QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 16, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Bonderman going on the 15 Day DL for the Tigers with blister problems. Taking his spot in the rotation is Andrew Miller. Link Oooooooooooooooooooh oh oh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm interested to see how it works out. I hope Miller fails miserably.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Shoulda left him in, hes cruising. Sometimes you've got to pull him early. Keep his arm sound. Keep his confidence up. Take no chances at this age. He did enough. He did fine. GET TO THE CHAT -
Come on guys, at the least you have a responsibility to confirm that you're coming or...disconfirm it.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 15, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) I guess it's good that he didn't go down there and totally tank, but he's not really improving. He's striking out in about 25% of his at-bats -- if AAA pitchers are striking you out that much, there are MAJOR holes in your swing. Now you're talking my language. -

Well, I agree, but I'm unwilling to fall in love again based on AAA or ST. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 15, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) You're not really looking at the right stats. He's still striking out as much as he did in his last full stint down at AAA. If he were to come up today it'd probably be more of the same ole, same ole. The same goes for our other real hitting prospect down there, Josh Fields, who -- believe it or not -- is striking out in a larger percentage of his at-bats than Anderson is. It's funny seeing the some of the same people who ripped on Anderson call for Fields to be the Sox' third baseman next season. Oh, I know that Fields is K'ing. Fields is not a real prospect, IMO. I think he'll bust. I know BA is still K'ing, too, but I mean...he's hitting fairly well, as far as average, which is what most people cite on here to talk about how well he's doing. I really wish the best for both of them. I'd be as happy as anyone else if they could come up and be genuine big-leaguers. And I'll be happy as all when Toby's back, provided he can hit. -

QUOTE(chisox72 @ May 15, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) On a side note, while we wait... Toby Hall tonight 2-2, 2 singles, 2 RBI Jim Thome tonight 0-1, 1BB Hall seems to be getting it together nicely. He might be but we don't know that. AAAnderson lights it up down there. Comes up and is terrible. From what I understand, it's a terrible league with a lot of terrible players. It's hard to measure much. That he's getting hits is positive, but I want to see how he reacts to Major League pitching. Glad he's doing well in AAA, though. -
Bloomberg couldn't win. I'd love to see him run though and draw attention to serious issues like energy independence. then and only then would he be successful.

Might be his feelings, if the people from Philadelphia are to be believed.

First Vernon Wells..Now Ken Griffey Jr.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) I really wish Griffey had gotten to stay healthy and was the one making a run at Aaron. It would have been nice to see a good guy break the record, not only for the good of the game, but also so we would have to hear about "racism" being why people don't want Bonds to break the record. I don't hear that very often. Where've you heard that more than once or twice? -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) And Edge gets superkicked into Smackdown, obviously Ortons new legend to "kill" is HBK Again?!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) How much money do you invest in your season tickets. Because a few years ago, with the 05 season a lot more people decided to drop a lot of money, and I mean a lot on season tickets. Now imagine you are a new season ticket holder who saw a team just miss with 90 wins your invoice just came in for 07 renewal. So its a lot of money but you love your whitesox. So is the average new season ticket holder about to drop a s***load of money when you ditch Crede, Dye, Garcia and Bmac. I just have an Ozzie plan which still wasnt cheap and I would be livid if KW decided to cut out Crede and Dye at the same time. Season tickets and attendance have a direct impact on the sox payroll. Does that carry over for you with Podsednik? The casual fan at the park I just don't think there's much merit to, "THE FANS LIKE THEM AND YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK LOSING SEASON TIX" if the alternative is "More of the same" with regard to slow ass guys who are going to regress.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 13, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) KW tried to balance both competing and rebuilding for the future during the offseason. That doesn't work in this day and age with big contracts. We went from having one of the more talented teams in the AL to closer to the middle of the pack. The crazy thing is that this team can't nibble. It can't rally. It's got to homer or drive one deep or nothing will happen because three singles in a row aren't a shoo-in to score runs for us. Speed kills.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) How do you move a guy who had an MVP type season. That would be crazy. Everyone including I would of considered that KW went nuts and was trying to go cheap and didn't want to compete. How do you do it? You pick up the phone, dial and say, "Hello there, partner." I think you'd have to be really stupid to think that Dye was going to repeat his 06 numbers. He'd be a closer bet for 05 numbers, which are good but not great. KW shocked the Sox world with McCarthy's trade; he should've done the same with Dye and Crede, IMO, but definitely Dye because the return value would've been significant. QUOTE(fathom @ May 13, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Exactly, there's too many people struggling right now to just put a band-aid on things by making one acquisition. The damage was done by not making a few moves to spark the offense, and now we have to just hope the core offensive players can get it done. So many of them seem to have lacked significant bat speed since the start of the 2nd half last year. If someone's giving you talent in return for Masset, you should have no problem with that trade. The only untouchable in our entire organization should be Danks. KW He's just a tick below Gavin Floyd in the Arizona League
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Here is the problem with the lets move Dye because he is in a walk year and he is hitting poor. He is hitting poor. So what does a sub 230 hitting guy in his walk year call for as far as moveable talent. Do you think that someone is going to give us major league ready talent, or top prospects. No. This overall slump is a double edged sword. It screws us a team for performance reasons, and it messes their trade value. I wanted Dye gone in the offseason. Maximize his value.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 13, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) Crede for Willits would have been one of the dumbest trades in the history of sports. Willits isn't young....and trust me when I say we want nothing to do with Chone. He's one of the more overrated players in baseball. I'd definitely take either of them over Crede pops up. I've never had faith in him as a player. I've always thought last year was a fluke. I'm not surprised to see him revert. I'm looking for speed in our lineup. Contact. Not bumbling sluggers, which Crede isn't good enough to be considered. As for Willits: he'll be twenty six this month. That's young. On paper, Lee for Podsednik is one of the dumbest moves in the history of sports, too.
-
You know, I wonder if Crede for Willits straight-up could've been done in the offseason. I'd have done it. Or Crede + something for Willits and Figgins. Dye to the Dodgers. Dye to anyone would've been good. This team is too slow. Period. Konerko can't be moved for political reasons; Thome can't be moved for his NTC.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 13, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) If history is any indication, the Sox will win the first two, and the Cubs will win the last game in a shootout. Soxtalk will continue to b****. Soxtalk is b****ing because we have absolutely no offensive attack. Where the Twins have pirahnas, we barely have guppies.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ May 13, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) Toby Hall says he hates you. You know what I meant. I was talking about genuine AAA guys, not rehab assignment guys. But that said, I think Toby will come up and do terrible. He's got a partially torn labrum.
