  1. This is a good AB for Anderson. Way to run the count up.
  2. I am always a little shocked when someone posts a link to albums full of pictures of the family and particularly kids. It just isn't something I would do. I am curious, why did you take a picture of the sign for the womens can?
  3. When BA makes an out at the plate, he screws up his own head. When Mackowiak blows a cut-off or a catch, an inning goes on for the pitcher. It screws with his (the Pitcher's) head. And for as good as our pitchers are, save Contreras, none of them shake off mistakes like that very well. Garland, Garcia and Buehrle get rattled by unearned earned runs, if you know what I mean. These plays that should be made, need to be made. These three starters even seem to get stronger after a big defensive play saves them from one of their own mistakes. BAs defense adds more than his lack of offense subracts. He needs to be in the line-up. Crazy idea. Move him up in the line up. Put him after Dye or even at #2 for a game or two. Let him see some pitches. Right now he get crap but he chases it. If you put him in a position where they have to pitch to him, he might get his stroke back. I know #2 is not going to happen but splitting him a Uribe up might be a good idea.
  4. I hope this kid seals up the hole in the BP so we can fix SS or CF with the pending deal.
  5. It said it looked like he will be sent down. I don't t hink they have. I am on record that it would be a mistake to send him down. We need his D and should hope his bat comes around.
  6. Time to move Garland to the pen and bring McCarthy in as the starter.
  7. Sean Tracey.... looking on the bright side.
  8. I do NOT like this umps strick call mechanics. Who the hell is he, Madonna? Stike a pose, vogue.
  9. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) That was what you call a very weird double play, to say the least. Let's make that hurt. Badly.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) BTW Dixie, Crede didn't injure himself on a particular play. Perhaps on his swing in his first AB? He stayed on the bench after the Sox batted. Thanks, doesn't sound too serious.
  11. Damn, does Uribe in Crede's slot in the line up look like a huge hole on the upcomming line up. A.) I hope we get to him. B.) I hope the birth of his kid is inspirational. C.) How do we work Pablo into this game?
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) He dove into Roger Bossard's tractor. What?!?!
  13. What is the deal with Joe Crede? How bad did it look? CBS says back injury.
  14. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) All righty then. Bring it on. If an investigation could be completed without critical elements of the program, such as the fact that Qwest has refused to provide the data, being exposed to the terrorists, then I have no problem with it either but only handful of officials knew this was taking place and yet it still ended up in the NYT. Qwest is now probably the service provider of choice for all terrorists. If you want to shut it down, yeah, investiagte. Then when it comes back that the program is legal then what? It will no doubt be completely useless. Leaders in Congress were briefed about this program every step of the way. The adversarial check and balance was fulfilled. In a time of war, the POTUS is afforded more latitude in war powers and intelligence. This is a very clearly defined and legal operation of war that would fall under that authority. If Hitler was making call into Los Alamos in 1943, you would want to know who he was talking to, I would imagine. The rights of the masses sometimes (albeit rarely) trump those of the individual. In times of war, your right to know every detail of the government activity is trumped by the rights of the individuals who fly on planes and work above the 40th floor of the Sears Tower. Sorry.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:42 AM) If it doesn't include those, then what about the calls DB that the phone companies turned over? The one with ALL the calls placed? That was what I was referring to in this case. I think maybe you were talking more about the warrantless tapping, which I also happen to disagree with. Having (or having access to) the data doesn't mean anything. All it is is a huge unintelligible pile of data. Searching the data so that it becomes useful is being done only when foreign hostiles are identified through one measure or another. Another interesting point is that, although I am not a telecom expert, I think much of this traffic, certainly all of the cell calls, are made using radio waves of some type. The FCC may have some legal right to this information since it is public domain.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) No, I don't Capiche, and I think you are incorrect (or I misunderstand you again). Perhaps we are not talking about the same database. The discrimination I mentioned was the legal delineation - citizens versus non-citizens. And the database I am referring to is the one the government collected from the phone companies as a pool of data. In any case, it is pretty clearly in need of a warrant to me. If a court looked at this, in my opinion, the action would be stuck down as illegal. Your example of the traffic camera is PLAIN SIGHT criminal law enforcement, which is specifically allowed by court rulings. Knowing who calls who, citizen to citizen, in the U.S., is not plain sight. The Bush has stated time and time again that the program does not include internal domestic communications. The POTUS has long held the athourity to conduct warrantless searches, despite FISA. Some former Presidents took it even further.
  17. Dustin Hermanson is still listed on the disabled list. He is still officially on the 40-man roster. Has anyone heard any news recently on his progress? Should he just be counted out totally or does he just go to the same doctors that Mark Prior does? If he gets back at all, will he be worth a crap after this long of a lay off?
  18. My 11 year old daughter is struggling at the plate. She doesn't follow the ball into the bat. I have her on a practice schedule that includes hitting off of a tee and hitting one of those balls on a rope that wraps around a pole when you hit it and then unwinds and you hit it again. She also needs to work on her step and weight transfer. She is a huge Crede fan. I want to find a bunch of pictures like this with Joe and Pods as well as other Sox players. So two questions... 1.) Anything else I should be doing? 2.) Please post your pics like this one that shows the hitters head drilled down to the end of the bat, if you have them. I am going to put together a book of pictures like this one and maybe we can take it down to the park for some autographs. I just want her to think about making good eye contact with the ball and bat. Thanks for the help!! P.S. I am not pushing. She love to play ball and wants to do well. She knows that next year is the next league up and she wants to play well and hit the ball hard.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) If the database contained just those people's calls (those who are non-citizens, and/or overseas calls involving non-citizens), then I am perfectly fine with it. Then the data base becomes discriminant and would be illegal. You would have to give service providers a target list of numbers to track. Since it now records all calls, it is legal. Kapeesh? Only the records of foreign hostiles are opened in a specific search criteria and those who they have had contact with become collateral discovery. To give you another example. A municipality can monitor an intersection with a camera as long as the monitoring is done indiscrminatley. They must monitor all traffic and activity at that corner, not just when a certain individual is present.
  20. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I'm sure they would know their time would be runnin out. Minutes could be the difference in preventing an attack. They read all about the program in the NY-Times. Sure they know time is running out. They either bail out and go into hiding of they pull the trigger on the plan.
  21. If a known foreign terror suspect places to or receives a call from inside the US, citizen or not, the person on the other end becomes subject to suspicion and further investigation. The vehicle to find out these names is the phone data base. It is, in and of itself, not unconstitutional. Certain uses can be but the data base is just a collection of data. If it is used to investigate domestic criminal activity without a warrant that use is illegal. Tracking the movements and communications of hostile foreign forces is not only lawful but compulsory activity our government should be doing. If it leads to a domestic connection, it is collateral discovery. You claim that the data base is illegal. I contend that it is not.
  22. "And that has what to do this topic?" QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) A gun owners' registry would come in handy for a lot of crime too, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like that. And neither would I - because its unconstitutional, just like the phone database. That aside, I have to say I'm proud of the Canadian authorities for getting these guys. This is what it has to do with this topic. If the Canadian terrorists made call into the US, those numbers can be searched in the data base. Those who received or made calls to these number are subject to investigation/suspicion. Since the US Citizen is not the basis of the search criteria, more collateral discovery, their rights have not been violated but they can still be investigated and ultimatley prosecuted and convicted based on an investigation that began on a non-US citizen. Pretty basic really.
