  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) As I'm fairly fond of pointing out...Mitt Romney is also the only potential frontrunner for the Repub. nomination who hasn't cheated on his wife. Gingrich, McCain, Giuliani, etc. which of course makes them front runners for the Dem nod. ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) it makes stuff look really cool. Bling aside... does gold corrode slower or something?

  8. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Depends on your industry. If you work in manufacturing/production, this will be very difficult. agreed, but the problem is that 1) The US has largely switched over to Service Providing 2) US companies are still doing HR as if we their company was still a manufacturing/production company. These policies work incredibly well in service industries.
  9. OH MAN...since reading all this space related stuff... Remember "Space Camp" the movie?
  10. question from the non-science major in PA, why do they use gold plated stuff in space?
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Louisiana and NO were already possibly the most corrupt, poorly run state and city in the country anyway. This just pushed them over the edge. and according to their election rules, Rex wouldn't be the winner of our little soxtalk election.
  12. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) My mother-in-law works at the University of Iowa and she has an Amazing boss. He had some personal issues with his family a while back (I think someone got very sick) and since then he has told her that family comes first. Basically, as long as she does her work, she can leave early or take a day off for family reasons. This stratagy builds loyalty. and in fields like banking, for instance, where customers constantly complain about employee turnover, employee retention because of loyalty, leads to customer retention for the very same reasons. Happy employees = happy customers = happy revenue = happy bosses = happy employees = (repeat)
  13. QUOTE(Thedeepsea @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) I think more business should focus on the needs of the employees. People will work better if they are given more perks or days off. That's an interesting thought...next annual review ask for 2-3 more days off rather than a pay raise. someone making 35k a year and 3% raise would earn 1050 the next year. That's nice but if they only get 2 weeks vacation, certainly adding 2-3 day (which equates to ~135 a day, or 405 for the sum of the days off) I'd do it in a heart beat.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 05:01 AM) I saw "Clobber Line" and immediately thought about "Clubber Lane". no, this would be commercials that only a select group of Texans would understand.... With Ray Childress (I think that's his name...former NFL player from the oilers I think) for Lawrence Marshall Auto Sales... which, of course, I don't care about...
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:39 AM) Whatever happened to Cherry and Bub? and where did good late Saturday night sketch comedy go? oh snap...cherry and bub!

  18. Best Quotes of Season Six Episode 1 "Dr Briggs why are you crying? 19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) You had the conservative vote about locked up. I don't know about that. I think you had the AARP vote locked up
  20. I agree with all of those thoughts. I think the people that voted for me hate all of you and by default HAD to vote for me
  21. I don't care about the "Clobber Line" and whether Ford's really ARE cheaper in Hempstead.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) I guess it depends on how seriously someone takes the actual voting versus debating the issues. To me, the actual counting of the votes was secondary to the debates and reading the well thought out positions. You seemed to put more importance on electioneering. Which is an excellent commentary on why we get the people elected we do. To me receiving a PM from someone I don't normally receive PMs from and asking them to look at a thread and vote is spamming. It is at least close enough for me to not want to do it. who knew this great conversation would arise from all of this? I hope Greg understands, at least from my perspective, I don't think PMing people is a bad idea...I almost did it. So in a lot of ways I think it was innovative, much like when I made the first sig or started the ask PA thread. I think the debatable issue is how far is it ok to intrude on people's lives? what exactly designates intrusion? discuss.
  23. I have to be honest, I don't care about if I gas Miss PA out of bed when we're married...I
