Yeah, i don't think Papelbon will ever see the starting roation again. He has made comments that if he were to close games for the rest of his career he would be happy with that. I don't think if he went into the rotation and then tried to close games again he would pull a Danny Graves, but why ruin a good thing, esp since elite closers are rare.

the fish are only 5 games behind the Reds in the wild card standings. They're 17-6 in their last 23 (.739) Most Impressive.

Some more about Ryan Wagner compliments of Josh Boyd from www.baseballamerica.com "Strengths: Wagner’s 84-87 mph slider is downright unhittable and grades as a top-of-the-scouting-scale 80 pitch at times. It features sharp, late tilt in the zone and darts away from the barrel of the bat. Hitters have a difficult time identifying his slider, and often think it’s a splitter or true curveball because of its depth. Wagner isn’t a one-trick pony, however. His fastball sits at 91-94 mph and features hard sink and boring action to induce ground balls. His fastball movement is so good that hitters will have a tough time laying off his slider and sitting on his fastball. He showed enough resiliency and durability to work multiple-inning stints for Houston. Though he rarely needs it, Wagner shows a feel for an average changeup, leading some scouts to think he could hold down a rotation spot. Weaknesses: Not many scouts project Wagner as a starter because his delivery and arm action might not be conducive to a rotation workload. While he’ll drop his arm slot at times to create more movement on his fastball, that also causes additional stress on his shoulder—even more than when he relies heavily on his slider. The Reds would like him to become more consistent with his slot and repeating his delivery." If its true, and the reds are sincerely interested id love to see it happen.

I think a team thats completely under the radar as far as Crawford goes is the Marlins. If the marlins did get Crawford, this team would easily be in contention this year(as if they aren't already, ) and it would keep the marlins in contention for the next 6-8 years (provided they were able to extend him). Crawford L Hanley R Cabrera R Jacobs L Uggla R Hermida L Olivo R Willingham L P That is an incredibly balanced line up, and a constant offensive threat both in the batters box and on the base paths. It would be very hard for a manager over the course of a series to play the "match up game". I would give the rays the following for him: Nolasco, Petit & Hernandez. they're so stacked in young talented pitching it is rediculous. In return they would get Carl Crawford. The rays are in a position of strength with their OF but at the same time its a quagmire, they've got Dukes, & Young in the wings and they're not getting any younger. This deal if it happened would be too teams dealing from their respective strengths, it would help both teams out in the interim and for many years to come. and by the way this is his contract situation deal for 2005 season worth 370K was renewed on 3/11/05- + he could earn 20K in bonuses for reaching 500PA- + signed 4-year deal worth 15.25M on 4/1/05 that superceded deal for 2005 season- + he receives a 500K signing bonus and salaries of 500K in 2005, 2.5M in 2006, 4M in 2007, and 5.25M in 2008- + the deal includes a Team Option for 2009 worth 8.25M or a 2.5M buyout- + if the 2009 option is exercised, then a Team Option for 2010 worth 10M or a 1.25M buyout is added- + 2010 option value could rise to 11.5M based on various escalators, including one for AL MVP votes- + as part of the deal, he will donate up to 400K to the Rays of Hope Foundation- + if traded, he receives a bonus worth up to 800K

I agree, alot of people mocked their FO, and now it looks like they're making alot of people eat crow even in their first year of rebuilding. The thing about the marlins current 8 game streak is that Miggy hasn't been producing at the level hes capable of and Ramirez has been slumping big time yet they're winning. Some marlins fans think it might be possible to aquire the likes of Crawford to play CF for the marlins, hes young/cheap/locked up for a long time, the D-Rays need pitching and the Marlins have an abundance of it, it might just be possible, Since the D-Rays are stacked in the OF. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Uggla, what a beautiful Rule 5 steal he's turning out to be thus far. Matching Prince in offensive production. who did they aquire Uggla from? the D-backs? and hes matching Utley's performance very nicely.

The Marlins swept the Blue Jays in interleague play WOW!, this team that was once expected to loose 100 games they have a better record then the following teams: Royals, Pittsburgh, Cubs. they very well could be in the WC hunt with or with out Joe Borowski, Go Fish!
