QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Actually this is one in a series of tests of the Aegis cruiser based system and a viable theater missile defense is very significant in the grand scheme of things. c'mon nuke, it's not like there's a ranking democrat that's actually supported this idea....

Kiwanis isn't religiously affiliated. you're presupposing that every private "community" entity would be of religious nature.

Every American Should Be Pissed
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) It's not making light of people dying. :headshake It's a joke about how Bush responded to John Kerry's claim that there wasn't a large coalition at the beginning of the war. Bush just said "you forgot Poland," and then just stood there for a couple of seconds. Pull your head out of your ass, and get off your f***ing high horse. And I was simply stating that your "joke" must seem hilarious to the families of dead Polish Soldiers. put the glass of kool-aid down now and think for yourself.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Where have I personally attacked a board member? How many people are getting into heaven anyway? 144K is a number some of the most rabid UberChristians bandy about, but maybe your ceiling is somewhat higher. that's right, you hide behind a veil of quasi-I'm attacking the group not the individual BS.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) I used to work in a grocery store that was on the edge of a rough neighborhood (the one I grew up in - wasn't rough at that time, but when I was between the ages of 12-16 it got ROUGH). I couldn't even tell you the numbers of times I had people come in to cash welfare checks (prior to LINK) or use food stamps that had tons of gold, name brand clothes, cell phones and/or bought lots of lottery tickets. working at banks near economically poor areas is very sad. To see parents spend their money on junk and watch them walk away with ratty clothing or neglecting their kids future and health is part of my frustration on this subject.

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
when I was first born my parents were on food stamps for a little while, and I think that helped them out for a temporary status, but story after story they have of people from their "community" sending annonymous donnations or cooking food for them. "daily bread" sounds like just that, every day the government replaces dependence on God...

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
"I don't think it is good social policy to ask people to head down to the local Mosque for their daily bread." I don't think its good social policy for the people to get their daily bread from the government...

Every American Should Be Pissed
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Could it be they didn't join in our attack because their intelligence agencies were telling them there were no WMD and our data was faulty? Would it be our responsibility to fight any war that they wanted to engage in? If the tables were reversed and France, Germany, or Russia came to the UN and said, hey let's destroy Country 323BZY, we have evidence they are a threat and need to be stopped. Do we say Yep, let's go get them, if we didn't believe they were a threat? How many billions of dollars and thousands of lives do we spend "rescuing millions of people from the death grip of a mad man"? More bodies are piling up in the Sudan. Do we bankrupt our Social Security system to pay for rebuilding Iraq? Do we not rebuild our schools and instead build schools in Iraq? Do we stop research on Cancer, Aids, Parkinson's, to build police stations in Iraq and train their officers? How far do we harm America to help Iraq? If rescuing people was such a big deal than why the hell aren't we in Sudan? Why aren't we taking out China and saving billions of people? How about the billions of dollars we spent on rebuilding Japan and Germany after WW II? You're presupposing that those things aren't happening domestically, and Social Security will be bankrupted because of the number of baby boomers vs. the lack of # of workers paying in to the system. we don't have the resources to do everything at one time. the threat of terrorism centers on the middle east. I'll admit the $ has a lot to do with things. so your answer would be to stop all funding to foreign countries and focus inwardly?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) OK, I'm an ass, and I'll continue to leave the personal attacks to you. k? Yes, you're right, Bush didn't say "Mission Accomplished" on the deck of the Lincoln and I mis-spoke (or, rather mis-typed). And anyway, since Ari Fleischer soooo convincingly told us all that the banner only referred to the end of the Lincoln's deployment and had nothing to do With Fighter Pilot Bush’s farce of a day on that carrier. As far as making fun of Poland… I was making fun of GWB. I won’t comment on your not being able to tell the difference because as I said, the personal attacks are your gig. pot meet kettle. don't act like you're so above "personal attacks". Using Poland as the crux of your joke about GWB is what I think is pathetic. But of course I can't expect you to admit you're wrong...hell is baking nicely at 4000 degrees.

I was just commenting on the inappropriate pictures that made light of what some elitists on this board deem a "inferior" country, who gave up some of their sons lives in the line of duty. as for the MIA/POW "satire" more inappropriate behavior.

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
I'm sorry, but you just don't understand the new testament church. "the church" as we have come to know the vatican, etc is the evil step-sister whore that it was never intended to be. That's the point of this new spin on this thread. The early church didn't exist inside of building, it was in people's homes. It was community, not three points on a sermon sheet and a prayer. donations didn't go in some collection plate that ended up in some vault that was counted and recounted by corrupt bishops.

so....you're still an ass for making fun of poland? k...thought so. "Bush famously uttered "Mission Accomplished"" he never said that. I have no doubt in my mind why countries like germany, russia, and france didn't attack iraq----------> $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ don't act as if the "coalition of the UNwilling" were so altruistic in their reasons for NOT rescuing millions of people from the death grip of a mad man.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) The "American Church" is disgusting. Pathetic. Moronic. Misses the whole point. "Religion" and "Church" is so bastardized. That's one of the best things about where I go to worship. The preacher stand up there and says I messed up BAD, but this is the one place where you should be able to come and be who you are with NO criticism whatsoever. And he's the first preacher who I can honestly tell that he means it. He holds up the bible and says we need to live that life and screw what the "churches" think. Pretty innovative for today's "church". Coincidentially, it's in one of the most affluent areas in the United States. I think that way too often, we totally miss the boat because of our silver spoons in the United States. Would we have the beliefs we do if our lives were on the line like first Century Christians? Probably not. Interesting topic, as long as it holds ... good call, Soxy. two sleepy eyed thumbs up. your church and my church in texas need to go out on a date sometime.... they'd like each other

Pope: Gay marriage is 'evil'?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) After you get a good nights sleep, think about this statement: There is no "American Church". Nor should there be. Is there room on this planet for a society where every lawful belief system is allowed? And along a parallel line, is there room on this planet for a mono-belief country? The American Church is the evangelical church in the United states. Some people know what that means, others not. my bad. I don't mean that as a proper name, but I mean that in the post-modern state. My church in the US practices a different form of christianity than a fledgling church in a developing country. I mean that in a somewhat condemning way towards "our" church...the extremely wealthy church of the united states which chisoxygirl was describing most bitingly.
