QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) He's a corner utility outfielder asked to patrol CF. That doesn't excuse him from being unable to read the ball.

It's true that the bullpen's a pain in the title defense. But I'm, personally, more bothered by Mackowiak's poor patrol of Center field. I know that the bullpen is our biggest concern, but it's not that bad to me as a fielder who can't quite read the ball off the bat. At least with the bullpen, there are reasons: we've got rookies, expected drop offs, and an old man. Perhaps I was spoiled by Rowand and Anderson, but I expect far much more from Mackowiak.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Anderson's defense has taken on a Chuck Norris like mythology on this site. Yeah, well, it's such a stretch to say that on a ball that Mackowiak froze on and misread, but still ALMOST caught up to, Anderson would have gotten.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) I say we overpay and reacquire Rowand. 2 prospects and McCarthy. That's a grand idea.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Our offense has also left 9 on base. That pisses me off nowhere near as much as Mackowiak's inability to read a ball off the bat or catch up to one of his misreads. Worse, Mack has been doing this consistently.
-
If we lose this, that's another game -- the third, by my count, in the last month -- that Mack's glove has cost us. We're either going to value defense and leave Anderson in during tight games, or we're going to keep dropping games because our defense has a hole in Centerfield when Mackowiak steps in.

I don't know what to tell you, Hat. ------------------ Let's get some runs.

Oh, poor Jon. He recovered well from the homer, to have this happen to him. Pods -- bad job. He'll get a lashing from Ozzie in the clubhouse. As far as Nelson goes, I didn't expect him to set the world on fire, and he hasn't disappointed. However, I do like that he looks angry and disappointed in himself but looking to get redemption next time, unlike Politte who throws a s*** inning and looks like he needs to get put to sleep.

Come on, we need some more. With Garland, NO LEAD IS SAFE!

I think that Greg fellow is right. -
Tonight I'm hoping for two Sox victories. Red Sox in Detroit. White Sox in Chicago.

I hate the music Cleveland plays. They were playing that song from the Six Flags commercial with the dancing old man earlier. I thought it highly out of place. God, I hate games like this one. -

Konerko better be pinch-hitting here. -

More Brandon! (I'm not willing to crucify him over that homer. I just feel bad for the kid.) (I do think this is what we get for putting Mackowiak in there when he clearly shouldn't be more than a utility man. More Anderson, please.) -

I don't want to see any bullpen bulls*** tonight. Ozzie has Cotts and Nelson warming -- I hope he doesn't just pull Brandon after this inning for some stupid matchup. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) After his last outing 5 ER in 6 IP with only 3 HR allowed, he's back on track. GOOD THING HE'S OUR STOPPER! -

God damn it. Two Ks, at least, but it's quite unfortunate how that -- the homer -- worked out. Bah. -

At the least, Thornton got that guy. Looks like he's recovered nicely from the homerun, unlike some other bullpen guys we have (Cliff). Let's cut them down here and get back in this game. -

Mack made a nice catch there. I'm surprised. Pleasantly. Thornton looks off, too. Throwing more balls than usual. GOTTA CINCH IT UP AND HUNKER DOWN!
