  1. The Show is above and beyond, WAY better than 2k07 if you have PS2 or PS3. I can honestly say that The Show 07 is the best baseball game I've played ever. Every little aspect of the game is pretty crazy. I've had Erstad thrown out of the game on a close play at 1st on a bunt attempt, I had Nick Punto hurt himself on a swing, and he stepped out of the box to try and stretch it out, the umps have their own strike zones, etc...theres tons of nuances that make it great. I'm 5-4 after 9 games, I struggled in Oakland just like real life. Buehrle got shelled in his start there.
  2. Is one really any better than the other? Honestly?
  3. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:01 AM) so the point of this thread is a healthy Pods is a bad thing? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Ozzie Guillen who gave BA a vote of confidence last June when he couldn't get a hit to save his ass and everyone was screaming for him to be sent down? weird s***. The point of this thread is an OF of Erstad/BA/Dye > Erstad/Pods/Dye Having a LF/CF combo of Erstad and Pods is screaming for defensive difficulty in that area, you know, where lots of right handed hitters pull the ball to. Pods can't throw for hamburgers, and we want him to anchor our CF position? The guy that hasn't had a good read on a flyball since 2003? Pods makes a great reserve OFer. He can run(in theory), he can spell Erstad because we all know asking Erstad to play 150 games in the OF isn't gonna happen, and he can be a great late game asset. But fact is, Oz is in love with having his 'grinders' out there in LF and CF.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) Just a couple quick comparisons I came up with off the top of my head: Alfonso Soriano through 394 career ABs: 98H | 55R | 25 2B | 9HR | 38RBI | .249/.280/.391/.670 Aramis Ramirez through 399 career ABs: 89H | 29R | 16 2B | 7HR | 38RBI | .223/.283/.326/.609 Brian Anderson through 399 career ABs: 88H | 49R | 24 2B | 10HR | 36RBI | .221/.281/.361/.642 Miguel Tejada through 400 career ABs: 91H | 55R | 21 2B | 10HR | 48RBI | .228/.293/.370/.663 Paul Konerko through 398 career ABs: 93H | 42R | 14 2B | 13HR | 48RBI | .234/.286/.372/.658 Troy Glaus through 400 career ABs: 93H | 59R | 26 2B | 12HR | 53RBI | .233/.301/.388 /.689 So yeah, Brian Anderson is pretty f***ed. I'm gonna have to ask you not to go and throw simple facts into this disillusioned argument mister.
  5. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) That was my point in summing it up. Im not going to repeat all the things on here that keep repeated over and over about him. Say all you want about Brian this and Brian that, but last year he sucked and looked nervous, scared and clueless at the plate! And luckily, the 2006 stats don't carry over to BA's first AB in 2007....well what would be his first AB of 2007 if he made the team. Fact remains, Anderson is our best option in CF defensively, and for consistency. Yet, because Ozzie doesn't care for him, for whatever reasons I don't care about, he won't get a fair shake, and we'll go with the ever speedy Erstad/Pods/Dye OF.
  6. I was a bit confused at the time, but still kinda liked the deal when it went down. I'm still a big proponent of the trade though. I think Masset and Dank's arms are worth exchanging for an iffy starter who we weren't really sure what we had in.
  7. I tell ya what, Bobby has the gas to bring it in 07 The Show, but he also is lacking in the control. I've put him in for 2 saves so far, and its been a bit of an adventure both times. Also, after 5 IP, Javy Vasquez was struggling to get anyone out, and ended up giving up 12 hits I think in 5+ innings.....no way you can say 'unrealistic' to that!!!
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) Just like Freddy Garcia was Guillen's boy? That didn't stop him from getting shipped off, though many thought it would. I don't think it's obvious at all that Ozzie isn't going to play BA because he isn't his 'boy'. BA also isn't in a contract year, nor is he gonna fetch someone in a trade that KW drools over either. Saying its because BA isnt Guillen's boy is just my way of saying once you have even the smallest rift between Guillen and a player, all you hear about is that guy amidst trade rumors, etc. To say Guillen is a BA supporter, beyond what he has to be as the ballclubs manager, is a big stretch.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:04 AM) Right. Ozzie Guillen just hates young players. See: Ryan Sweeney, Jon Garland, Danks, Boone Logan who he gave a great chance to last year. Anderson probably belongs in AAA for another half-season. I don't see how some of you don't see that. Well lets see....Garland was a starting pitcher for us for 3.5 seasons before Guillen was named manager.. Sweeney has absolutely no shot at making this team Danks, well what choice does Ozzie have as the 5th starter? Its either a young, more talented Danks or a young but unproven, wild Floyd. Logan...well when someone pitches like he did in ST, and there aren't many other options that are plausible, thats what happens. Besides, I don't see anyone blaming it on Ozzie not playing BA because he is young. Ozzie isn't going to play BA because BA isn't one of Guillen's boys, thats pretty obvious. Name a better option for CF that this team has, right now, than Brian Anderson.
