  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 2, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) A few days stale, but KENTA has left NOAH, no official word, but looks like he'll be coming to WWE. Really interested to see how they handle him. I came here to report the same thing. He's been with NOAH forever so I can't see him not coming to the E now. I'd cream in my pants if they bring him in and play on his and Bryan's past feud right off the bat. That instantly gets him over and sets up for a really fun feud. Maybe make him a "Hired assassin" for the corporation.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 2, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) Messina I think will get a NBA job. Probably this year if not the next one. He would be a great hire for the Bulls. But Thibs is a better coach than just about anyone so I'd hope we'd have to be overwhelmed to move him. If the Lakers give up a top 5 pick I'd be all for making that trade. I've been doing a lot of reading up on Dante Exum and I'd really love to see him as the SG of the future. With the injury concerns of Rose, Exums ability to play the point as well also really helps his case. Putting on my GM cap, and assuming they don't get Melo(or any other big ticket guys), I'd love to see.... If Mirotic doesn't come over Rose-Clarkson-Vet Exum-Clarkson-Snell Butler-Dunleavy Taj-Payne Noah-Austin Should Rose go down you then have Exum-Butler-Dunleavy-Taj-Noah If Mirotic does come over... Rose-Clarkson Exum-Staukas Butler-Dunleavy Taj-Mirotic Noah-Austin And of course if Lakers get a top 3 pick you hope for Wiggins/Parker to replace Exum.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) I think he would have to get his feet wet as an assistant before he was hired as a head coach. Hoiberg played in the NBA, worked on the Twolves staff and in their front office, and now has 3 seasons behind him as a collegiate head coach. The Euro leagues have made strides to close the competition gap, but come on now, it isnt the NBA. FWIW, he was an assistant for the Lakers in 2013 before a Euro League paid him big bucks to come back. Certainly not calling for his hiring, but I just thought it was a little interesting that he coached Mirotic. Thoughts on Lionel Hollins?? Why wasn't he brought back last year after going 56-26 and making it to the conference finals?
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2014 -> 06:48 AM) No way in hell the bulls go after a euro league coach Meh, probably not, but any particular reason why? You think he'd be a "rebuilding" type coach? If so what sets him apart from Hoiberg? Dude is 760-218 in Europe and said to be an "offensive guru". You know I'm all about that outside the box option.....I can see reasons for not wanting him though. Lionel Hollins would be the guy I want though. He was very successful, in the West no less, with a team that is built just like the Bulls. I think this will all be moot point though cause I doubt Thibs leaves.
  5. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 1, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) If what I heard on the score was correct there's another "loophole" that hasn't been talked about. The Bulls can tell the Lakers who they want them to draft then they make the deal with said pick. My question is...Can the Bulls interview other people while Thibs is still the coach? If so and GarPax find someone they like I'd make that deal (Thibs for a lottery pick) all day. This post was lost in the shuffle.... Another interesting angle is that "European coaching legend" Ettore Messina has reportedly thrown his hat in the mix of potential head coaches. What's interesting about that is he used to coach Mirotic, so that could make him(Mirotic) more inclined to come over which could be huge. Past Messina there are also a ton of other solid names out there. Lionel Hollins, who I think would be a great fit(Seeing as the Bulls and Griz play so similarly), is out there. Jeff Van Gundy could return to coaching. Byron Scott who's a lil meh. Then the intriguing first year NBA HC guys like Kerr, Ollie, and Hoiberg. I think it'd be a real interesting year to do this
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 1, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Apparently the loophole in the Ted Stepien rule is that if the Bulls sent one of their other 1st round picks, they can acquire the Lakers pick. A team MUST have at least one 1st round pick every other year. If what I heard on the score was correct there's another "loophole" that hasn't been talked about. The Bulls can tell the Lakers who they want them to draft then they make the deal with said pick. My question is...Can the Bulls interview other people while Thibs is still the coach? If so and GarPax find someone they like I'd make that deal (Thibs for a lottery pick) all day.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) The worst hitter on the team is hitting second...makes a lot of sense. Sans 2 good games Semien hasn't been any better. I know I'm cherry picking again, but he went 8 for 11 in 2 games this year, the other 26 games he's batting .170 with 37 strike outs.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) Is it Tom Skilling? They had weather day at the park today and he was the main speaker. Naw, some morning guy.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Who is in the booth with that pathetic first pitch? Don't have sound A weather man for WGN.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 01:37 PM) Hey so....when does De Aza get shipped out of here At this rate? Whenever his contract is up. I believe he'll pick it up at some point though.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) Depends on what CB's are on the board. You could go with a guy like Pierre Desir right there. If offense, I would go Jace Amaro if available. Hageman would be a steal at 51 though. With the big board we're using over there Roberson, Gaines, Breeland, Baptiste, J. Watkins and Desir were all there and ranked in the top 100. Rankings are of course arbitrary but Hageman was ranked 33rd, Gaines 57th, Roberson(Who I like better) 64th, Brooks 72nd. I just couldn't pass on Hageman.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Why? Think it could be a "get away day" thing. Sans the pitch to Hunter that was crushed I like the way Noesi attacked hitters inside that inning. Keep it in there at 94 and he should be fine.
