  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 06:56 PM) "All signs" like them saying they're going to make a big, "all in" jump in payroll and kicking Konerko to the curb? QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) Er, what signs? I can't find the article that I believe "Dayan" posted that talked about how they weren't "passing" on 2014, and it went along with what Bucket has said at the beginning of the offseason.
  2. All signs point to Rick wanting to compete next year. Bringing in Headley and extending him makes that even more realistic.
  3. QUOTE (mike65 @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 06:15 PM) Hey guys, I was hoping for Ramirez to the Cardinals but that is not happening. I came here in July with a hope for Ramirez and, again, this off-season. I will leave zero for two. I was listening today to XM and they had Josh Byrnes on. I don't know if he slipped but he mentioned that his office was having email problems and he hadn't been able to reach Rick Hahn. He is headed to Chicago for Thanksgiving and said he planned to just walk into his office so they could finish their business. Take it for what it is worth as a parting gift. I sure have enjoyed this board and thanks for making me feel welcome. I hope 2014 is better for the White Sox. Hmm Headley I'm assuming? Or perhaps Grandal? Enjoy your Cards sir.
  4. QUOTE (lord chas @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 05:57 PM) People are seriously overvaluing how much the Bulls can get back in potential trades Who me? Never.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) The main things that change IMO: Lu gets traded -- I think someone will want him, might get a good pick if we take a bad contract (and why not do that?) Zero question about a Boozer amnesty if he makes it to the end of the season -- but we now might try to trade The biggest one: we now market Joakim hard and get the best possible value for him, which should be first round draft pick. It just forces the restructuring process to occur a little sooner, plus dumping Jo who we otherwise would have kept for the "next core." Might be interesting to see how many picks and such that we can rack up What are some teams that might be interested in Deng? Would a Deng for Ben Gordon and next years 1st rounder make some sense? With the hope that Deng pushes them out of the top 10 and they get their 1st rounder this year and next?
  6. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 05:39 PM) His -7 uzr backs that up. This could be nothing more than dumping freeze for a 4th OF/defensive replacement. Bourjos has done nothing in his career to warrant an immediate starting spot anyway. It was just 2012 when he ranked 6th among qualified CFers with a 3.7 uzr. The year before that he also had a positive uzr. The question is, was he "lucky" the previous 2 years, or was this year just a "bad year".
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Alexei for Matt Adams. Go. This, of course, would be the more preferred trade between he and Jay.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) Why should we trade Alexei for Jay?? Jay is not good. He's not? Everyone is always harping about getting high obp guys on the team and Jay is just that. Ranked 44th last year with a .351, .363 vs RHP. Year before he ranked 17th with a .373. Everyone seems to think De Aza will be traded, and if that's the case the Sox can do A LOT worse than trading Ramirez for Jay and a prospect or 2.
  9. Interesting deal for the Cards. With Holliday in LF and Bourjos in CF, they don't have room to play Taveras if they also wanna keep Craig/Adams. Not to mention Jay, who I could see being traded to the Sox for Lexi.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) The Sox would absolutely "get thinking" on anything including Profar and additional prospects. Edited my above post....something wild like Profar, long term SS..Robbie Ross who can be the long term LH setup man... Jorge Alfaro, potential long term catcher in a year or 2...Joey Gallo, LH 3B, Adam Dunn type offensively(I believe you can win with 1 or 2 of those types in your lineup).... and Luke Jackson who looks to be, at the very least, a middle of the rotation starter. If they were rebuilding, that's a move I'd have to think about. However all signs point to them simple "re-tooling" and trading Sale in that scenario would be silly.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) Do the Rangers have any package of players that could get the Sox thinking on Chris Sale? If you really believe in their prospects, yes. It'd have to be something wild like Profar/Ross/Alfaro/Gallo/Jackson and some lower level guys. But the way Hahn has been talking, it's not gonna happen.
  12. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) http://www.southsidesox.com/2013/11/21/512...onent#198922611 Interesting, not sure if true, but very interesting. It could hold some truth since I'm still a little surprised the Tigers traded Garcia, who would have had a spot on that team (Hunter won't play forever, LF could be viewed as a hole there, and he was Miggy's "protege").
  13. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Did you guys read the stuff about Prince Fielder's wife and Avisail Garcia? Hilarious.... Link it up.
  14. QUOTE (staxx @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) still can't decide on matt ryan, Carson Palmer or Scott Tolzien i hate bye weeks. I have no clue how to judge Matt Ryan at this point so I'm in the same predicament, as seen by my edit of your post.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) Now that Texas has cleared it's middle infield glut, Ramirez to Cardinals might be more of a possibility. Also potentially takes Scherzer of the trading block making our starters look more attractive.
  16. Fair enough, Deng always puts up those quiet numbers to where I haven't exactly noticed how well he's been doing.
  17. I really like the Rose-Hinrich backcourt, which they should be using with Butler out, so it's no biggy to me. If that starting backcourt continues to thrive I'd hope to see Deng moved at some point to move Jimmy to the SF position.
  18. Seriously, Ike Davis as the main piece for Ryan Braun? I too am calling BS.
  19. Got Foles on a bye...Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, or perhaps even Scott Tolzien who has a favorable matchup against Minnesota who's giving up the 2nd most fantasy points to QBs.
  20. Mike, can you touch on James Ramsey? He's a name we haven't brought up here, know anything about his D in CF, can he stick there? The scouting report I'm reading says he's a legit basestealing threat, but he only had 9 steals. Is he a potential leadoff hitter?
  21. Jake- Not sure if you were aware but I believe your name was mentioned on Waddle and Silvy today.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 01:00 AM) Welp, I won by .4 points to retain my first place spot in my better league
  23. You've gotta be bleepin me...In my same tough luck league where I lost 3 games by some ridiculously low margin I thought my fortunes were gonna turn. Had a .52 lead going into the final play today, and of course he (Jake) has Carolina's D and I lose by .48. Not gonna look back at the previous close loses, but the last 2 weeks alone I've lost by a combined 1.72 points.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) We went the "trap and remove" route. I dont know what an exterminator would cost Did you have babies though? I've read a "stat" that 80% of the time there is babies involved. If you trap the female the babies will die and stink up the house.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) Yep. either trap and release far far far away, or get an exterminator. They will come back. And, you better find their point of entry and block it up good Any idea what the costs of an exterminator would be? If that's the route you went. Pretty sure there's babies up there as well. There's a hole in the roof..It's an "unfinished" attic meaning its just beams up there to walk on, I don't trust myself to get up there and not end up f***ing the ceiling
