2007 Post ASB White Sox Catch-All Thread

Watching the Rain Delay shows, I'm very happy that Jenks has done so well as a MAN here in this city. He's in good shape, his family's in good shape, he's a good influence around the clubhouse, good for his family, good for him. -
Why didn't we protect him again?

Clever ploy.

Top 10 Questions I'd like to see Hillary be asked
Gregory Pratt replied to juddling's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) OMFG. Greg, come on, you're not this stupid. A stupid little email going around on the internet, versus a United States Senator, on the floor of a Senate, holding up a newspaper with headlines on it saying "Bush knew"... which is going to last for the duration of time? It's only in the record of the senate. Yes, the email is stupid. Hilliary is not. Now let's stop with the pettiness, shall we? I think that the emails that get forwarded around along with the bulls*** water cooler talk that goes along with it has more to do with who gets elected President than the facts on the news and all that. One man gets an email saying that there are spiders laying eggs in people's cheeks and before you know it, everybody's checking themselves to make sure that Mitt Romeny doesn't want to eat their babies. Nobody gives a s*** what is or isn't in the record of the Senate or what the context is. Everybody cares about the silly convictions they pick up from their friends, family and by extension, emails. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) And you surely don't think that the picture of her holding that picture/article was to support Bush, do you? I don't give a s*** what she said, the picture was what would last, and she knew it. Right right right, she was pandering to the illiterate conspiracy theorists... ...but which ones? That email is, for the most part, dishonest, and whoever wrote it knew that the initial anger of "WHY WON'T PEOPLE ASK THESE QUESTIONS!"!!!!!!1 would be what would last, and they knew it. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) No grapes. But enough Bazooka bubble gum before the age of 8 that in today's market it would probably add up to a felony charge. My grampa did own the store though. What the f*** kind of person doesn't steal grapes? -

LOL Yeah, f*** it, why bother answering dishonest questions, especially since I'm not her. I did point out the first one's flaws, though. -
I'm not sure Theo respects KW, with the stupid offers he makes us.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Garza = good Floyd = bad comparing the two of them? dumb. Wrong. Both = POTENTIAL

This is our annual sixty-one: the single-minded harping record. You're trying to set a record for most Cubs comments, breaking either Hangar's record or Cuck the Fubs: last year Flash tried to break the record with Liriano: SSI71 is trying to break the record with Walker but he's faltered of late: WhiteSoxFan101 is trying to crack it with Ozzie: LV wants to do it with Rowand, but he doesn't have the longevity or the total posts on it to make it: I'm trying to do it this year with Gavin Floyd and John Schuerholz. *

I'll say something nice about Kenny Williams when we do something right as an organization going into the future. Cue: "Kenny Williams good" or "DANNY RICHAR!!111111" who I am not sold on but he isn't half the defensive hack he's made out to be and he has all right at-bats. Still, I'm unwilling to label him anything as Brian Anderson was good for a very small sample size and so was KW as a player, so I'll wait and see what Mr. Richar does.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) I would retort some of this, but of course it would be a COMPLETE waste of time. However, one I will comment on. The "knowing about 9/11 before it happened" bit is just pure bulls***. I get so tired of seeing how Bush knew about 9/11 and it's a conspiracy and he allowed it to happen, yet read in the next sentence about how stupid Bush is. You can't have it both ways, and it just feeds the hate mongering that goes on every single day in this country. Thanks for playing, and have a nice day. The "Bush Knew" aticle in the post and Hillary's appearance in the Senate weren't charges that he was involved with it or conspired. Try again. I specifically googled for the article to make sure. Some of these questions are all right. Some of them are bulls***. I'll get into it later. -
QUOTE(iamshack @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 11:22 PM) I'm just continuing to poke fun at your newfound Schulerholzness. It's not newfound. It's just very much deepened with research.

Steff, are you sure you're not perfect? Did you steal a grape from the supermarket or something? -
http://www.thestamfordtimes.com/stamford_t...67280850556.php If I respected him as a satirist, I'd swear he was kidding, but as it stands, this is the stupidest f***ing article I've ever f***ing read about baseball except for maybe "Baseball Canto".

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Why the heck not? I'd love to see the Sox take the initiative and go to a country where baseball isn't exactly a popular sport. The way I see it, the less competition, the better -- if the Sox were to build an academy in a place like the Netherlands, any and all athletes who chose to give baseball a try would basically be controlled by the Sox. If what DBAHO says is true, I think that's some very innovative thinking by those four organizations to go out to Australia. Sure, but we have enough trouble in Latin America, and I doubt we'll outbid anyone anywhere...
-
How many Australian major leaguers are there? How many Australian impact players are there? Same with places like, say, the Netherlands. I don't doubt that there are damn good athletes down there and there's got to be at least one Australian in Austrlaia who could be an impact player but there's no way I'd significantly invest in Australia over, say, Latin America and unfortunately, when you're dealing with an organization like the White Sox, I don't think we can be trusted to competently scout two places so we'll have to focus on one. But seriously, I wish we could be like the Braves where we scout EVERYWHERE.

If Santana and Garland are both traded, the returns won't be comparable at all.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) I guess I should have used color codings...there was a strong element of sarcasm in my post. Really?

Wonder if Terry Ryan would ever trade for a player he'd mistaken for a different player.

Contreras is weak-minded? Let's see your background and how tough you are. Until you've become an exile and a refugee and pitch your team to a World Series, you don't have the proper, ah, credentials to call Jose Contreras weak-minded, bad though he's been of late because of his arm angles and family problems. -
I like GMs like that
