  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Maybe he has a farm. E I, E I, O.
  2. Hawk and D.J. inexplicably -- and repeatedly -- referring to Mike MacDougal as "McDonald".
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) D.J. taking shots at Mack's CF play right now, or maybe moreso at Ozzie for EVER putting him out there (which I don't get). Interesting. Never mentioned Mack by name, but you and I both knew that's who he was talking about. I'm sure we weren't alone.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) All of a sudden it seems like we suddenly care about winning this game and are trying hard. It's remarkable how good this team can look when that happens. Just watch, Tomorrow, Javy will get touched up for a couple in the first or 2nd, and suddenly they'll look asleep again. This was a nice day, with Javier-free thoughts, until right now. Thanks.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) I am watching the game via Soxtalk. Helps at least look like work. My question is why is Hawk reading Chciago papers in Detroit. I know he can but I think he would have something better to do it is hard to read this crap unless you really want to. I stopped reading the Times, the Trib is 1000x better. Hawk should do the same. Maybe D.J. read it and told Hawk about it.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) Didn't really backfire. If they turn that a hair quicker, the inning ends. Leyland forgot about A.J.'s wheels. By the way, love that Venn diagram in your signature.
  7. Hawk, feeling strong about the club today, decides it's time to go after Mariotti.
  8. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Swinging frequently. Swinging successfully. And, let's give a shout-out to Jim Leyland for the intentional walk. If we're going to criticize Ozzie when a move backfires, it's only fair to point it out when the other guy's plan goes bad, too. So there you go on that one.
  9. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Juan has no chance at all here Swinging frequently.
  10. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Does anyone still want to argue that we don't have the worst pitching of all the playoff contenders? It's not even close. You know, I was about to say the Red Sox pitching looks worse. And then I remembered that Wells held the Yankees down today -- and Schilling did last night -- so I don't know. I do know this, though: our starting pitching is a poor man's mediocre.
  11. Great approach by the Tiger hitters -- going the other way. Good outing by Jose. Good job setting a tone for the series. Good job, Chicago White Sox.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Well considering our starting 9 from opening day plays in about 22% of the games, we may see it at least once this series. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.
  13. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) We could have actually gotten rid of some of the dead weight on our roster and given McCarthy a shot. I believe 100% that this would've been a huge shot in the arm for this team. I think Vazquez, in particular, robs this team of energy every time he goes out there. He's still out there because of the money he's earning, plain and simple. Tell me how that sends a good message.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) The patented head and shoulder slump by Paulie. Feels like 2003 all over again. Paulie, loooookinnnnng gooooooood!!!!!!!!!
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:20 PM) COOP WILL FIX IT The good thing is that if Pods had gotten a hit last inning, we'd be sad that Jose "gave back the runs." See, this way, we don't have to feel badly about that.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Another HBP scores. Its pretty incredible how many score. He loses his spiff every time he hits someone.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) I've been so impressed with Pierre the last 3 months or so. A lot of people knock the guy because of his arm (and it really is awful -- worse than Podsednik's) but he plays hard, uses his speed and runs down everything. I think he's actually a very good centerfielder, arm notwithstanding. Oh, yeah, he also doesn't pout or become reticent when things go bad (like several of our guys, including the starting left-fielder). He has zero pop and doesn't walk much, but he's a damn good baseball player.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) No, but he could have made it closer, and if he had a reputation of running hard, he could cause a bobble once in a while. Dead-on right. I've seen Juan Pierre cause quite a few mistakes this year just because he busts his ass, and has a reputation for doing so.
  19. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) He's the worst fast guy in baseball. At this time he has no value.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) Pods gonna f*** up a huge RBI chance and make me hate him even more. C'mon Pods, this is the one thing you've been good at this year.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) Where the f*** was that pitch Of course he can't pitch over a bad call and walks him Of course. Coop will fix it.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) That might as well be titled "The Scott Podsednik Impact Stat" Last year, Podsednik consistently slapped the ball over the 3rd baseman's head for a hit. I don't think I've seen too much of that this year.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) Verlander retires 7 in a row Think how well he'd be doing if he hadn't racked up all those innings this year.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Wow. 2 great hitters counts and jack s***. 2-0 to PK - foul 3-1 to PK- weak groundout Paulie, once again not getting down on himself. Quick question: when's the last time we manufactured a run?
