Cost of campaign advertising to hit $3,000,000,000.00

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) There will never be a middle class or lower President with this system in place. well, except for the fact that Reagan and Clinton were pretty poor when they started their lives. -
QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 02:39 AM) They may as well throw in Ryan Howard to sweeten the deal. I just hope they were as impressed by Gavin Floyd's ability to lose five miles off his fastball from the stretch (instead of the usual ten or so), beat teams in the rain when they've all-but clinched their division and win with 500 foot fences as some of the posters here. Gillick fell for it, right?
-
That's a funny joke until we think about Bill Frist killing cats and ascending to Majority Leader.
-
If we package Gavin Floyd, Jerry Owens and Joe Crede, can we get Cole Hamels? And if we throw in Uribe, they'll throw in Rollins. Well, we might have to give them a little money, for Owens' salary.
-
What you're saying is -- you think Owens or Phillips have to go with Crede for Howie?

That umpire is really enjoying his strike three calls a little too much. It's actually a disgrace. I usually don't care what the ump does -- I long for the days when umpires fought players after games, it seemed like such a freer time -- but this guy is asking to be...confronted by a Rockies player after every huge left uppercut he throws.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Neither do I, but I can say the same for the Re-pube-licans. Hahaha Someone was bored at work because I can't think of any other reason to type "Re-pube-licans." Hahaha -
QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) Sounds like a party at a good friends place, except instead of Halo, its Super Smash Brothers. Although Halo is great too I paid more attention to the ladies than Halo. But Smash is awesome, too. Really, I gave up videogames when Rare got bought by Microsoft, but damn if I don't still read all the magazines just because.

Oh, and according to the NYT, he's only missed 34 games since 1973. Damn, John Adams is cool. He had his own Bobblehead Day dedicated to him by the Indians!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) The one guy I hate most of all, well besides Ronnie Woo-Woo, is the opera singing hotdog vendor from Detroit. I would run his ass over if I had the chance. There's this guy at Sox Park -- "AAAAAAAAH GOT BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" "AAAAAAAAH GOT BEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" In the left field, third base side, section. Oh, man, I hate him.

I've come away from this series really disliking Eric Byrnes and I never want to see him on my TV again. Do something before you run your mouth, Byrnesey.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) Less than 2 days of the Iraq war = No Presidential Candidate has to raise a cent of private dollars. If not corporate money, what would the candidates stuff up their bums? -
News flash: just about all of them say that they love immigration so long as it's legal, and that's an especially easy answer with a maniac like that questioner.
-
Rockies fans are awesome. Especially with Tulo.
-
There were swords, alcohol, Halo, good people, conversation -- yeah, it was a good party.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) Kendrick >>>>> Richar I agree thta there are other priorities but Kendrick is gonna win a batting title. I would have zero problem if the Sox acquired Kendrick and used Richar in platoon role (I'd prefer one of there SS prospects though). That's quite the prediction.
-
Ooooh, he's so good. He said what just about any other candidate would say in such a situation.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Speaking of debt, it's amazing that the levels are starting to come back due to the revenue growth... wow, supply side economics works every time.
-
I'm just glad Lovie Smith brought in his old, now ineffectual, friend.
-
I think Kevin Youkillis is very ugly and I couldn't look at him for more than ten minutes. The way he runs, the way his face is formed, the beard -- and that monstrous batting stance.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) Alot of teams were better than that team. They alone are in the top 5 (maybe top 3, maybe even numero uno) as the worst team to ever win the W.S. I still think if the 90 win 06 sox would have gotten in, we could have seriously made noise. I don't think so. They were lousy after the first half and it continued in this season, so I don't think they'd have magically flipped a switch, or that Buehrle would've regained some velocity and control, that Contreras' back would've been okay, that Garcia's fastball would've come back (and I wouldn't bet on him in those playoffs, September be damned, even though I was a big fan). That lineup dragged ass and bat, and the bullpen was completely disgusting. No way, homie.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) They're good, but part of that is the competition they are up against. They wouldn't look near this good in the AL (well they wouldn't have even made the playoffs in the AL). They are a lot better than the 2006 Cards. I don't know if that's true. I think they're much better than the Angels, for one.
-
This Rockies team is very, very, very very good. They're not just 'hot' like, say, the Cardinals were hot. They're good. They're for real.

Ed DeBartolo's failed attempt to buy the Sox

Uh, that was Reinsdorf.
