  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 06:50 PM) Well, then I apologize to McCarver. I'm browsing the interweb and watching TV. Although if you ever point out anything wrong with one of my posts again I will subject you to a full beat down. Remember, I'm bigger than you. Yeah, I don't want to be Thomenated. I apologize! -- Goddamnit, Sabathia.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) He meant the Indians during the regular season. Yeah, and I thought that was quite clear, actually.
  3. QUOTE(max power @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) I politely asked one question, don't get your panties in a wad about what your thread becomes. Did you politely puke? And then politely say "don't get your panties in a wad"? Don't act all pissy -- I didn't say anything offensive to you, so calm down. I think all the people who hate Fenway, Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field wish they had a ballpark that was host to a tenth as much history as those ballparks, or which was loved by a hundredth the amount of people. Same with the people who mock the Sweet Caroline tradition at Fenway, or Take Me Out to the Ballgame -- hell, to a certain extent I think the same can be said for those who dislike Steam's Goodbye at Sox Park, or the great advertisements that cover the entire stadium. "Misshapen piece of crap." Give me a break.
  4. QUOTE(max power @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) *pukes* Sold on the laughable "Its historic"? I'm all for history but whats the history of a misshapen piece of crap worth? I agree on the go indians. No, I think it's charming and beautiful on its own merits, not just on history, but I'd actually prefer it if this thread doesn't become a "Yanquis Stadiums sux, Fenways sux, Wrigley sux!" thread.
  5. I want to know how much money he got and who else was interested. But in theory, this is very good.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Bring him in KW. Let Coop hang out in the bullpen where Cave once stood. That'd be something.
  7. Way to go, Hafner. Let's keep it up.
  8. I dropped a perfectly structured, perfectly put 178 word sentence on my Poli-Sci professor in a "B+" paper I wrote. It was a B+ paper because I had an 80 word sentence in there at one point and a 178 word sentence, both of which were perfectly sound sentences but which betrayed the fact that I didn't edit as well as I could've or should've. (I wrote a seven page paper in four hours.) It was a happy day. I got a big kick out of it when he said, "Dude, it's a fine sentence, but it's unnecessary!" Not in those words, of course. And then when I counted the words, I fell in love. I also recently wrote a 113 word sentence for a non-academic venture.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) I'm just yankin' 'yer chain. Yeah, you know, we're Softball teammates. We brought a Championship to Chicago. We have to like each other, on some level.
  10. I'm just saying, to my friend who I happen to disagree with about everything, I would hope that despite the frequent arguments you guys don't forget that I'm funny and smart, and not just some grumpy asshole with half-baked views, is all.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) That's actually quite funny. I would hope that those of you who have significant baseball disagreements with me -- or significant disagreements with my demeanor, more than anything -- don't underestimate my good humor and intelligence.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) This is going to be interesting. I bet there will be more than a few shockers. And I don't mean the kind of shocker you may be thinking of. Hahaha! I wouldn't be shocked. I'll bet there are some shockers with a wink and a nod, but nothing would shock me.
  13. Sounds like it: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3060689
  14. I can imagine what this conversation looks like to outsiders. "!$#%$YTY%$^^%$ %^&&^" "FG%RYHJYUJJUYJK" "f***" "%$^^%&**&$^%&&^" "*************************************************" "As far as I can tell....they're arguing over who is more peaceful!"
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) Who knows if it is true or not, but the Yanks have said if ARod opts out, they are done talking to him. The whisper since has been, Cashman says that, and Steinbrenner really wants to keep him.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 08:04 AM) Good for Al. The question now becomes, are the rumors about him waiting for this to enter the Presidential race true? And the other question is -- are the rumors that he is completely uninterested true?
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Ive been frequenting www.angelswin.com And its an interesting view into how f-ed up fans reactions are to their teams. Angels fans complain about Figgins, and Willits etc about how they have too many "pop-gun" players and they need more homerun power and less speedy contact types of guys. This is virtually the opposite of the opinion of people on this site. its quite fascinating. They have good points when they say, Our lineup is too one-dimensional and lacks pop. Same as people here, myself included, who say we have too many slow aging thumpers, we need some speed and fundamentals.
  18. The Peace Prize is a very political thing. Often it means something but not always. Am I happy for Gore? Yeah. I love Al Gore.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) What in the f*** is going on? Fans throwing s***.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) need to get back to Schuerholz Vigil '07, eh? You know I have nothing but respect and friendship for you, my man. But yes. And besides, I don't want to post the same thing a million times over about Egbert. I'd rather leave with a more reasonable, balanced post.
  21. No, I haven't seen him pitch. Yes, I've spoken to one person who has, in person, and a few others who are familiar, from people on this site to a few other people I know. After that, I don't owe this thread anything and don't wish to contribute more. I don't think it's a crime he's not on the list, he's got a lot to prove, I admire his ethic and success so far. We'll see what happens.
