Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays ALCS Thread
max power replied to kjshoe04's topic in The Diamond Club
Lester = Ryan dumpster # 2. (but young and more talented) -
With a few less injuries and a little more luck, this team could have easily won 97 games.

I am with the perfect person for me, no one. I am quite a bit happier alone. Someday, I might be more tolerant of other peoples bulls***.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) What evidence do you have that Swisher was benched due to a personal grudge by Ozzie? Swisher was benched because he sucked....he was an automatic out for most of the year. You can't really call him an automatic out when he gets on almost exactly 1/3 of the time. I don't think ozzie had a grudge against him, though.

I think Iam finally a true Hawks fan
max power replied to shipps's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think popular opinion is that the red wings are the Hawks biggest competition and are the favorite to win the division. -
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 05:43 AM) ....and yet they still won the division. Why are people so focused on breaking them up and trying to acquire fast, but perhaps not as talented, baseball players? We should focus more on our holes at 3rd, CF, and pitching. I agree. We should just add some speed, but not completely focus on it, at those positions (not pitching smart asses). I will be upset if dye, thome or konerko get traded. They provide something greater than speed.

Awesome video. Not to criticize but I was simply hoping to see that play by john danks where he beats the runner to home with the ball and tags him out.
-
I guess its the fact that they just beat us out of the playoffs that makes me think a deal is unlikely, but I'll probably be wrong about that too.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) The Angels are contenders? He traded with them last offseason. I was wrong then, what new?
-
I don't see kenny making deals with an AL contender. I can't recall him doing that recently. I don't consider Oakland a contender. They are in another rebuild process.

Dye had a great year in the field this year. Made some game winning catches, didn't dive for balls out of his reach. It was a real bounce back year, and I am looking forward to seeing if he still has it next year. Obviously his range isn't great, but its more than good enough.

I think Kenny is going to trade BA with some other young talent for a rather young, speedy middle infielder who hits for average.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) I'll say Quentin. I love Carlos, but as Kalapse said, it's just going to be really difficult to duplicate what he did. Even if he puts up a .900 OPS, he still is regressing. Thats a tough act to follow. I don't really agree. If he plays the whole year he could have a lower OPS than this year with higher RBI numbers, lets say 125 RBI, getting on at a .380 clip with a .520 slugging %. OPS isn't really the best way of measuring regression in my mind.

QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Where's the "all of the above" option? That isn't to say all of them will suck in 2009, but I don't expect either Danks or Floyd to repeat their ERAs from this year and it'll be incredibly difficult for TCQ to match what he did this past season. I do think Danks and TCQ will both be very good next year, but just not as good as this year. As for Alexei, I don't think he'll regress so to say, but I do think his free swinging nature and lack of plate discipline will come back to bite him. I agree with this, realistically. Even though Q had a phenomenal year, I'd say he is the least likely of the four to regress because of the tireless effort I've read and heard about.

Oh, the money. I am not too worried about the sox over paying someone. I haven't seen that since . . . ?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) I really don't know why anybody wants any part of Sabathia. Why wouldn't they? I read he was a near lock to go to an NL team because he loves to bat, anyway. For some reason I believe it.

QUOTE (Shamrock4Life @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) you are already losing 2 IF, don't know if you can lose a third. if OC is indeed gone and not coming back, I think you have to try and keep Uribe and have him fight Fields for the 3B job. You aren't really losing 3 because two of them split time. The sox can find someone better, fairly easily. Juan would be okay for a few million.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) 9=8 9 players playing together as a team equals 1 of the 8 playoff teams... Something along those lines is what I heard. lol. That's stupider than I could have imagined. -
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) I seriously hope Thome, Vazquez, Griffey, Swisher, Cabrera and Uribe are all gone this off-season Make it happen Kenny edit: forgot to add OC that's almost our entire lineup I want traded, what does that say about the white sox Well three of them are very likely not re-signed. Swisher, thome, I doubt they go anywhere.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) like players would take a message board seriously if they were to read it, most of them would laugh. I think that as soon as you say someone shouldn't voice their opinion you are bound to run into a heap of contradictions. -

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) no kidding, any rookie or player with out much experience should keep their mouth shut.Yet the hoi polloi of message boards are free to spout off like they know something? -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) we call any pitcher who isnt an all-star crap when we dont hit them. I bet other message boards say I cant believe we're getting bombed by this crappy offense on the days we actually score more than 4 runs. Nah. They are being extremely negative about their own team. That's how it is. "We suck" -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) God I hate Clayton Richard. Like I said, our middle relief is a joke. We're not going to be able to hold them down. You hate everyone.
