I've seen Smoak play his whole career at South Carolina obviously, and I'm still much happier with the Beckham pick. Middle infileders with a good bat are harder to get than 1B/DH types. I don't get all the peoples animosity....guys who play first/DH that have power are a dime a dozen, and yes I know he is a switch hitter.

Oh get over it already. BA scalded a ball off of a guy that is the 2nd best reliever in the AL right now. Knowing our propensity to hit, he tried to make a play. It didn't work out, we'll keep at it.

I don't see that as a dumb play myself /shrug I see it as trying to make something happen because your team has managed a paultry 7 hits in 10+ innings.
