I do still have some hope he finally takes a step) or Waters.
