QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) Can't happen. We talk everything over as a group before a decision like that is made. I did say "good poster" so maybe that doesn't include me. BUT regardless if its one moderator, or a team of moderators making terrible decisions, it has happened. Sometimes a group comes to a worse decision than an individual. 'One of us can never be as stupid as all of us'

While I consider myself a positive poster, and I think anyone who follows my posts would, I am decidedly against this move. I would argue that if you would get rid of some of the other rules, we wouldn't have this problem to begin with. To me, this is just another rule that will get good posters banned when their thoughts are misunderstood by some overzealous, bored moderator. Now I can't make a joke in hyperbole without stating its a joke (stating something is a joke immediately makes it unfunny). This place is still much more interesting than WSI.

That may or may not be true of other forums as well. I simply don't know.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) This forum is more "what have ya done for me lately" than any sports related website I read. I don't agree. The posters here tend to harp on a guy for long after he has turned the corner, and even on days when that slumping player makes key plays to win the game. So even if a player has done well lately, posters tend to look at their failures from weeks and months passed.

Both AJ and Jake are okay. AJ probably shouldn't have been so animated; he should have used discretion. Still, trying to get Peavy pulled, regardless of if he had an impact on the decision, was the right thing to do in order to win the game. AJ was probably afraid that the game would be given away, as he was wondering when they'd pull him. I would have pulled him at least one batter before they did. Peavy is obviously right if he thinks AJ shouldn't "show him up". All in all, its no big deal.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) I don't think ANYONE on this board or KW thought Dunn would struggle so much. He'd been on of the most consistent power bats for a decade and now this? Hindsight is 20/20 but no one could have predicted he couldn't crack the Mendoza Line in late June, maybe a dip in average from switching leagues for the first season, and maybe only 35 bombs instead of 40+, but this kind of suckage is something no one saw... Great point. Now lets all start ignoring it again to b**** and moan.

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Day off, no work, afternoon baseball. Sounds good. Time to crack open a Mad Ballr and hope it sparks the offense. Its starting to look like the pitcher needs a spark too. Mark suddenly can't throw a strike. -

One run isn't going to kill us. We can't win if we can't score, anyway. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Sorry, I won't be around. And if you think I'm the one who will blow up about Hudson vs Jackson, then you've mistaken me for a few other people. As much as I hate that trade, there's others on here that are significantly more upset about it. In general I am a very positive person, but I absolutely hated that trade. I still hate it. If I were around, I'd post ridiculously negative posts. It was just a stupid, stupid move. Jackson pitched very well here at the end of that season, but he wasn't pitching well at the time. And overall, I just don't think he is as good of a pitcher as Hudson. He has a better arm, that's all.

I'm going to head to the bar and visit my friend working there. I believe I will enjoy a variety of refreshments.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) I dislike that logic Then again, that's my biggest gripe with baseball. You get a lot of Adrian Beltre's, Carl Pavano's, and AJ Burnett's having a career year when it's time to grab a contract and then disappear with guaranteed money. Oh, and I also believe that KW deserves to be fired for many things (including acquiring Peavy), in response to your earlier statement. Thank you, sir. If there weren't guaranteed contracts, there would be sickeningly large signing bonuses. In both, there is mutual agreement by both parties that the future is uncertain. Just out of curiosity, what did you think of this deal when it was made? I was fairly uneasy with it, but happy it happened.

I'll be crushed if this one doesn't happen. I've had the last 3 days off work and that is extremely rare for me. Mostly I only get to listen to the games, and I've only seen one so far on my mini vacation. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Cause it's 17 million dollars that could have been spent elsewhere to improve the team? Same reason a lot of people were upset about the pointless Jackson for Hudson trade. That's fair, if you want to assume they would have spent the money elsewhere, which they may not have.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) Fathom covered the last part for me. And obviously I don't think he's physically stealing money out of the coffers of the White Sox. It's a figure of speech. He's making a lot of money that he's doing almost nothing to earn. Well that's where you are wrong. He earned the money for that contract before ever throwing a pitch for the white sox.

Don't forget about Kubel. Is this game going to happen tonight, or are we looking at another rainout?
