QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) I would guess the SHIELD as a group is done. Time for them to have singles careers. Unless they do indeed add a new member tonight. With them needing to find a partner they could set that up. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) Minnesota would never trade Love for Noah because Noah would never stay there. now is the time that I would sell high on Joakim though. He is a free agent again in 2016 and will cost a hell of a lot more than he's worth. FWIW he'd be playing with Corey Brewer, his former college teammate and good friend, so there's that. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) But you are basically replacing every defender on the bulls. That's a lot of work to get them to play D together in Thibs system. I'm swapping Noah for Dieng, there's a drop off there but it isn't huge. Dunleavy for Melo, I don't even remember if Dunleavy was any good defensively. Love for Boozer is probably a push if not a slight advantage to Love. Taj for Payne, I've read mixed reviews on Paynes D. We've seen guys like Nate Robinson and Kyle Korver come in here and play capable D. I think they'd be fine. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) Not too familiar with Graves character but Zayn/Neville don't fit at all. Graves is pretty much CM Punk. I think if you throw a flak jacket on anyone they'd fit. I've seen Generico as a heel and it worked. He'd obviously be a better babyface but I think it'd work. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) I'm not a big fan of adding anyone to them. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Add a NXT guy and they're instantly over. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) Wwe may or may not be looking to add a member of the Shield. Really the two that makes even a little sense to me aren't currently in WWE right now. Sting and Punk make more sense than anyone but really aren't perfect matches either. I really think any nxt guy makes sense. Throw Zayn/Neville/Graves out there. -

Agreed. I wonder if they'll have 2 MITB matches, one for the title and one for the brief case. I believe there's a Brock Lesnar to win the title MITB match rumor floating around yes? If they have 2 matches I'd love to see Cesaro win the other to set up a Lesnar/Cesaro feud. EDIT Whoa Soxfan, that's kinda eery. -
Im from East Chicago, having a hood relationship is just street lingo for bein "boyz" out here....Ask Greg Popovich(also from EC), he'll tell you whats up

Doesn't Hahn supposedly have a good relationship with Boras?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 11:34 AM) This is absolutely ridiculous too. YOU don't imagine he will commit fewer than that. If he makes it to the majors as a full time player, it's not likely going to be until 2017. That is going to give him 2 and a half more years to improve his glove. That is plenty of time. Agreed Also worth noting, I remember reading an article last year about Winston Salems infield being in pretty bad shape condition wise as well. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case with most every minor league stadium.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Right, I feel like that's the Houston Rockets. To be honest, I think a lineup of Rose-Butler-Dunleavy-Love-Noah would probably be a better team than that rose - melo - love lineup. Meh, I know the scenario I threw out there would never happen, but I can't see how that would be better. Don't sleep on the Gorgui Dieng part of the Love trade, I think that kid will be pretty damn good. I also wouldn't be surprised if under Thibs Melo becomes a solid defender. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) For future reference, Chris Sale at 108 pitches, Robin is an idiot if he lets him face the next hitter if the game is on the line, let alone Mike Trout. Soxtalk would rather see Petricka face him. People are acting like the hits he had given up were rockets all over the place. If that is how you really feel, one thing is certain. Chris Sale INAA. Not to mention if Lexi turns the DP like he should have and the ump calls Kendrick out on the check swing like he should have they never would have even been in the situation to lose that game. If we wanna talk in hindsight why aren't we talking about those 2 plays? Sale was absolutely still pitching well enough to stay in that ball game. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) no, not in a rebuilding/reloading season. Agreed. And even though I've "defended" Robin, I wouldn't be at all shocked if he's fired if the play as of lately continues. Way I see it is this is his "tie breaker year", he looked good in year 1 and dreadful in year 2..... But then again, I still buy the whole "Managers don't matter" line Hawk threw out there awhile ago.....Like Greg (Ironically) said in the NBA thread, players win games. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 08:49 AM) I don't think significantly downgrading our C position to significantly upgrade our PF is what anyone on bulls would be looking for. We'd also be the first team to ever give up that much for a superstar. But the move also allows them to add another star. I admit it's a bit off the wall and something they'd never do, but it's all for funsies. Rose/Love/Melo AND picks IMO would be wayy better than Rose/Love/Noah and no picks. Latest I've heard about offers for Love is that the best offer has been Goran Dragic, 2 1st rounders, and cap filler. IMO in order to top that the Bulls would have to throw Noah out there. Now if Love came out said he didn't wanna play for the Suns then that changes things a bit. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 09:51 PM) Stupid. Somebody should have asked Robin if he liked playing the outfield in case he was needed out there. Sox are desperate for outfielders obviously. No, they simply have too many middle infielders. Can't play em all, someones gotta move.

