QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) Need some good recommendations for leg strengthening exercises. I've got limited weights/equipment. I'm gonna start doing these.... http://www.livestrong.com/article/413939-t...-leg-exercises/ minus the stair running...for now...I think I'll throw in some wall squats as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 08:31 AM) Gotta like when this happens right when people were complaining about Nate again. Ya, I made a point to focus on it after the comments made a few days ago. May have just been this game but my goodness, Thibs made it pretty easy to follow too. Kirk ran the whole 1st Q and most of the 3rd, they managed 33 points in those 2 quarters. While Nate was running the point they scored 52 points. Kirks little spin move with no one on him kinda annoyed me too for whatever reason. But hey a W is a W and we are now 1 game out of the 2 spot.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 01:13 AM) the sodium content is crazy high even if the calories are low. and ranch is... well... ranch. but dude, i'm happy you're deciding to take this seriously. combined with the success you've had quitting smoking, you're getting a killer start on overhauling your health. good stuff Not sure if I clarified but it's ranch popcorn seasoning, which may be in the same boat with the hot sauce as far as sodium goes. I've never really looked at sodium, but then again that should be apparent lol...But ya thanks man, I've made it a point to make age 25 the year. I spent many a years wasting away, not caring what I ate, and smoking a half a pack a day now it's time to turn the page. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 01:16 AM) you've got body weight baby! do some internet research on workouts you can do with just body weight. also, check this out: Starting Strength program by Mark Rippetoe - all about barbell work. Will do boss.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:35 AM) Do you have access to a gym or you just working out at home? But don't shy away from your legs, you'll be amazed at how much quicker you'll drop lbs by working your legs. I'm surprised the whole board doesn't know me as a bum by now...naw I'm jobless working out at home, I've got a bar, resistance bands, and a swiss balls....all I can think of with that is a plethora of squats.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 09:46 PM) and not dousing everything in sauce. but yes. this. ^ What's wrong with hot sauce? I thought hot foods kicked up your metabolism, or is that a myth? My legs sure do burn after getting off the treadmill so I've kinda shied away from leg work...But what else other than squats can I do with what I have for legs...and when should I do them?

The flow of the game when was just horrendous when Kirk was out there running the point. Great comeback orchestrated by Nate.

Alright so as you know I'm not the most advanced guy in the workout department (despite working for beachbody lol) but I think I've whipped together a pretty good routine. I do 8 movements 4 pulling and 4 pushing, split into pairs of 2 that I do as a "circuit". 4 sets 10 each(except the bench). Bench with descending reps- 8/7/6/5... Not quite at 4 sets of 8 yet, I struggle with the last rep on each set. Straight arm lat pulldown - I have a resistance band that I have hanging from the ceiling that I do for the rest. Chest fly Standing Row Curl- making sure to emphasize turning my hand and squeezing at the top. standing skull crushers- making sure I go back all the way. Pushups the reverse grip p90x resistance band pullup replacement... basically a kneeling reverse grip row. I've done this twice this week (today and monday) and plan on going at it again friday...And tuesday/thursday/saturday I'll be doing 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I slowly wanna work in the cardio everyday and add in a core swiss ball exercise as well. Should I do those on weight days or before/after cardio days. How's that all sound? Also the diet...not that great but as good as it'll get at this point...Wake up around 10...Breakfast has been a 2 scrambled egg sandwich on whole grain toast smothered in hot sauce and a cup of coffee with less sugar than usual, some cinnamon, and a splash of 1% milk. I'll workout 2 hours later and have another 2 scrambled eggs, a scoop of peanut butter, and half a cup of dry cinnamon toast crunch(love it, its whole grain, it has cinnamon which i hear is good for you metabolism, and I also hear a little sugar post workout ain't bad) If i get hungry before dinner at 4 I'll have air popped popcorn, with a little ranch seasoning and doused in hot sauce. Dinner is as good as it will get right now with me not working.me mum insists on "celebrating prince spaghetti day" which is apparently every wednesday, taco tuesdays (I've convinced her to make chicken tacos) and every friday we have some kind of pasta with tuna(convinced her to throw in some brocolli). Mondays and thursdays are usually something cheap like soup, frozen pizzas, chicken kievs and canned veggies or something like that. Saturdays is always some kind of chicken, used to be fried chicken and mashed potatoes but I've been baking mine, having very little mashed potatoes and gravy(I can't resist my moms homemade gravy), and I convinced her to make some steamed veggies. Sundays are usually some slow cooked meat with potato and carrots. If i get hungry between 4-8 I will once again have popcorn...luckily my brother works at Orville Redenbacker and hooks it up with 8 pound jugs of kernels. My mom loves desserts, we'll have them a few times a week. I've convinced her to start getting angel food cake and fruits which I'll have unsweetened. And despite not going to bed until 2 I won't eat passed 8...if I do it'll be a handful of cinnamon toast crunch.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 05:59 PM) I love me some Dennis Pitta. Highly doubt he hits the market but if he does I'd love to have him...Jared Cook might come at a reasonable price. Hopefully they act quick to sign Melton and a LT so they see how much money they're working with that after that. If a TE is in the budget? go for it. If not? Hit up the draft or give Rodriquez his shot. -

