  1. Wiggins has been a complete non factor in this game. As a guy who doesn't follow the regular season and has heard all about this draft class I've been fairly disappointed with what I've seen so far. I was expecting guys like Parker and Wiggins to dominate. You can throw Ennis in there as well though, he's not as highly touted as the other 2. I know it's very short sighted to say these guys aren't any good, and that's not what I'm saying, but still.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) If that were the case why did they specifically target Major League ready prospects. The point of taking a lesser prospect because they are closer to the majors is to shorten the rebuilding process. If they were going to cut ~$35M in payroll they should have just targeted the best prospects period. Adam Eaton was the 48th ranked prospect last year, Davidson is the 78th ranked prospect this year, and Garcia was the 74th ranked prospect in 2012 (He would have ranked higher the next year had he not "graduated'). You act as though these "lesser" prospects are all, well, "lesser prospect", when in reality they are really good prospects. What did you expect them to get in return? Yes, they shortened the rebuild process, but it's still on going, this isn't a team that's a SP a way from contending. Let these youngsters get their feet wet this year, see where they are with guys like Beck and Bassit next year and if they feel they need a SP they'll have money to do so. You can't deny that they're at the very least moving in the right direction.
  3. It was Mercer, but I gotta go with Stone Cold Stephen F. Austin now...just cuz
  4. Stone Cold Stephen F. Austin with the stunner
  5. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 20, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) @AdamSchefter So it's Jared Allen as a Seahawk, per Ed Werder, and Devin Hester as a Falcon. Quite a non-hoops afternoon. In case anyone missed it, this report is false...at least for now. Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 1h Tidbit 1 on Jared Allen: He's considering 3 places now, with walking away still an option. Should know by the weekend what his future is Seahawks are obviously one of the teams, have to wonder if the Bears are another. From what has been reported the only teams he's been in contact with have been Seattle, Dallas, Denver, and Chicago. Denver is out after the Ware signing and it was reported that it was either gonna be Melton or Allen in Dallas, not both. Seattle has to be the favorite, but I suppose he could be interested in Chicago.
  6. 4-14 for Parker, no assists. Haven't seen a full Duke game all year and that's what I get to see?? Lame...When does Creighton play?
  7. Damn, I really wanted to see more of Jordan Bachynski. I've seen 2 of his games and in both he's looked real good. I'd love him in the 2nd round of the draft.
  8. The only thing I take away from this is the irish nacho helmet....om nom nom
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 20, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Unify the ic and us title and just have whomever has the belt actually defend it. Ambrose has had US Title 9 months and has defended it a handful of times it feels. Ya, ideally we see Ambrose v Big E and Harper/Rowan v Rollins/Reigns at WM. Where did you guys hear the Kane/NAO vs Shield rumors?
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 20, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) I will believe it when I see it. I thought they were on the right track with Golddust and Cody, but when they dropped to NAO I was really disappointed. Good that the Uso's have it, but they need a awesome tag team in there that draws pop or heat Real Americans should have been that good heel team, but the fans love Cesaro too much....It's kinda hard to get heat now a days, seems like the only way to get heat is to be a boring wrestler. Wyatts should be getting heat but they're just too awesome to hate. I'm sure the Ascension will end up in that same category as a team pushed as heels who will ultimately end up being loved by most fans.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 11:46 PM) How is the Sox defense this spring? No diss on Robin, but let's say our team is horrible defensively again and full of mental errors on the basepaths again. Do you think he'd be in trouble job-wise, considering the Sox have a lot of young players? I just hope the Sox make it clear early in the season they are not going to be the patsies of the Central and are gonna show some fight. In fact, maybe a bench clearing brawl early on vs. KC or Cleveland to set the tone? I know some people on here don't like baseball fights, so I will say that in advance lest you think I'm pulling a troll. I just want some fight in our team this year and I want to see good, fundamental baseball under Robin. It's looked turrable in the 2 games I've seen. A fight would be dumb.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) So far this offseason they have added or retained DL Idonije, Trevor Scott, Nate Collins, Ratliff as well as ends Houston, Young, Lane, and still retain Paea. They may not be huge names, but there is depth there. Much better than last season. Don't get me wrong, I like what they've done, but my post was made specifically about the 3 technique.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 10:51 PM) Take, for instance, Jay Ratliff Eh, I'm not sold on him still being a good starting option at the 3-tech. Though I guess you can argue Melton coming off injury might not be one either. What are your thoughts on Pat Sims? I hear PFF likes him.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) I wouldn't have paid him $4M. We had options with similar levels of talent and uncertainty for much less than that. Good luck in Dallas, buddy Who are these options you speak of?
  15. Rapaport said it'll be a 1 year deal with an option.....Another tweet, from one of those guys, said he was only asking for 4 mill. So ya, I too will be disappointed if it is indeed just the 1/4 deal.....Esp. if they can't land Donald, or whoever they do get to play the 3T doesn't get after the QB like the Bears need em to.
  16. Henry Melton ‏@HenMel 5m Thank you chicago for the best 5 years of my life!.... I can't wait to begin the next chapter of my life... With a star on my helmet. Really hope Donald falls to us now. Though Pat Sims and Alex Carrington remain intriguing options.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 16, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Patrick Corbin has an elbow... https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/445231258302300160 Sigh, he was one of my keepers in the soxtalk league that just drafted. (I know no one cares)
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 01:09 PM) They got Peppers cheap and he won't be a full time player. I expect the Packers to be running a more hybrid defense this year. If they can all stay healthy, I think they can be pretty good, but the health is the big question mark with that team. 3/30 is cheap for a guy who won't be a full time player?
  19. It's already March and there's no music thread?? Am I missing something here? Thread have to be shut down? Anyway, I present to you the Martellus Bennett mix tape. https://soundcloud.com/martysaurusrex/1-yea...orange-dinosaur I'm not that big into rap, well at least what I hear on the radio, but I actually think this is really solid.
  20. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) No argument there. I just want to temper expectations. The guy is 28 and only got $3M guaranteed for a reason. FWIW all I ever said is he'll be above average and I'll stand by that.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Mega squad? Denver and Seattle are gonna be really, really good. Maybe calling them a "mega squad" is a little silly, but barring injuries those guys gotta be the favorites.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Well either way, that's a fine contract that we won't need to worry about. Yup, and with "Mega squads" in Denver and Seatlle this year probably won't go the Bears way anyway. Next year though, even if the give Marshall a ~10M a year deal they'll still have 45M to spend(as of now, including the signings this year). So when you start to think about 2015 things look even brighter.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Great pass rusher? He's a nice role player, but if he is your starter, you are probably trying to replace him. I think there's a bit of "Bears hate" in this comment. He'll be at the very least an above average DE.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Like Jake says, PFF likes Young a lot. I like that we're not going after guys with sexy sacks numbers, but advanced metrics instead. Yup, makes sense coming from a guy who brought up PFF and STATS inc in his opening presser. Might be worth noting that Austen Lane, who played for Mel in Jacksonville, said Mel likes to bring pressure from the LBs. So while these 2 aren't "sexy" pass rushers we could see more pressure coming from the LBs. Couple that with a penetrating 3-tech and the Bears should be fine as far as a pass rush goes. All while being a lot better at stopping the run. Again, really like the direction they're heading...At least on paper anyway.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) Entire league Fantastic. Phil's not messing around in trying to fix that putrid run defense.
