  1. Freddy's throwing too many off speed pitches again. Beautiful, Crede!
  2. Oh! The thing that really stood out to me yesterday about Maddux was the way he looked when Thome took him deep. After the game in the PC he said, "Thome's good, man." It cracked me up.
  3. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ May 20, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) i hate that. but bah. i guess thats my only option? I think that's about right.
  4. QUOTE(BFirebird @ May 20, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) That is during Spring Training. Well I knew that, but I thought I'd read somewhere that it had been changed for the season, too. Guess not.
  5. A Tampa Bay fan wanted to fight him and Widger, too! (God, that guy was hilarious.)
  6. I thought the DH rule had been modified so that the AL Manager can ask the NL manager if he's no problem with them DHing?
  7. Do you think Lidge will recover from the Pujols-Podsednik Syndrome he's suffering from? I don't know what to make of his fall from grace, myself. I hope he gets better soon, because he's lights out when he's on and it's impressive, but I wonder if he's been permanently broken.
  8. QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ May 19, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) I don't know if they showed it on TV or not, but after Pods stole 2nd in the 6th Maddux turned around and it looked like he said something. I told my wife he better not be b****ing about a stolen base with a 6-1 Sox lead, This is not the National League! Maybe he knew with his team that a 6-1 lead was pretty much going to hold up Maddux is always saying things to other players. He just might be surlier than Randy Johnson.
  9. Yeah, that is pretty classless. I wonder what the circumstances were.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 19, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) That last sentence sounds like something your average Cubs fan would say. If an attendance championship is all they ave over us, than they can celebrate that freely. I don't blame our ballclub for laughing at the Cubs, either. They've been playing horribly and deserve to be made fun of. Yeah, I thought it was an out-of-place line, myself.
  11. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ May 19, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Watching the Giants vs. A's right now... Frank is struggling to run the bases. I felt bad watching him barely make it into third (from 1st) on Crosby's Double high and deep off the wall in left. It's been like that for years now, hasn't it?
  12. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/new...t=.jsp&c_id=chc Heh.
  13. In the paper today, in RedEye, I stumbled across something about the White Sox laughing at the Cubs' recent woes and making jokes of them, and somebody asked Dusty Baker about it and he said, "I don't think they were but if they were then that's unprofessional blah blah blah" or something. Did anyone else read about this or have a link?
  14. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 19, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) Easy there... Yeah, seriously.
  15. The Hall of Fame irks me because players that DO deserve it don't get in. It's got a reputation for ignoring Hall of Famers, and I'm hesitant to say that someone like, oh, Robin Ventura will make it because of its nature. I don't think Baines will make it. Should he? I think so, for recognition of his stolen bases alone. But I don't cast that vote, unfortunately.
  16. I've always appreciated Maddux's feist on the field. DJ was talking about Maddux yelling at him one time, and it was great. Don't get me wrong, though. He's so used to being pampered by the umpires that he throws a fit when he's not, for sure. But I appreciate spunk in my players. I appreciate plunk, too, but that's another story!
  17. I used to wear a Cubs shirt to my baseball practice. I used to tell people, "I'm wearing this because this shirt's not worthy of staying clean." Dirty up the clothes pretending to slip somewhere? Or just be a good boy and wear it like you said you would without any gimmicks.
  18. I think Detroit's for real, but we're better, IMO, by far. I can see the Wild Card coming from the Central this year. Chicago and Detroit? I always did think that Cleveland was considerably weaker this year.
  19. Greg Maddux is going to remember that he's on the wrong side of thirty nine. The White Sox will make sure of that!
  20. I'm thrilled to see the Count back. It's no secret that I'm fond of him.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Yes, last night. Ah, okayokay. Are you a Chipper Jones fan, then, or was that just a coincidence that you knew his number offhand? (Perhaps you heard it on the broadcast?)
