  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 10, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) It is funny reading grades and people analyzing 5-7th round picks. Sure, a small percentage make an impact but a vast majority will be cut or replaced by another 6th round pick within a year or two. Tom Brady going in the 6th round was the worst thing to happen to the draft. Gives people hope of finding that late round gem. This draft is stacked though, I can certainly see a lot of these 5-7 round guys sticking.
  2. A punter!!! Ole! Damn, dude has 4.6 speed and benched 225 23 times as a punter.
  3. David Fales....I dig it. Trestman gets a guy to work his magic on.
  4. Vereens combine ranks among FSs 5th best 40 @ 4.47 Best 20 yard shuttle by .08 seconds Best cone drill by .07 seconds Most reps with 25 Tremendous athlete. If he fails at FS the Bears are gonna need another CB next year anyway so the versatility is nice as well Only knock on him is his arms are really short.
  5. The trade up was for a 5th this year and next, Bears also get a 7th rounder this year. Now I have some interest in the 7th round.
  6. Bears trade up to snag Brrrrroooock Vereen! Love it. (The wrestling fans here will appreciate the drawn out Brock)
  7. Phil or Trestman, I don't remember who, said pass protection was key in the #2 back and I'm reading Carey is one of the best pass protectors in the class.
  8. It was a need, but wish they woulda waited a bit.
  9. I've long thought the Bears needed to draft 2 DTs early on. Ego and Sutton aren't the names I had in mind but based on what was there I don't necessarily think they're bad picks. Ego looks the part of a run stuffing 1 tech which the Bears sorely needed. I can imagine if Jernigan fell a few more spots he would have been the guy but sadly he was gone. You would have thunk Nix would be a better option, but the Bears did work him out before the draft so they apparently didn't like what they saw or didn't think he'd be a fit in this 1 gap system. After those guys it could be argued that Ego was the next best run stuffer....Could they have traded back and still got him? Ya, possibly, but if they're that high on him I don't mind taking him right there. Sutton has the potential to be a steal if he can get his weight back in check. Good with his hands, good pass rush skills, should be a solid 3 tech. Heard a quote from some talking head awhile back that this draft is so loaded that there's gonna be 4th round guys with 2nd round talent. Based on a lot of what has been drafted so far that seems to hold true. While most mocks had Ego in the 3/4R he still very well could have a 2R grade by most teams. I still like some of the potential out there at FS. Not a lot of highlights out there on Brock Vereen so I'm only going off what I've read, and from what I've read I really like him. I'm hoping he's the pick in the 4th. The you have guys like Ed Reynolds, Marqueston Huff, Tre Boston and a plethora of CBs who might be ripe to make the conversion to S in Keith McGill, Antone Exum, Lucheiz Purifoy, Walt Aikens(All 4 have FS experience), and then Pierre Desir might also have the potential to play FS. I'd be a little surprised if one of the above isn't the pick in the 4th.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2014 -> 07:29 PM) @BradBiggs: I am told #Bears are drafting LSU DT Ego Ferguson with 51st overall pick in 2nd round. Way to ruin it lol
  11. Josh Gordon suspended for the year. I know no one cares but it's been a bad year for my keeper leagues. Kept Patrick Corbin in the soxtalk keeper league, out for the year, and now Gordon.
