  1. I love Fields. I'm happy to say I've been wrong on him so far. He's come up, made adjustments and hit. He's strong as hell, too.
  2. How sure of that are you Rowand? PS: all I'm saying is, there's a reason he was a punch-line on Philly's site during the draft and the Phillies thought they'd absolutely hosed us when they traded for Garcia. It isn't because people were breaking down the door for Gavin Floyd, that's for sure.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Why the f*** would the Sox want to trade there best starter. The whole point in having young talent is to put it together with veterans. If all the team wants to do is trade every player that turns good than it will consistently suck. No offense, but any idea involving a Garland deal that doesn't involve the Sox absolutely reaming another team is a dumb idea. Garland should be offered an extension this off-season and this squad should be building the rotation around both him and Buehrle (plus I'd like to keep Vazquez, although I'd settle for the club picking up another veteran pitcher with two youngsters part of the back end of the rotation). That's kind of the point. It's easier to ream another club with Garland than Buehrle because of the years on his contract. PS: Buehrle>Garland
  4. Well at least we agree about Buehrle. That merits a:
  5. Now it's over for the White Sox fans dream of ripping Billingsley away.
  6. I'm sure there are other GMs that would give Gavin Floyd a chance...for a bag of balls, but not serious talent.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) Cause I know all. Was it you that told me when I was talking doomsday awhile back about our offense being bad and Konerko, especially -- someone said to me, "He won't [have another year like 2003]" and I said, "He's having it and there's precedent" and I think it was you that said Konerko wouldn't have such a bad year. Was it? I don't think Buehrle will have a bad year this year.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 02:39 PM) The man has won a WS, he is now a multi-millionaire, and he's reunited with his family. I admire the man, too, but I'm way past feeling sorry for him. I still have a ton of sympathy and respect for him. He's probably got to go -- I'd deal him and Garland and maybe Vazquez, if you could get something worth it -- but I will really miss him.
  9. I'm having a little trouble falling asleep.
  10. I've very much appreciated the sentiment -- I'm touched by this still-standing thread -- but I think it's time to take it down lest I think too much of my responsibilities as a coming father of three.
  11. I think it's the coolest thing in the world that the Braves have that Australian guy on their team and he's actually pretty good as a reliever. Where's our Australian Guy?
  12. Not knowing either one, I like Contreras better than Buehrle as a person but that's because I greatly admire Jose's life. He's an amazing man who has lived an amazing tragedy, and I dearly want Jose to have a happy ending somewhere. I just wish it could be here, but I don't think that's possible. Buehrle I love, too, and I'd rather have him around long-term than Contreras, but I hate that reality. It's silly, but I wish we could send Jose to NY with Orlando and he could be happy there. These are just little feelings I have and thoughts. Personally, I think it's very possible that Garland goes for some young, good positional prospects. Dye for Billingsley? Contreras for someone in NY (Milledge?) and you've got the money for Buehrle + Ichiro (though Ichiro pays for himself) and a variety of possibilities. None of that is likely to happen, though. At least not in conjunction.
  13. So we all riot if Buehrle isn't dealt OR re-signed, eh?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 01:00 AM) For real? Filled with what? Are they any good? I can't imagine a ballpark pierogi. Potato. Maybe other things. Isn't that cool? I really think so.
  15. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines If it were up to me, Dye would go and Buehrle+Gooch would probably stay. Of course if it had been up to me we would've never extended Vazquez, Crede + Dye would've been dealt last offseason and probably a few other guys, too, though I'm sure I'd have dealt off those guys. Whatever, though. I am having trouble believing that Buehrle won't be here next year. It's really sad.
  16. I know. Oh, I know! By the way....did you see the latest article....on....Mike CARUSO?!
  17. You can't hope a hotdog into a five-course meal, southside.
  18. Do you think he's the same guy he was in Milwaukee? In 2005? Hell, he isn't as "good" as he was last year.
  19. Listen, Kenny. They're your players -- not your equals. Don't take what they say as gospel again. Besides, Konerko is a terrible person to ask.