2014 White Sox draft pick thread

Perhaps somewhat interesting to point out. Jarvis is now the 3rd guy from the Banditos Baseball Club they've signed in a row. Hawkins in 2012 and Thad Lowry last year, perhaps that might have something to do with him signing. Other Alums include Paul Goldshmidt, Nick Williams(#97 prospect by BA), Troy Patton(big league reliever), Jameson Tallion(#22), and Kohl Stewart(#52)....So they churn out some pretty good players. -

Whoa, had no idea Pop was from East Chicago...I was born in EC. I now have a legit reason to root for the Spurs. NWI Represent! -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) Depends if you view a top prospect list as far as production/floor or potential/ceiling. Guys like Rodon, Anderson and Hawkins/Adams (even without him throwing a single pitch yet) for me are without a doubt our top 3-4. But I've always viewed potential higher for years on this board, sans the occasional few (or "favorites" of mine if you will). I don't blame others though at looking at the production/floor players (likely big leaguers) though. You don't find many Evan Longoria/Buster Posey types that are pretty much both from the start. Maybe I've been listening to Hawk to much, but I really think Micah will be an impact player. I will say that I just checked out Andersons stats and I may be "sleeping" on him a bit. Guess I'm just going off "buzz" and it seemed like Micah had been getting more around here. Both are highly intriguing.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) So what do we do with Sanchez? IMO either he or Semien should be at SS everyday....Unless they have no plans to move Lexi anytime soon. Micah, as far as I know, can't/isn't going to be playing SS, so unless they plan on moving him to the OF he should be at 2B everyday. With Semien getting some time in the OF they should just go all out and stick him there until he proves he's not passable there. So I'd go Semien LF Sanchez SS Johnson 2B with Saladino rotating between 3B/SS/2B/OF/DH.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Well he personally installed the hindsight machine on the fundamentals deck. All ya gotta do is walk up to the machine, tell it you're butthurt from grown men losing a game, and then it spits out a more desirable outcome. The bigger the ego the harder it works. But don't ever go up there after a good decision because it'll race you home and crawl into bed with your wife. Can we get one of those installed and placed on soxtalk?? This place would be a lot more enjoyable. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 06:58 AM) Love is out of there. I heard yesterday, probably by the end of draft night. I tend to agree. It'd probably never happen, but would anyone be against trading Noah for Love? I've had this "off the wall" crazy talk offseason plan brewing in my head and just waiting to throw out there to get bashed.....Since no one cares about this thread I'll have at it.... Noah/Mirotic/Dunleavy For Love/Dieng....This seems like a lot, but I think it's gonna take a lot to get Love, and I love Dieng. Not giving up any picks is a plus as well. Taj to the Bobcats/Hornets for the #9 pick. Throw in a future 1st if need be. With Love here the need for Taj is lessened and clearing the money sets up the Bulls to add another star I THINK. Hornets need a PF and there's not gonna be a better one available at 9. Amnesty Boozer. Love is set to make 15M this year and has a player option for 16M the following year. He wants to play with Rose so I think he picks that player option up. So for 2014/15 after the trades and amnesty the Bulls would have ~23M. If Melo isn't lying about willing to take less money to play for a title contender then maybe they can sign him for ~18M. That leaves them ~5M for all the rookies. Pick 9/16/19 will cost a little over 4.6. Draft Lavine at 9, he's versatile enough to play both PG and SG. Draft Payne at 16, backs up Love, and might be able to handle some centers in the NBA. Draft Jusif Nurkic at 19, he backs up Dieng and offers some intriguing upside. The lastly take DeAndre Kane at 49. Roster sets up as Rose/Lavine/Kane Butler/Lavine/Snell Melo/Snell/Brewer Love/Payne/Smith Dieng/Nurkic BOOM. TITLES. Never gonna happen but my god would it be awesome to see. Commence with "The awful Bulls FO would never do this" "Jo is too valuable" or que Zoom to tell me it wouldn't work financially.....Or just ignore it like the rest of this thread. Just wasting some time so it's all good. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) There's really no question that Anderson is our #2 prospect after Rodon and by quite a bit of margin. Both guys should finish in the top 50 prospects at a minimum and both have top 10 overall potential (probably not this year, but possibly after 2015). The overall system is still pretty week, but the top 10 to 15 guys make up a pretty good group of prospects and eventually the Latin American signings will start having a presence over here. System is definitely on the up-swing but it still has ways to go until becomes top 10 worthy. I'd say that's debatable, Micah Johnson looks like he could be a stud if he finds a home defensively. Anderson might be ahead of him but I wouldn't say the margin is that big.

Looks like Ben Brewster might have a future as a pitching coach. He runs a website called Tread Athletics for "Elite Baseball Performance" This is a good read on Brewster's path to where he is... http://www.treadathletics.com/why-us.html I'm rooting for this kid a bit more now. Also in the "About us" section, it claims Brewster has touched 102 before.