  12. Depending on where in the 2R I think I'd do that speculated trade, esp in this draft. Team is built to win now IMO so I'd sacrifice a bit. If they could come away with Hageman/Tuitt and Joyner/Brooks I think it'd be a really solid move. You figure if they have a 1st round grade on Hageman it's basically trading a 1st this year for a 1st next year. Worth noting that the Bears should have "loads" of money next year so any glaring hole could be filled in FA.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 9, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) I really think that there's a chance they go RB or TE tonight. I'd be totally fine with DT in round 2 and Wyoming S Marqueston Huff in rd 3 though. I'd kinda hate seeing a RB, I know Forte has some injury concerns so it does make some since, but I'd rather wait till the 4/5/6 and grab a guy Tyler Gaffney or Marion Grice. RBs in this league seem to be a dime a dozen. TE would be fairly interesting but with DT and S needs looming, depending on who is there, I'd probably wait. I still have my heart set on the Bears taking Colt Lyerla and hoping that pairing him with Long keeps him out of trouble. In my book ideally it goes... 2R- Hageman/Tuitt 3R- Brooks 4R- Bullough (I've sort of been against drafting another LB but I suppose with Briggs probably gone next year it doesn't hurt) 5R- Lyerla 6R- Gaffney 6R- Bromley
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) What is the knock on Hageman, motor? Because the guy is a giant, isnt he? Motor and lack of production. His measurables are off the charts though. 6'6" 310 pounds, long 34 inch arms which make his 32 reps at the combine that much more impressive. He was near the top 5 in just about every category at the combine. In the 1R I wouldn't have been that big a fan of the pick, but in the 2nd I'd be all over him. Tuitt would be nice as well I'm hoping for Situation A 2R- Hageman/Tuitt 3R- Joyner/Brooks/Vereen/Reynolds/McGill/SJB or Situation B 2R- Joyner/Brooks 3R- Ried/Quarles/Sutton/Jones
  15. QUOTE (Boogua @ May 8, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) Don't be surprised if he moves to safety: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being a safety,” a second scout said. “He’s just a really good football player from the standpoint he knows what he’s seeing. There were a couple games he played the Will linebacker spot against the option teams. He’s just a smart football player, and he’s got the talent, too. I’m not going to say he can’t play corner in the NFL, but I think he has the potential to be a Pro Bowl-caliber safety, whereas he doesn’t have the elite speed outside, that might hurt him at times out there (at cornerback).” From: http://www.packersnews.com/article/2014043...;nclick_check=1 This is the most intriguing post I've read. Perhaps that scout was a Bears scout and this is the plan. Edit...Speaking of intriguing, I have no clue why the Chiefs would wanna do this or if there's any legitimacy behind it but supposedly Eric Berry could be had for a 2R pick(and then some probably). http://sportsmockery.com/messageboard/post...at-a-good-price After a quick google search it does seem like there may be some legs to it, but I don't see any of the big sites reporting it.....Cap wise I'm not sure how the Bears would do it though. I'd absolutely love for it to be true and the Bears are the team that makes it happen...
  16. I really dislike it as well, but trying to rationalize a bit Having 3 good CBs out there, in this league, would be nice though. Esp. with the new DEs they brought in. I believe Houston and Young were both near the top of the league in hurries/hits last year, and Jared Allen is Jared Allen. You let those guys pin their ears back and rush the passer with good coverage behind them and all of a sudden a lot of those hurries/hits turn into sacks. Given what was on the board I def would have gone S, but I suppose Emery wasn't lying when he was talking about how he'd like to be talking extension with Conte next year and that he'd be competing for a job. I thought that meant that he wouldn't go S really early, and I may have been right on that. Right now with Hageman/Tuitt/Jernigan and even Nix still out there not "reaching" for one of those guys may turn out to be solid. It'll be interesting to see what they do if one or 2 of those guys are there as well as the 2 FSU guys Brooks/Joyner, who I think might have day 1 starting ability, who they take. I probably couldn't pass on one of those DLmen. I still like Ed Reynolds, Brock Vereen, a little intrigued by Huff, and really intrigued, maybe not so much from a talent perspective, about the possibility of converting a guy like SJB, Antone Exum, Keith Mcgill, or Jaylen Watkins in the 3rd.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) Kyle Long is a pretty awesome dude. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...b7-d87f8d17d585 Ya, he previously had off the field issues that certainly look like a thing of the past now. Somewhat on subject, he's good friends with Colt Lyerla, the Oregon TE who draws comps to Gronk, but off the field issues are pushing him to the back of the draft. I'd love for the Bears to snag him as high as the 5th. Could probably get him in the 6th but I think in this scenario he's worth reaching for to assure you get your hands on him. Perhaps pairing him with Long will keep him out of trouble and he can reach reach his potential.
  18. Fun fact....The White Sox bullpen has given up 4 HRs all year....Addison Reed? He's given up 4 all by himself.
  19. Obviously because Matt Lindstrom is a boss.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) That.was.awesome.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 2, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) Have you read anything on him lately? I heard a little bit back it was a strong possibility he'd be coming to WWE, but never saw if anything was finalized. I don't think he's been confirmed, but just like KENTA he had his last match for NJPW a little bit ago so you'd think that should be a telling sign. I can't see KENTA and Devitt, who are incredibly over in japan, leaving NOAH/NJPW for no other reason but to go the the WWE.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 2, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) Does he speak English? If not prepare to be gimmick heavy I'm not sure that he does.....In the dream situation where he's a "corporate assassin" HHH can do all his talking.....Then after that runs its course make him a Heyman guy....Then after that throw him and english speaking tag partner(if he hasn't already learned some english). Maybe a guy like Prince Devitt. With his talent I'd make it work.