Jared Cook, Brandon Meyers, Dustin Keller, Martellus Bennet, and Dennis Pitta are the top tier guys...Anthony Fasano, Ben Watson, Dallas Clark are the older, still interesting guys.....Evan Rodriguez is the guy that deserves a chance to be utilized in some fashion. -

El Generico signed with the WWE...LIKE...I hope they don't change his gimmick, or at least leave him masked. A pasty, thin, Canadian would struggle to get over, but a generic luchador?? gold!....For those that don't follow indy wrestling here's a taste.... Probably more than half these move will be "too dangerous" but you get the idea. -
As i stated earlier they are in between 2 15lb weights on both sides of the bar. The wobble I spoke of is back and forth not side to side so they aren't going to swing into my arm.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) Cinder blocks are still incredibly dangerous. I'm not saying you're wrong, but how so?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) Hmm. Can you do various push ups, pull ups, etc. while you save up for some proper weights from Craigslist or eBay? Fashioning weights from various items can get you hurt. I can and have been doing pushups, no pull ups but I'm doing the p90x pull up replacement move with resistance bands.... I haven't read anything against using cinder blocks as weight as long as they're secure... http://www.muscleandfitness.com/training/t...s-cinder-blocks Once I start workin or tax return I'll be buying me some legit weights.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 05:37 PM) Are you prison? nope I'm a broke sob who ran outta weights. I was just curious as it seemed more difficult but then again I haven't benched since before the holidays (actually have been focusing on cardio and doing some core exercises with a swiss ball). The blocks are in between 2 weights, they may swing a little but they're not gonna go anywhere
-
Time to sound silly...Benching with cinder blocks on the bar...does it add anything more than the 35 pounds they weigh? Not sure if the fact that they hang and wobble a little does anything.

Trevor's a former highly touted pitching prospect out of the Angels organization who's struggled lately. Drafted in the 8th round of the 2007 draft. By age 20('09) he was already in AA, where he made the All-Star team, the Futures Game, played for team USA and was named Angels Pitcher of the Year. Playing for team USA he went 2-0 with a .69 era and tied the 3 decade old record of 11 Ks in a game. After his 09 season he was ranked the 4th best prospect in the Halos organization by Kevin Goldstien, behind Mike Trout, Hank Conger, and Jordan Walden. Goldstien noted he could make the rotation as early as 2011 as a 3rd starter. From Kevin Goldstien at Baseball Prospectus I see trade rumors where he was going to be the key piece in a Roy Halladay trade. 2010 started his downfall. Between stops at AA and AAA(which he may have been rushed to) he posted a 6.42 era with a 1.73 whip..Ouch... He rebounded somewhat in 2011 with a 3.73 era and a 1.4 whip in 17 starts at AA. Baseball Reference says he started at A+ in 2012 and had terrible control issues, walking 15 in 6 innings...I found this on an Angels fansite about his 2012 performance I've been following him on twitter ( @TrevorReckling ) and he seems like a great kid, still on 23, and I'm really rooting for a rebound. The top pitching prospect in the MLB seems to think he can do it.... He's a high school teammate of our very own Hector Santiago and they have been working out together this offseason..... He also seems to have/support a line of clothing that includes this pretty rad Santiago shirt... Perhaps working with Coop and his old high school teammate can get him back to his former self. Hard to project where he's gonna start this year at but AA seems like a good bet.....He'll be a very interesting prospect to watch. If he rebounds we could be looking at yet another potential SP piece for the future.

Dig it. Barring the Verducci effect the pitching staff as a whole should be dynamite.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2013 -> 07:28 PM) He had a really good game against Jared Allen the last game against the Vikings. In fact, Allen has struggled against him a lot...Allen only had one really good game against Webb (2nd game of last year). And especially considering he never, ever, ever gets help, holding his own against him is pretty good. The guy who beats the crap out of him is Matthews. But again, he never got help against him. Ya, Jared Allen didn't sack Cutler at all this season. While only having 1 stuff, which I assume is ESPNs new word for TFL. Clay Matthews just wrecks us every time. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 19, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/sports/f...ld-be-a-/nT2Z5/ If Long leaves as a free agent, he has to be priority No.1 for the Bears right? I know he regressed a little this year, but he is 27 years old and a legit above-average, if not, top 5 left tackle. I would pay top dollar for him because of the dire need we have there. Not only would we have a legit LT, but also you could live with a lesser LG because of it. Figure Lance Louis comes back as one of the guards. And you draft one in the top two rounds. Then pray that Webb can be a decent RT. Regardless, I think an impact FA like Long would go a long way toward turning this team around. I'd give Carimi one more shot at RT, supposedly he was hurt last year. Long would certainly be nice, I'm liking the idea of Bushrod though. He'll come cheaper and with the Saints OL coach coming over he'll be in the same blocking scheme where he's succeeded in the past. If my earlier cap numbers were anywhere close to being right I think you should be able to get both Melton and Bushrod. -
Sooo if Deng misses time who's the 2nd SF? Rip is listed as 6'7" so does he move over temporarily? Vlad Rad can supposedly play SF will we see a little bit of him? The 6'6" Cook?
