White Sox vs. Royals, 5/12/07 (W)

QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Anyone find it weird on Uribe's double how they never showed Erstad? For a second, I was worried that he thought it was a homer and didn't keep running hard. Hawk's reaction was so strange. Erstad's better than that. I imagine most of our other hitters would've jogged. And even if they were running at full-speed, they'd barely reach around the bases. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) Dejesus coming into tonight: Against RHP: .277 BA, .754 OPS Against LHP: .286 BA, .864 OPS I'm betting the WGN won't run this garbage propoganda commercial come late June. I hate that Chuck Norris commercial -

Grienke has 9 different pitches when you factor in the arm angles, so it's okay -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Wow, a grounder by Mackowiak. I'm stunned. Either him or Cintron needs to be traded. Who would want them at this point? especially Cintron. Mack, Dye and Crede should've all been dealt this offseason after their best seasons -- and by flukey I mean flukey in two out of three cases, with Dye's being flukey only in that he's good but not THAT good. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Thome's not supposed to be back for at least a week. I hope not. Let's not rush him. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) You must have me confused with someone else? I love Erstad. He's looked fine. That groundball up the middle, for instance, was up the middle. It wasn't badly hit. It was a good play by the Royals. -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) He's too busy showering Terrero with love to care about the team. Yeah, that's it. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) i can't blame walker for the loopy, slow swing. it seems to show up in all of our prospects before Walker gets a hold of em. Except Sweeney who was never like this PS: we're winning, guys. try to enjoy it. let's not rip each other's faces off just yet -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 12, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) If walker is trying to f*** his swing up, while other guys on this team cannot hit and our batting average is last in the american league, he is begging for a pink slip. Nobody will fire him, though. Because the hitters like him! -

Uribe! -
I think Blyleven belongs on the list. He used to throw his curveball at hitters' heads and they'd bail only to watch it curve into the strikezone from the ground.

In his time, Johnson was the most intimidating, but he wouldn't hit anyone on purpose because he was a gentleman who feared hurting someone seriously. Nobody except Ty Cobb realized that, however. Really interesting stuff. As far as Randy Johnson + Koufax = HIGHER! goes, I don't know about Koufax. Johnson I'd consider bumping up, but Koufax has no business as high on that list that he is. He wasn't intimidating in the typical sense. He was intimidating because hitting against him was like drinking coffee with a fork. /quote I think Marichal and RJ belong higher than Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens, but Clemens I can see being higher, consider his roid-rages.

Heads said yesterday that he won't be here today, so the gamethread's up for everyone. I see that yesterday's thread is still up, so I thought I'd start up today's.

Anyone have any thoughts on this poem? I'm not fond of it, nors its author.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 10, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Or accurate. Wrong. I think Ozzie compares favorably to almost all managers. Take today. Someone said earlier, somewhere on this board, something to the effect of, "Props to Ozzie for leaving Contreras in." Well if the Twins had rallied to lose or rallied and won (but rallied either way), it'd be, "Why's he going with the old man?" "What's wrong with him?" "Moron." "Idiot." It's easy to talk about Ozzie as a bad in-game manager but I don't think he is especially bad. Managers make boneheaded decisions sometimes. It happens.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 10, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) How does a 40 year old pitcher not know if he throws side arm or over hand? Nice K Ed not sure about the strike zone Haha.

I barely realized it was a day game.

Guillen leans toward demoting Sweeney

I don't see any reason to send him down. Ozzie loves Sweeney. Keep him, damnit. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2007 -> 11:55 AM) No place for Glaus to play. I'd love to get Rios though, he'd be a great fit in RF to replace Dye after this year. Uh, Glaus would play third. We'd send Crede elsewhere. Rios would be amazing.