  10. I'm not assuming he is going to get hurt. But I AM assuming he'll need days off, thats what we have Mack for. What I am saying is, Dye defensively is about average, not stellar. Erstad's defense isn't what it used to be. I'm sure it will be solid, but obviously not what it was in his prime Angels days. Therefore, we need a CFer..a REAL CFer, that can play the gaps, throw the glove around. I don't care if BA hits only .250, its worth it to me, to have a CFer that you KNOW will go get almost anything hit to him. An outfield of Erstad/Pods/Dye isn't going to run anything down in the gaps. Everyone knows that Pods defensively is marginal at best. With that combo in the OF, we will struggle defensively, period. Pods has no real place on this team IMO anymore, but because he is one of Ozzies boys, he'll be out there everyday, showing that fantastic defense we've grown weary of from him.
  11. Problem is, even in a good year, Pods can't hold BA's jockstrap in terms of defense. I'd rather trot Erstad out there in LF everyday, have Mack rotate in LF when Erstad is hurt or needs a day off, and leave the other 2 OF slots alone with BA and Dye.
  12. Oh great... IF, and its a big if, Pods is ready to go in the 1st or 2nd week of the season, I'm almost guaranteeing we're gonna see a STELLAR outfield of Pods/Erstad/Dye
  13. IMO so far, ML07: The Show is far and away better than 2k07...but of course I'm only playing them on PS2. If I owned a PS3, I would wait on The Show 07 to release in April, its completely worth it over 2k07. For you XBox360 owners, can't help ya there 3 games into my franchise on The Show, and I'm 2-1(accidentally simulated Buehrles start and lost 12-1). With sliders set the way I want, I get about the right amount of hits, and against a guy like Sabathia, I justifiably struggled mightily. But some humor came out of the 1st game. Sabathia left the game with a 3-1 lead, and Joe Borowski came in and imploded . I went up 6-3 going into the 9th, brought in Jenks, and then barely held on 6-5. Crede bobbled a line shot right to him, then whilst trying to hurry the throw, threw the ball away. It was tense, and fun stuff. I am loving The Show so far!! ANd so so much control over everything in the franchise, down to every little facet of being an owner.
  14. I decided on MLB07 The Show on PS2 over 2K7. Started my franchise after lots of meddling with the financial part of things. Contreras vs. Sabathia....Sabathia had about 11 Ks through 7 IP, but going to the bottom of the 8th, I was ahead 3-2 on a Konerko 3 run homer. Uribe was tryingto legout an infield single, and.....it froze....man I hate that with a passion.
  15. Somehow I have a feeling that the deck is heavily stacked against BA making the team...its sad, but Guillen would rather trot out a dead horse(AKA Pods) in left once he is healthy, and Erstad in center, than have Erstad in left, BA in center and Pods at home or wherever the hell besides in the lineup.
  16. Spring Training or not, when a guy is out there trying to impress and win a job in the bullpen, and gets constantly torched, never making his pitches, etc...it DOES say alot, regardless of actual stats.
  17. In the history of the world, have we ever had a starting pitcher go out and ...dominate in a Spring Training start? Seriously, I'd love to see it just once...
  18. Game about to start, I hope we finally see a starting pitcher that doesn't implode in 3 IP. I could be in here talking to myself all day too it seems, late start for a gamethread!!
  19. Bases loaded, none out..and 1 run... Lollerskaters, this IS the White Sox team I know and love
  20. I know, I know...its Spring Training, working on pitches..blah blah blah....but.. Is it too much for one of our guys, just once, to go out there and have some success against Arizona?
  21. 4/52 is a true meet in the middle offer, and if we can get Buehrle to ink at that, then there should be absolutely no hesitation. I know that 4th year will make JR cry to himself at night, but sometimes, you just gotta forget that Jamie Navarro ever existed.
  22. I got hooked on Jericho by watching the entire series 1 on cbs.com. Very quality show, new episode tonight that I really hope I can remember to wake up for. Was nice to see that perhaps...perhaps Hawkins DOES have a self-conscious, and that Jake isn't exactly squeaky clean himself.
