QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I just checked in to see Danks is making a run at it. Is this guy the real ace of the staff? I would say so. Another great KW move.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) From sonsofsamhorn: and...how many wins do they have again? wow. haha. IMO the Red Sox are better than the White Sox.

QUOTE (sox1844 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Me too. I'm OK with Uribe at 3rd, but Linebrink is a huge loss. I wish we would have gave Fields more of a shot.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=keri/080805 Good article, gives some really good examples. A couple of more that come to mind for me are Kirk Gibson in 1988 and Eckersley in 1992.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) That 3-2 pitch by Danks to Lowell got a "Holy s***" from me. Fathom, do you like AJ in the 2 spot?

.257/.322/.439 10 HR 45 RBI-Josh Hamilton's stats away from Texas. He's pretty average when you take him out of the best hitters park in the AL.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 02:19 AM) So, Ramirez is Logan's replacement. Getz for Fields I would assume as well. Who will be called up for Jose? Broadway? Dunno, but I think Carrasco's the best option to start at this point.
-
I really like this move, Ramirez has been really good out of the pen this year and we didn't give up much. As for Fields, I know he looked awful, but I still think he deserved more of a shot than he got.

NFL releases new code of conduct for fans

I've been to one Bears game in my life, in 2003. There is some pretty unruly behavior there, a lot worse than a Sox game. Before the game even started, I saw a guy leaned over a pole with puke everywhere. I saw one fight, and another shouting match between a couple of guys. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) in his defense he went to the mound before the AB and i doubt he told javy to throw him a cookie How fun is it going to be watching Contreras on Saturday?
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) Awful execution, awful starting pitcher. OC has a 2-0 count and grounds out to SS moving Uribe to 3rd and DJ says "Nice job, Orlando." In that situation, try and hit a liner to the outfield. I'm not looking to manufacture runs with our mental midget on the mound. Garland would look good in the #5 spot.

Swisher actually got a hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) Well, here's your question. Do you want a guy in that slot hitting .229 or .247? The #2 slot is one where I actually care about batting average, because I want the guy putting the ball in play and being able to move runners along before God and JD come up. Griffey I could tolerate, maybe, because his BA is a little higher than Swisher's. I just don't like a guy hitting .230 coming up before the deity. I would prefer Griffey, because I think he will hit better than .247 with us, and I just don't like the fact that two of our lowest OBP guys are hitting 1-2. Having Griff there would also give OC a better chance to steal bases.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) He's hitting .294 in August. He had a bit of a down July, but he's hitting .291 out of that slot. You could argue that Alexei would be sexier there because Alexei is just that good, but AJ has been fairly solid and consistent out of that hole. But he's a free swinger and his OBP is never good. Not to mention he is one of the slowest players on the team. Why not have Swisher or Griffey there?

We need to get AJ out of the 2 spot.

NFL releases new code of conduct for fans

This is just a bunch of PR bulls***. If these rules were enforced (which they can't be), every single stadium would be half empty. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Sean Gallagher to the DL with possibly a blown out shoulder. I still can't believe the A's couldn't get a better package than what they got from the Cubs.
-
That was f***in crazy!!!!!!! Best win of the year. I was pissed as f*** that Cora left Thornton out there for a 4th inning.
-
I really wish Davey Johnson would get another shot, he's won everywhere he's been. He's managing the olympic team now, but hopefully he gets a shot in the future.

Joba Chamberlain just left the Yankees-Rangers game with some sort of injury. You never wish injury on a guy, but this could be good news for the Sox since they could end up fighting for the wild card. Chamberlain broke the over 30 inning rule last year, so he was at risk for injury this year. (For those who don't know what I'm talking about read this article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...YAE/index.html).

What the hell happened to our pitching/defense?

How would Jon Garland look right now? -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Crede isn't playing again today, and Contreras was clocked at 90 mph in the first inning. Yea Hawk said he had a setback.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) There was nothing wrong with them tossing Carrasco. Agreed
