QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) I know he won't do it, but didn't a guy from the Cardinals just do that fairly recently. Either way, that's the best scenario for the Sox. Either a miracle could happen and Peavy will suddenly become/stay healthy, he'll retire and relieve us of the burden of his contract, or he'll continue to woo everyone with his heart and dragging this soap opera out until his contract mercifully ends. Jake Peavy's contract is such that he is paid to pitch for the white sox when he is healthy enough to do so. You are looking at if he is paid to pitch, and if he isn't doing it, he is stealing money. That's not correct - not reality. If you are upset about his contract and the money he makes while being injured, you should be more upset with KW. Furthermore, why are you so upset about it? Its not your money. We don't even know if its the white sox money or some insurance company's money.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Retire then. Return the money he's stealing. Oh Jake, you're so cute with the way you try. You're like our own little Rudy. You know what, just keep the money. Take some more actually. Oh my, you're so cute trying so hard and being such a great teammate. I wish we had more guys like you, because we'd have a team full of winners and then there'd be no way we could ever lose again. It's just that can-do attitude that brings us all together and helps us play at nearly a .500 winning percentage. Golly, this guy is amazing. I don't think he can do that. He isn't a quitter. He isn't stealing anything either. When a team takes on a contract, risk of injury is part of the negotiated price. The sox sought out Jake Peavy and his contract. They wanted to take this risk.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) Haha, what would it take you guys to get upset? I think fathom was right on about the Garland thing. If Jon Garland were on this team and continued to get hurt, everyone would hate him. But since it's Peavy and he makes scary faces when he pitches and frowns when things go badly, it's OK because he's trying! No, not everyone would. I wouldn't. Some people realize that a pitcher can get hurt despite doing everything he can to prevent injury.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Not get injured? Not get injured constantly? Either of those work. So unless you want to blame God, all of this rests on Peavy and his body. You appear to think he has a choice in the matter. He does not. All he can do is try to pitch and keep himself in good pitching condition. He does that, but still gets hurt. So what can he do that he is actually capable of?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) I was talking about having Peavy back in the rotation, and why unless he's going to be healthy, he's just a distraction and disrupts the flow of the team. I don't think they'll ever move him back to the pen, but if they're doing it for the rest of the year, then I'm fine with that (since we have a need for another righty reliever). I think you are romanticizing this team and the game a little bit. I don't think these guys get distracted so easily. They are paid professionals, most of them have been doing this for years. They might perform worse in roles they aren't used to, but I don't see them losing focus because one of their teammates gets hurt a few times a year. In fact, they are used to him getting hurt, too.

Not only that but I repeated what someone else said.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) The Dbacks have signed 30 of their 52 picks already. Wow. Honestly, it makes me think they are over paying and impatient. I've been wrong before though. -
Miller Park only cost 400 million guys.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) But you need several million, maybe even close to 10 million extra tickets to pay for a dome. Maybe more for a retractable roof. Just think of it as the first ballpark ready for climate change. Well if you are going to use it for 50 years, it might be worth considering. I'm sure they considered it, and decided not to do it.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) You know much that costs? They didn't have any more problems with weather than any other team last year. The Minnesota weather thing is overblown. Perhaps they didn't have problems, but don't you think the fans might show up in larger numbers if they knew they would be comfortable?

These television shows on the u are perhaps the most unimaginative crap that I've seen.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Remember when Soto was on the juice? Man he was good. Remember that commercial he was in where he talked about hitting .400?

Great. More lies from lebron. Why can't he just admit he made a mistake and acted like an ass? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) Well clearly good enough that he belongs in the lineup against Pavano. Not just in it, but leading off. Suddenly, I'm feeling slightly less excited about this game. -

I would have never guessed, but when I read "you'll never guess" it helped me guess. Amazing stat, really. -
They must have been holding them to sell ozzie plans, then through in the towel.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) He is the freaking GM of the team! What more authority would you like on why the Sox didn't draft someone? oh right, some random writer. Anyways, that is all a deflection from the fact that you can't find anyone to back up what you wrote, while I have the guy in charge of the organization's draft in my corner. I'm still waiting to see any proof from you. lol. Oh, man, I'm dying here.

I'm seeing 20% chance of precipitation until about 10 pm, then much worse. We will probably play this game.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Because of the off day, their recent success, and who knows what else - I haven't been more anxious awaiting a game since the first week of the season. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) Heavy rain forecast for tonight. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo!

2006 even moreso for me, because we were the champs.

Yeah, I agree. Or how about road playoff games? Hell yes.
