AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
2nd_city_saint787 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I IMO he's been a solid #2 this year. Fun cherry picking stat that everyone loves.... in his 11 QS, only 8 pitchers have more, he has a 2.71 ERA with a 1.12 Whip. -
Danks wasn't great tonight, but this will be his 11th quality start in 13 starts....Only 8 pitchers in baseball have more. His ERA, at least for the moment, is under 4.

I miss last years ADA =(.. Crazy to think that man slashed .309/.348/.515 w/RISP.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) No reason to let Nieto catch for Danks, I mean, what has Danks even done the past 4 starts or so? FWIW Flowers did catch him in LA (2nd to last start) and he was fine. Hope Danks keeps it and continues to be one of the better starters around.

Dickerson would be a huge get IMO. He'd probably require a pretty solid package, perhaps just as much as Joc....Maybe a bit more realistic, if the Sox see themselves competing soon, could be Gerardo Parra or Seth Smith. Smith is getting up there in age but if the plan is to compete next year I think he's the type of guy who would look real nice in the lineup.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 12:03 AM) Agreeing with the people that say first. Sale - Tanaka - Quintana at the front of the rotation, a serviceable Noesi and Danks. Bullpen is likely taxed less. The ultimate "coulda been" rotation: Sale - Tanaka - Rodon - Quintana - Montas/Danish/Adams/Beck/EJ Needs more Danks.... Sale-Tanaka-Rodon-Quintana-Danks would be ridiculous.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 04:43 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/news/despite-disap...-071421653.html Cleveland, the Bulls, Houston, Phoenix, Dallas and the LA Clippers are the logical other options, but LA won't have the cap room next year. With Cleveland, he has that history to answer (about his departure and The Decision show) the Bulls, the comparisons to Jordan and questions whether Rose will ever be 100% again...Houston, whether he could co-exist with Dwight Howard and whether Howard's career can be resurrected and then Phoenix/Dallas weren't even playoff teams, so they'd have to add additional talent to make a go at attracting James. This wouldn't surprise me one bit. Thibs is the next best thing to Pop and he saw first hand what a great coach can do. If I was him, playing for Thibs would be my first choice. It's gonna be a real interesting offseason that's for sure. I'll join the "This FO sucks" bandwagon if they don't manage to grab Melo/Love/James/Bosh. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:26 PM) Bulls make moves to better their team all the time. Dont know what you're talking about there. Incrementally so, but they do. Don't trade 2 first round draft picks to take a completely one dimensional player. For the love of god dont. I'm all for trading up though. I agree they do, I'm just kinda mocking this board who claims such things. I wouldn't say Nik is one dimensional, at least not from what I've read. At the very least his "one dimension", shooting, is the one dimension this team really needs a lot more of. Don't count out Gary Harris as the guy either....You say you're all for trading up, so who would you like to trade up for? SG is the teams biggest need ATM and those 2 guys are the best SGs you're gonna get unless you somehow think they can trade up to get Parker/Wiggins/Exum. -
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) So you are trying to say that a team would give up a good prospect for Danks? I'm trying to say he hasn't been mediocre and I wouldn't trade him. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:37 PM) I guess just giving Davidson the position would make sense...but probably not. Conor has to show SOME power to get anything of value back because everyone expects his average to fall back to career norms and his defense is just average. Semien's your back-up option for the moment over there. Semien has proven he can play 3B so if they trade Gillaspie over Beckham it'd be to play Semien. If I were the Sox I'd dangle Beckham and Gillaspie out there and trade the one that gives you a bigger return. If it were up to me I'd keep Lexi unless they think Semien can play short or are high on Sanchez as a stop gap to Anderson.
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) His ERA is 4.17 and his WHIP is 1.32. No one is giving up a prospect of value for that, especially when "that" is still due a stupid amount of money. Gotta look deeper. He has 10 quality starts in 12 starts overall. Only 8 guys have more than 10. His ERA is inflated due to 2 really bad starts.
-
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) And I don't believe they could get as much as we'd all like them to get. Right, especially if he continues to be mediocre, hence the reason I said it won't happen. Danks has been far from mediocre this year. I'd bet someone would take him if he keeps pitching like he has been, but I wouldn't trade him, he's been too good. Lexi/Gordon/Conor and some guys in the pen are all decent trade chips.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) Trading up to get Nik Stauskas is such a Bulls thing to do. It is? I thought the Bulls never made moves to better their team? Bulls need a shooter, Staukas is that from what I've read. I know our resident Wolverine fans really like him. -

A bit of old news, but it hasn't been mentioned yet....Bulls trying to package their 2 picks to trade up and grab a shooter. Probably looking at Harris and Staukas. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) I completely disagree. 81 MLB AB's at the age of 28 is more telling than any minor league stat. Just read this article that disagrees.... http://www.athleticsnation.com/2013/8/28/4...-michael-taylor It's comparing Josh Donaldson and Taylor. Donaldson was just as bad through his first 134 ABs and now he's a budding star. Dude might just need consistent ABs.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) I have a problem with the Reed trade. He was not just a reliever, he was a closer. At this point, we have tried 4-5 relievers and have yet to find a ML quality closer. Now maybe Belisario will be that closer. If not maybe Jones. But luckily this year doesn't matter but we better find a real closer by next year. Because Reed on a lousy team has more saves than our entire bullpen. Meanwhile Davidson is over his head in AAA and is a below average fielder at 3B. daidson is still young but so is Reed. I have no problem w Peavy and Rios trades as they freed up serious payroll. Reed made literally nothing at $550,000 , they signed big buck relievers in Downs and Belisario ( 6.7Mil) and we still are not sure if we have a Reed replacement Meh, this is a team coming off a 99 loses and going into a rebuilding year, you don't really need a top notch closer when you're not expected to win. Reed was gonna be on his way to making "big bucks" so you trade him while he's still cheap. Hahn seemingly had a plan for the bullpen as well, that plan was loading up on guys who didn't give up the long ball. Reed doesn't fit that plan. He's given up 8 HRs in 29 innings, only John Danks has given up more HRs on this team with 9 in 82. The bullpen as a whole has given up 12 HRs, and that includes 2 by Frank Francisco who wasn't originally "part of the plan".

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 10:08 PM) I can't understand giving any sort of real prospect for this guy. I don't know what Sanchez is, but I assume he isn't a prospect. Scrap heap's one thing, but you trade for scrap heap players. Sanchez was a little interesting because just last year he was pitching in the independent leagues, Sox signed him and hes been successful so far. Now as he rises in the minors it's very possible he shows why he was never drafted. Taylor, while yes a little older, still probably has some potential. A's OF has been pretty crowed the last few years so he was never able to find consistent ABs.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) I think a bit more patience is required. Absolutely. Eaton had an awful May, his June so far has been meh but he still has a .352 obp, and his March and April has been fine. He hyped himself up pretty high saying he was gonna have a .400 obp, but if he simply has that .350+ obp from here on out I'll be ok with that. Avisail Garcia just turned 23 3 days ago and looks to have pretty good potential. Davidson is a top 100 prospect. He obviously hasn't worked out thus far in hindsight but to get a guy who was viewed as highly as he was for a reliever is somewhat impressive. Montas, though he was a bit shaky last night has been fantastic overall Wendelken has looked good as well. To say they got nothing is a little silly.

I don't see anything wrong with the Pods w/ D comp. -
He's been pretty solid in the minors sans this year. Never really showed anything in the majors. Maybe he's a Steverson guy. Jake Sanchez, who the Sox gave up, was an interesting prospect.