  13. Spanky is a boss in CF. Wasn't everyone saying he was below average out there?
  14. So we're doing a community mock draft over on talkbears and I was put in charge of the Bears. I went with Donald in the first and faced a real interesting choice in the 2nd. I had planned to go FS but HHCD, Pryor, Buccanon, Ward, and Joyner were all gone. Terrence Brooks, who I kinda like, was the top ranked FS there...butttt I had RaShede Hageman staring at me as the clear BPA. I really think Ratliff should be a rotational player at this point in his career, and Hageman offers the versatility Emery likes(Can play anywhere on the DL). Given the situation who would you take? Hageman? Brooks? Marcus Roberson? Phillip Gaines? "Shock the world" with Allen Robinson or Austin Serafain-Jenkins? I went all Tommie Harris/Tank Johnson on the draft and went with Hageman with guys like Ed Reynolds, Dion Bailey, Tre Boston, Antone Exum, and Brook Vereen in mind to play centerfield.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 11:12 PM) Maybe the Sox beat writers could quote some anonymous scout sources and find out if Dunn has any value as far as a possible trade. My guess is a big fat NO. What team would trade for Adam Dunn unless the Sox pay for the rest of the deal? It makes no sense after his body of work on the south side. The GM would have to be nuts IMO. It's been a month now and he's still hitting .280. If he keeps it up any team in need of a DH/1B would love to have him. His previous body of work be damned some team is gonna believe they can get this version of Dunn for a few months down the stretch. Dunn is currently 6th in OPS for 1B/DH. We've praised Steverson for other guys, but I feel like that same praise hasn't spread over to what he's Dunn with Dunn.
  16. I've been one of Dunns biggest supporters here and even I feel like he should be dealt at the deadline. Not because I think he's a detriment to the team but because of the value(if he continues to hit like this) he could potentially bring would be nice. I kinda doubt he'll continue to hit .280 but even if he's in the .240-260 range, a range that got him 15 mill a year, will take a chance on giving up something valuable for him. If they find themselves in a position where they could use his bat in the offseason they could just resign him for a year....DH position should really go to Tank next year though.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) I think that was supposed to be Josh Morgan. They also got that speedburner from the CFL(Williams?) Did he have a hand transplant? Brandon Marshall fixed em in Florida. Don't get me started on Chris Williams
  18. Just for Kyyle... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ml#.U1-msq1dXgI
  19. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 09:59 AM) Clearly speculation, but an interesting thought. Could The Sox Turn to Gregg? One could argue that Gregg isn't even an upgrade over Lindstrom.
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 05:22 PM) Seriously? That's your attempt to steer it back towards basketball? Talking about a 6'2"/6'3" shooting guard that has hit about 26% of his NBA 3's? Is it not something else to talk about? I didn't know it had to be some earthshaking news to break the fili talk.
  21. In efforts it turn this back to basketball....What's the scouting report on Nolan Smith...Sounds like he might be Thibs next reclamation project...Good move?
