  1. I appreciate the ROY nomination. Truly, and I thank whoever posted it. But, uh, I'm not sure whether I should laugh, cry or say thank you to whoever nominated me for the Conservative Award. I'm...glad? I guess, but, umm. Yeah.
  2. Lincecum is going to be amazing.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) You're right. God forbid a candidate come across like a real person. That's right. Because their appearances on all shows are scripted and planned out completely and absolutely.
  4. It's hard to defend balls that aren't in the yard anymore. 'Cause I seem to remember Garland giving up about twenty homeruns by the AS break. I remember several pitchers suffering from poor, poor defense at certain points.
  5. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) if we're not keeping our own expensive pitchers, why would you think we're going to sign more expensive guys from other teams? think Gio, Danks, Floyd, Massett, Broadway and McCullough not johan Call me a pessimist, but that rotation is ugly.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) Huckabee REALLY impressed me on the Daily Show. That's probably the worst place to take an impression from of a politician, I think. I like Huckabee (a lot, and for awhile) and Hagel from the Right as legitimate candidates to win the Presidency. Brownback's a good longshot. Giuliani would be an idiot to run and would never leave the primaries; McCain is going to be decimated in either the primaries or the general, but he'll be decimated. I'm not really impressed by any of them, though.
  7. QUOTE(chisoxgrl @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) They do not all look alike :0) Especially because they all have numbers on their backs! C'mon Crede and Gooch??? Crede is 6'2" and Gooch is 5'10" big difference! :0) He was kidding.
  8. How do we all feel about the assertion that Fields' bat is about as good as Crede's?
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) I think it's close, but he's going to want atleast 5 with an option for the 6th, perhaps either a player option or a vesting team option with like 1000 innings or something very achievable. Say 5/$75 with an $18 mill option for the last year. That'd be great.
  10. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) Do you think Buehrle would do a 4 yr deal with an option for the 5th worth around 70 including the option? This ofcourse being done after about 2 months of actually seeing how he responds to last year. It's certainly an interesting offer. A contract with options -- perhaps options that automatically kick in for the fourth year if he meets certain incentives in the third year -- might be best for both sides. Who knows if KW will actually offer anything, though.
  11. That's a bad ass idea you've got there. Congrats! and best wishes!
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 05:29 AM) GP, I love you. Not to sound gay. I don't care for Hanks. But Spacey and Freeman are two of my favs ever. And American Beauty is a classic. I might watch it tonight. Hanks is probably my least favorite of those three, but I don't think there's a film he can't do. I love you too. That's right.
  13. Saw American Beauty for the first time. Loved it. Kevin Spacey, Tom Hanks and Morgan Freeman are my favorite actors.
  14. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Known as "Maurice" to his closest friends. 'Cause he speaks, to the pompatisness of love
  15. Yes, but the key difference is that the Sox have a great rotation, too, and have been adding pitching as well as hitting while the Yankees have failed to do the former.
  16. The Red Sox are fierce without Helton. With him, I'd have to pencil them in for first right now in the East, although I'm still weary about that bullpen.
  17. QUOTE(shoota @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) WMVP played a clip last night of Buehrle stating he wasn't asking for Zito-like money. Buehrle also stated he's willing to take a discount to stay with the Sox. We know Buehrle rejected a 3-year deal at $31 million, and he's open to signing for less than Zito. That means he desires a contract more than $10.33 per year and less than $18 per year. IMO, until KW offers a contract between those two figures, he shouldn't be stating there's no way for him to resign Buehrle. I concur.
  18. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) i dont think thats the case...plain and simple, buehrle doesnt deserve to be the opening day starter, yea garland should start over contreras...but it shouldnt be buehrle No, Garland should not start number one. -- I have no problem with Contreras over Buehrle. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) According to Levine the Sox offered Buehrle a 3yr $31 deal last July and it was turned down. That's quite the lowball offer.
  19. I can't explain why, but he looks like Toucan Sam to me.
  20. Where'd you get those pics, grease?
  21. So someone posted on Reifert's blog, and then on WSI, that Pierzynski was at SoxFest in crutches. Did anyone hear anything about this? Any info?
  22. Do you...have two penises...one of which is about to be chopped...because it's been erect...for a week?
  23. I believe that parole should be a process that exists, and I do believe in rehabilitation the idea, but I can't understand how anyone can believe that a man who slit a five year old's throat can be "rehabilated" or deserves a "second chance." There's just a certain evil inherent in killing a defenseless person that makes denial of parole and life in prison and perhaps execution a no-brainer.
  24. Maybe, but he shouldn't have been running his mouth in the first place.
