  1. i say we (the US) should let them duke it out and let the chips fall where they may. keep kicking ass, israel! a rational thought from the UN?? wow! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,205352,00.html
  2. i dont see how making feeding the homeless in parks helps the city, its residents, or the homeless.
  3. the IDF is poised to invade southern lebanon: http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/07/21/D8J0FQJ8N.html hizbollah is about to feel some real pain. hopefully its similar to the pain of the israelis affected from hizbollah's targeting of civilian populations (thats textbook terrorism, coincidentally). go on israel, my son!
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Israel has no sense of proportion. It's completely nuts. And shame on Bush for his whole handling of this. again, do you have a better solution? what should we be doing? what should israel be doing instead? i'll pre-empt your suggestion that we bring in jimmy carter for more peace talks. for god's sake, they dont work, so please dont suggest that. please see my post above about the arab countries involved in this conflict getting what they deserve and the reasons for it. in a nutshell, they shouldnt have dished it out to israel if they cant take it from israel.
  5. how about representing your constituency? whats wrong with that? lieberman deserves credit for being independant. his constituents elected joe lieberman, not the a puppet of howard dean and nancy pelosi. if they vote him out, only then can you call him off-base. in conclusion, serving your constituency should always trump being a tool to the party line. its called freedom and democracy.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) I'm just amazed that anyone can actually think the possibility of a wide war in the middle east involving virtually every country out there can be a good thing. as has been evidenced by more instances than i can count, islamic terrorists will not negotiate- they just wont. we've been trying to negotiate with terrorists for longer than i have been alive, and it has never worked, all it has done is prolong or temporarily downgrade their attacks. so if you have a better solution for israel, im all ears. my guess is that you dont.
  7. up until this year, if i am not incorrect, the israeli red cross chapter was not recognized by the international red cross org. and yes, nuke, they are big fat giant f***ing hypocrits.
  8. i know im not the only one who is whole-heartedly cheering the IDF in this fight. i cant wait until they take on iran. the iranian gov't is completely out of control, and needs to be toppled- no less. i have difficulty believing that iran has weapons grade nuclear material- theres a huge difference between a power plant and a nuclear missile, and we have yet to see even a remote inference from iran that they have that capability. hopefully, i will persistantly be monitoring youtube.com for videos of IDF tanks obliterating pre-1990 soviet tanks with iranian flags on them in the future. every arab nation that wont recognize the state of israel (which is a legal state) and has either (1) let terrorist organizations thrive and in some cases control territories in their country in close proximity to israel [example: Lebanon] or (2) have funded or supported those organizations [ex: basically every arab country] deserve what the IDF is dishing out. if i can pat a terrorist on the back for the first time in my life, it would be for this: thank you, hizbollah, for bringing about your own destruction. the world will be much better off without you. with any luck, you'll be seeing syria and iran soon, and you all can enjoy your 1000 virgins togethor and sing kumbayah. but that's just me.
  9. from what ive seen in this thread, and considering that there is a conservative court, my guess is the leaking will be found to be in the VP's executive capacity or something like that (rationalized as speaking to the press in an official capacity), and he'll be immune from this suit. to me, its a little different than an act completely outside the scope of your employment, like banging trailor trash a.k.a. paula jones (p.s. dissappointing penthouse photo shoot, paula; very dissappointing). thats my take, for what it's worth.
  10. oh, come on, its the man's funeral. what did you expect the preist to do, slam key lay at his own funeral? i do find the comments of the guy funny though.
  11. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Hmm... the President enjoys immunity from civil suits while serving as president pursuant to Jones v. Clinton and a host of other well established cases. I wonder if the vice-president enjoys the same privilege. i didnt know that, interesting. my guess would be that if the prez has it, so will the VP, but i dont have the motivation to check.
  12. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Too bad a lot of people in Iran aren't "islamofascists". by "a lot of people" are you referring to the iranian government, which funds hezbollah, who are terrorists, or are you just referring to the hezbollah installments the israelis are attacking right now to get back kidnapped soldiers? and how is hezbollah not a terrorist organization?
