  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) We won the World Series last year, now much has it really hurt us? The thing is with a set budget, the amount extra you spend for a Borass client, comes out of our bottom line somewhere else. What Kenny has done is he has been able to spend every dime wisely instead of spending a ton on a few players, and having it cost him somewhere else. Agreed, keep Boras on the black list. Hopefully more players will see that greed is counter productive to championships.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) He would get roasted over taking Dye...? I don't think so. And if he does, and does, TFB. I agree, ofcourse. I am thinking of the numbers he takes will start to get pulled apart and Dye is one of em.
  3. Ozzie said today in the Trib that he was not going to manage the Yankees. Good for him. 4 Yankees lead the A/S balloting w/3 Red Sox as well. No White Sox player is higher than third. First Base 1. David Ortiz, Red Sox 451,431 2. Jason Giambi, Yankees 321,653 3. Paul Konerko, White Sox 206,472 4. Travis Hafner, Indians 154,878 5. Chris Shelton, Tigers 153,197 Second Base 1. Robinson Cano, Yankees 289,394 2. Mark Loretta, Red Sox 257,125 3. Tadahito Iguchi, White Sox 246,838 4. Brian Roberts, Orioles 130,702 5. Placido Polanco, Tigers 129,596 Third Base 1. Alex Rodriguez, Yankees 524,153 2. Mike Lowell, Red Sox 224,611 3. Joe Crede, White Sox 171,954 4. Eric Chavez, Athletics 167,020 5. Troy Glaus, Blue Jays 145,243 Shortstop 1. Derek Jeter, Yankees 537,218 2. Miguel Tejada, Orioles 370,078 3. Michael Young, Rangers 142,254 4. Alex Gonzalez, Red Sox 130,616 5. Juan Uribe, White Sox 121,304 Catcher 1. Manny Ramirez, Red Sox 516,658 2. Vladimir Guerrero, Angels 514,013 3. Johnny Damon, Yankees 393,643 4. Ichiro Suzuki, Mariners 279,843 5. Gary Sheffield, Yankees 275,688 6. Vernon Wells, Blue Jays 242,211 7. Hideki Matsui, Yankees 231,777 8. Scott Podsednik, White Sox 195,402 9. Coco Crisp, Red Sox 189,680 10. Jermaine Dye, White Sox 183,160 11. Trot Nixon, Red Sox 177,745 12. Torii Hunter, Twins 169,937 13. Grady Sizemore, Indians 137,716 14. Jonny Gomes, Devil Rays 132,264 15. Kevin Mench, Rangers 131,779 Since the All-Star games means home field advantage, it is pretty important to potential playoff teams like the White Sox. My guess on the 10 Ozzie would/should take with him. * = guys he would get roasted over. Mark Buehrle Jose Contreras Freddy Garcia* Bobby Jenks Joe Crede Tadahito Iguchi* Paul Konerko Jim Thome Jermaine Dye* A.J. Pierzynski*** The game is in Pittsburgh so no DH.
  4. Another ball sailed over Macs head last night and cost a run. I think the ball was catchable (the run would have scored anyway but...) BA would have made it look easy. I think you just need to play the kid and let him work his troubles at the plate out. His defense is worth the (temporary) offensive sacrifice, IMHO.
  5. Wow, I thought Cuck the Fubs had issues. Why is it that people who think they are creative always have a ton of time on thier hands?
  6. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Well said. As long as there's beer and hot chicks, the fans will come. And I f***ing hate their fans as well. I want to knock the s*** out of someone when I see them wearing a Cubs hat and shirt. Hey Willey Ligue, Jr., A.) It is just a game. One you are not even playing in, for crips sake. Take a step back and a deep breath. B.) There is nothing the Cubs can do outside of 6 games a year that will affect the White Sox. You hate the Cubs more than you love the Sox. You may not have noticed but the Sox play against American league teams. One of them has a better record than we do right now. I will bet you my house the Cubs are not going to catch the Sox for the American League Central this season. C.) The Cubs/Sox rivalry should always be in good fun and in good taste. If a baseball game makes you want to get violent, you need to move to Europe and become a soccer fan where that kind of thing is acceptable. You have issues. You give Sox fans a bad name. Please stop it. Thanks, Dixie.
  7. I liked the glove fake, DJ. The runner is already moving so he might have designs on third. If he checks up, even a little, it worked.
  8. So, I think what DJ is trying to say there is, unless you have a great year or a bad year, it shoud be average.
  9. I thought Uribe was going to take that one off the bean. But then I remembered, we are not the Cubs. And I smiled.
  10. Bellyard over played that ball. He caught it in between his legs.
  11. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 29, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) I don't even know the formula to choose the winner, if there even is one. So far, we are both winning. I don't think it is a 'who did better' but a 'did they do something'. Cora a little rusty?
  12. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 29, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) THATS MY PTC b****ES! I'm still winning by an RBI.
  13. PTC = AJP Actually, I am going to change that to Thome. Welcome back to the mistake on the lake. "Boo me!! Boo this!!! You can put it on the board, Yessssss!!!
  14. I am not sure what the mix is but get Carl Crawford. Career .322 OB% .420 SL% .289 BA 45-55 Stolen Bases a year.
  15. He does know the Cubs are in the NL, right?
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Why is everybody getting on this guys ass about talking about the Cubs? I'm on this site almost every day and lots of people talk about the Cubs, they get a drop-in mention a lot during the game threads ... Rock, Fathom, myself, several others ... we all make comments/cracks about the Cubs. What he does isn't as bad or certainly any worse than others who beat certain topics to death, or am I missing something here? Lots of people here dislike the Cubs ... almost as much as they dislike the wave. It certainly seems appropriate to be busting on them in this thread too.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) If the fine is $500 or something of that sort, I really don't think AJ will think its worth the effort. If he appeals it, he may end up getting suspended. Has there ever been a situation where a penalty has been increased based on appeal? I don't think so. At least I can not recall one. I hope he does fight it. Mabry got nothing for getting his ass kicked, why should AJP get anything for essentially the same thing? Anderson got off light I thought.
  18. MLB.Com... Press release. A total of four members of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox organizations have been disciplined for their participation in an on-field altercation during the bottom of the second inning of the Saturday, May 20th game between the two clubs at U.S. Cellular Field. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. Cubs catcher Michael Barrett has been suspended for 10 games and fined an undisclosed amount for his violent actions, which led to the bench-clearing incident. White Sox outfielder Brian Anderson has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for his aggressive and violent actions during the bench-clearing incident. White Sox third base coach Joey Cora has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his aggressive actions. White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski has been fined an undisclosed amount for his conduct during the incident. All three suspensions are scheduled to begin on Friday, when the White Sox are at Toronto and the Cubs host Atlanta. If appealed, the suspensions of Anderson and Barrett will be held in abeyance until the process is complete. print this page
  19. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 25, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) When he's wrong, he's wrong (like with the AJ column this week). I'd rather see somebody go both barrels though. IMHO. I just wish the ends of the barrels were in his mouth.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 24, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Your wife is in the game? Can she pitch? Or hit? Or play defense? If so, the Cubs could use her. She can't pitch, hit or play defense yet Hendry won't stop calling. We had to get a restraining order.
  21. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) No, he didn't actually say that. The writer was trying to come up with something that Pierzynski could have realistically said to Tomko while in the process of preparing for a start. I thought that the article was outstanding. This Ethan Trex guy looks like he's 13 years old, but he's funny as hell. But now that it showed up in SI, he might as well have. It won't be long before the haters start attributing it to him.
