Best of Soxtalk 2006 Nominations
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) At least you have a chance in that category. I was nominated in the Conservative category, with Nuke. Yeah, I'll win that one! But hey, couldn't have lost to a better guy. Imagine how I feel: I'm in that category and I'm not in that category! Start a fire. (PS: I voted for you.)

Want to break a world record?
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) I think that page is mocked up. I certainly can't search out that perticular record at the Guinness records site: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/default.aspx The way I remember it, it was either a joke or it was up for a little little bit a long time ago and then taken down. I'd bet that it was a mockup from the beginning. Nobody can be that dense.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) I really don't think the Steelers would go for that.

Soxtalk Community Prediction: Scott Podsednik
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) A Devil Ray by May. They have too many outfielders already. -- I can't predict anything for Podsednik except that he'll be our most criticized player unless Uribe comes back real out of shape but even then I don't think he'll reach the contempt of Podsednik. I'll bet he has an okay year.

BEARS in THE SUPERBOWL!
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) Rex's Super Bowl effort was in a class of its own. People, ideally those with limited football knowledge, will probably blame him alone for losing. While it's obviously false, he IS to shoulder the largest percentage of it. Think about it like this -- years from now, will the public consciousness remember how the defensive linemen couldn't touch Manning; or will they remember the exploits of Grossman? If we fail to reach another superbowl within a reasonable amount of time, this town will never forgive Grossman. Never. Personally, I've already lost all hope he'll progress into a decent, consistent quarterback. I suppose all those who think otherwise, including the Bears organization, will have to go through this all again next season. They'll learn eventually. Most teams don't touch Manning. I don't exactly fault our D for that.

BEARS in THE SUPERBOWL!
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) A standard 4-3 defense similar to that of the Eagles with hardcore blitz packages and man to man coverage on the outside, you can't run the cover 2 when your safeties are terrible in coverage. Rivera learned quite a bit under Jim Johnson when he was on the Eagles coaching staff and I really think he could make this defense unstoppable. I don't know what Urlacher likes but an Eagles style D would really emphasize his many talents. Good answer.

Kalapse: What does Urlacher suggest we put in place? What would you put in place?

BEARS in THE SUPERBOWL!
Rex Grossman is so fundamentally unsound. He can't handle snaps, throws off the wrong foot, can't make reads. Bah! What an embarrassing game. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I was wondering that and why he didn't play a single song written after 1983. Come on? Black Sweat is a jam! Turn the ball over more than five times and you usually don't win any game, let alone the Super Bowl. But Rex was pretty awful for most of the game. He only seemed to find his groove when the game was iced. Looked to me like the Colts mailed it in when the game was iced for good.

Texas Ordering all girls to have cancer vaccine
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) As is almost anyone with a cervix and uterus. I like how those with a penis are hootin and hollerin' about it being a bad, bad thing... I wonder how those dolts would deal with 1/100th of the pain that comes with cervical or uterin cancer. Idiots. Well I'm with the girls on this one.

Anyone familiar with Crain Magazine?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) I believe it is some business magazine or something owned by Bentley-Forbes, or so I was told. They will be doing a feature on me and a friend of mine who are doing well as young entrepraneurs and leading our business class in school. Can anyone tell me anything they know about this magazine? Congratulations, Slav. Choo are a man boy to admire.

Things I Miss
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) Here's one thing to look forward to: for the first time in a while Buehrle's not pitching opening day. That means about 90 more minutes of beer sales. In '05 I was on maybe number three and the game was OVER. Whaa?? Damn you, anti-beer Buehrle! Jose shall now be called Jose Cuervo instead of Contreras, to honor his contribution to our imbibing. I wouldn't count on it just yet. I'm personally hoping to see Buehrle start Opening Day, but Guillen himself said he didn't make his decision fully yet.

Date for final Harry Potter book
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's amazing how an easy read with hardly any relative meaning sells like hot cakes. 6.9 million copies? This must be some kind of a sick joke. Have you read the books? 'Cause, uh, they have plenty of deep meaning in them.