  13. it will be interesting to see what technicality this suit will be dismissed on.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) If these guys get moved to Iran. Then Iran and Israel will be at war. israel kicking terrorist islamic fundamentalist ass = OK by me!
  15. new jersey is the armpit of new york.
  16. i almost wish the communist had won...then we would perhaps have done more on the border than we are now
  17. we should assassinate kim il dong edit: no, i didnt misspell
  18. im not trying to throw stones, because republicans in d.c. do it sometimes too (but not even as close to as much as democrats- just my opinion), but all of the ideas you are listing are a bunch of feel good issues. who is going to disagree that we need a comprehensive immigration plan? even phil donahue and pat buchanon and probably david duke would agree with that. the point is that there are no details- exactly how do democrats propose this plan work? what requirements/quotas/whatever?? this is a big reason why kerry lost. dems need to stop sitting around and throwing buzzwords out. you cant just say that you support balancing the budget, period and that health care should be affordable, period. try saying HOW it will be done. sadly, i am pretty confident I can answer the how for nearly every single "idea"- raise taxes and make government even bigger. thats just what we need, good god. that isnt working, as the MI economy is proving (the only reason I say that is I live in MI).
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Do you really think that we went to war with Iraq because of WMD's, or 9/11 ties? I'm pretty sure the majority of people on both sides of the aisle in this forum would agree that those were diversionary marketing schemes for the real purposes of the war. Iraq = anchorhead It was a regional influence and power play, above anything else. im just trying to say that people who keep insisting that saddam did not support terrorism directed towards the US are going to find it harder and harder to defend that position if more circumstantial evidence keeps coming out like this. little inferences add up.
  20. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,202277,00.html i must say, this is another strange coincidence. first, its revealed that there were WMDs in iraq. lib's response? "well, yes, there were WMDs, but not the kind that we should have gone to war over" and now this: "Fox News and Robison last week revealed the contents of a 1999 notebook kept by an Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) operative. That notebook detailed how Saddam's agents aggressively pursued and entered into a diplomatic, intelligence, and security arrangement with the Taliban and Islamist extremists operating in Afghanistan — years before the 9/11 attacks. While the training manual revealed today by Fox News does not mention the IIS agent's notebook, the manual does suggest an Arab regime, most likely Saddam, may have provided the military help requested by the Taliban and Al Qaeda. The manual, declassified and recently released by the Foreign Military Studies Office, advises its Arab readers never to show your "military ID." That strongly suggests that Iraq was sending professional military assistance to Afghanistan before the 9/11 attacks" again, not entirely conclusive, as with the WMD article i posted on here a few weeks ago (i think it was a few weeks ago), but the manual was taken from the IIS. it is pretty clear to me that saddam WAS aiding terrorists prior to 9/11. i think the time is soon approaching that a totality of the circumstances will make many critics have to reconsider their position on saddam hussien. then they can eat some crow and like it too.
  21. that dude has built a career on lies, both about himself and others. enjoy the rest of your disgraceful life, ward!
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) As a proponent of the War, I appreciate this news very much. I will say, though, that with or without this article I'd still be as serious a supporter of the War as I am now. I don't feel particularly validated by this article, and I don't think that this is cause for critics to "eat crow." It has to be said that they DO have a point -- War critics, that is -- when they say that THIS isn't what we went to War over -- or that, at least, this isn't what Bush sold the War on. However, this: Is a good part of why I believed going in was right, and still do. Good news, good news. i like what you are saying. i probably see it as a little more vindicating than you do, but right on.
  23. we need to topple that bastard, if not just for the sake of the people living in that country.
  24. all business owners, from the smallest to the largest, will generally oppose an increase in the minimum wage, from every aspect of the economy. thats so much lobbying power...i dont think the minimum wage will ever be changed enough to be considered fair to the average person.
