Because he has seen his at-bats in the past, probably, and they're all the same.

That he didn't do much last year? Uh, I just made it up. If he turns out to be Crede -- well, that's not exactly optimal, and it probably doesn't bode well for next year, either.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) Which is why the home run he gave up to Albert Pujols is understandable but to give up homeruns to Carlos Lee and Scott Rolen on 0-2 counts is just inexcusable. A 2 run HR to a crippled Edmonds on a 3-2 count is never pretty but you're right the other greats of the NL got to him such as Ronny Paulino, J.J. Hardy, Brandon Phillips, Ronny Belliard and Jimmy Rollins.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) Aardsma, the guy KW got to take McCarthy's place in the bullpen, gave up a ridiculous number of gopherballs himself in a very weak NL, but if you read this board, he's unhittable. The NL has some very good hitters in it.

Buehrle turned down multi-year offer from the Sox
Gregory Pratt replied to CSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) Burnett got $11 mil per over 5 years, Washburn got $9.5 per over 4 years. Garland got his extension for $10 mil per over 3 years in the offseason, and everyone was surprised that he came so cheap. It was pretty clear that the price of pitching had gone up, to the point where $33 mil over 3 years obviously wouldn't cut it. Right. -
QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) I hope BA can back up all the talk. I have a feeling he won't. I'm with you on that. -- BA had better be ready to work this year. Since he didn't do much last year.

Everything that Ozzie has said and that story that came out a month ago all suggest implicitly and explicitly that Anderson had a poor work ethic. I'm not even going to get into Pods or anything else since I wasn't talking about that. If you'd like to have a sililoquey about Podsednik and Timo Perez, by all means -- and I think I agree with a good portion of it -- but I'm not going to get into that.

I concur: you've got to have confidence. Absolutely. I've seen Terr. play and I don't want him very much. I wasn't defending the idea of him being on the roster, not at all, but I do like having him in the minors just in case. I'm defending Ozzie from the criticism that he's somehow persecuting BA. Apparently, BA wasn't just confident last year: he had an ego and didn't work hard and of course didn't bring much to the table offensively. For Ozzie to say he's not guaranteed a spot this year, I can't blame him, and it's definitely not "persecuting" or as if Ozzie is singling him out because he's a bully or whatever the consensus has become.

Anderson was terrible last year and apparently had an ego and poor work ethic behind the scenes. Guillen is saying he isn't guaranteed a starting job this year, whereas last year it was quite clear he was The Man and all the eggs were in his basket going in. That devilish Osvaldo!

Buehrle turned down multi-year offer from the Sox

If 3/33 is correct, then the Sox were lowballing Buehrle in years and money. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Looks like crazy ol' Flash and his persistent rants concerning the minor league system have new company in Williams. It's almost as if a figurative brick hit Williams on the head this previous season. It's a simple equation -- no production from within the organization + reluctance to sign pitchers to long term deals + inability to locate/sign foreign talent + division rivals with legitimate farm systems = teh suck. Less we forget, positional players aren't exactly compensating for the lack of pitching depth. It's medicore through and through; but atleast there exists hope -- if Konerko's contract was any indication -- we're willing to spend necessary funds for positional players. Like clockwork.

Dominican Trainer Banned From Baseball

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2763252 pretty good read I've known about this guy for awhile. I think I posted the link to it when the story first broke about Juan Gone last year. I feel so uncomfortable seeing Pedro Martinez as one of this guy's clients cause it's pretty clear to me that he's a steroids peddler. -

Ken Rosenthal Talks Offseason Moves

I'm withholding judgement to see how Freddy rebounds, arm-wise, how Floyd turns out, and how Gio turns out, but I just don't like this deal and never really did. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:46 AM) he can walk for 26 mil. His attitude is a drawback, plus pitchers are never as solid as hitters with big contracts. Seriously.
