QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Pierre is not injury prone and that's an asinine statement but what is not ist that you cna't have two of your outfielders combine for less than 5 homers. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) Our defense would have one and a half arms. Arow can throw, and the other two have noodle arms. The range would be good, but runners wouldnt think twice about taking another base on Pierre's and Pods' arm. Quoted for the most truth in the thread.
-
Unfortunately Olivo has his great arm, and that apparently is about it. Not terribly accurate arm, bad game caller, and not much of a hitter. Reed was the one alot of us didn't want to lose, but fortunately Duane Schaffer and the staff made us feel better about it with Brian Anderson.

Ya, and that kind of retort is uncalled for. We don't care much for personal insults on here. Consider it edited out. -

:headshake WHO GIVES A f*** about attendance gripes from press who like to continue to harp on it? The attendance is up this year, and will continue to rise during the summer. Just another reporter writing about the passe thing to write about, when it comes to teh Sox. -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) Hey, I love Frank as much as the next guy, but he wont be here next year regardless if we get Schmidt or not. Management hates him. I'd rather have an ace than nothing at all. All the good free agent pitchers will be paid 8 mill plus (see Eric Milton last year). I'd rather have Schmidt at 10 then Milt at 8. Management hates him? You do know that Frank is the prize possession of Reinsdorf dont you? Frank will either be back after the team lets him exercise his own option, or will come back at a lower price after both options are declined mutually. JR has seen what happened with Fisk and the fiasco thereafter. Thomas won't be walking away from the Southside. Konerko, on the other hand...

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) If Reinsdorf and co. are willing to take on Schmidt, this would be a ridiculous move not to make. Assuming we let the Big Hurt walk, we get a nice chunk of that 10 million he is owed next year, and our staff looks like this. Buehrle Schmidt Garcia Garland Contreras I would assume McCarthy would be gone in the Schmidt deal, along with either Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. You can't make an omellette without breaking a few eggs, right? Schmidt is an amazing starting pitcher, who has slumped a bit this season, but that is the only reason the Giants consider him tradeable. Just look at the stats; he hasn't had an ERA above 3.45 since 2001. The guy is a workhorse, and any team that has aspirations of winning its first World Series in nine decades would piss their pants to get him. However, I don't expect to see Jason Schmidt in a White Sox uniform. He would possibly put this team over the top, but at his worst would still be better than El Duque/ B-Mac. So, we'd rather let our team icon and future HOFer walk, so that we can bring in a so-so Jason Schmidt at $10 million next year? SIGN ME UP!! I'm passing on Jason Schmidt. Also getting tired of reading the "MLB_player_01 is on his last yar of contract/needs to be traded/on the block, lets go get him! (even if we don't really need him)." Can't we as Sox fans for ONCE just sit back, see what this team is accomplishing WITH THE PLAYERS WE HAVE, and just say "Wow."

McCarthy out of rotation; to bullpen as swingman
Capn12 replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't want to see Cotts in any starting rotations! The kid has blossomed in his current role, and arguable our best reliever right now. Lets not sit here and b**** about him not stepping his game up for 2 years, then when he does finally settle in, decide to move him around again. He has found his niche. -
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) No they don't. The Twins have used 5 starters even with days off. They had Monday off and started Lohse tonight. Who, might I add, is complete s*** this year. Lohse is BAD right now.
-
Jon f***ING Garland...
-
And after the 9 straight wins by Cleveland, it appears they have run into the buzzsaw known as the Boston Red Sox 9-2 final
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) He started hitting right after I made this sig. I can't take it down now. Some may not agree...but IMO all our guys are starting to hit when needed...No one is mired in a long slump at the moment really.
-
Jab, I think once Dye gets to .270 man, you may have to retire that sig!
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) McCarthy looks like he has a good curveball. But I also saw that he has a straight 91 MPH fastball with no movement whatsoever. That pitch will get killed in the big leagues. When McCarthy isnt getting the changeup over the plate consistently, like tonight....guys are gonna let that curveball go, and sit on deadred Koch-esque fastballs.
-
BOTH Frank and Carl have to play 3-4 games a week, no way around it. Everett has been money in his own right. If that means sitting Pods a bit, so be it because Everett and Frank are hitting the ball right now. Ride them while they are both semi-hot
-
haha! That pitcher was turning the other way and getting ready to haul ass.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) BMac actually pitched pretty well tonight until the 5th inning. Dye got a horrible jump on a ball that cost him 2 runs. I dunno...seemed he was having major trouble with the changeup, and falling behind hitters after first pitch strike. 4 walks out of a guy with a history of good control, and an average to above average fastball at best...that is asking for trouble.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Probably a good time to get him in. Game kinda on the line - get him involved with the team , but even if he gives up a long one, we are still winning. Then it's Hermy time. Actually...good call ottawa..good time to put Shinjo in -

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Cotts is better than Marte, just like my dead grandmother is. Shingo is going to lay the place to waste like. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) I know this might be an annoyance to some people, but I just got home -- can someone give me a slight recap on what's happened? I'd appreciate it a whole lot. If not, that's cool too. McCarthy didnt have his control, couldn't get the changeup over and struggled. walked 4 or 5 in 4.2 IP, and then we had a Vizcaino sighting, which resulted in 2 HRs..our offense has been great against s***ty pitching, but our s***ty pitchers (read: Vizcaino) gave runs back/ And Cotts is mother f***ing MONEY. -
Batman Begins IMO was a VERY well done film. Was about time that they spent some time working on the "training" of Bruce Wayne, and I thought Bale did an excellent job in taking over the tights.

I'm too lazy to go look up who it was that said it, but they were SPOT on when they said when Crediocre is at the plate, he looks like he is swinging Thor's Hammer up there.
