I'm severely heartbroken that I don't get to see Mr. Pods leading off the game tonight.

Damn you SQL, and your "Too many connections" crap!! That was nice of us to run ourselves out of the inning, literally.

Sounds like it coulda been a deal spurred on by 2 managers disgusted at what they saw, and pressed for a move sooner than later to fix their needs....hope someone else confirms this soon enough.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I didn't know about a bad back until now, but on the surface, how can you not like this deal? We gave up a guy with picked up for nothing to get a solid RH reliever, who will step right into the set up role. Even if his back acts up, we still lost nothing. Great move, especially this early in the season... Guaranteed. You do this deal in July, and you give up a fairly good prospect no question.

Tell ya what, gonna change the title and unpin it for now until we know for CERTAIN. I don't trust Levine much at all for obvious reasons.

I still think it was done for the game events...and KW worked his ass off to get a 'pen arm...or maybe not

Ya, ESPN1000 has said it repeatedly, but I'd like to have another source myself...

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) I'm excited as hell about this trade. Either way, we weren't going to use Lopez. But, does anyone know what kind of injury he had this year? And does he have a history with injuries? 4/15/06 David Wells Placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 13) with a right knee sprain. 4/12/06 David Riske Placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 5) with a lower back strain. from the Red Sox page.

Actually, after the surprise wore off of me...this is a DAMN fine deal. Wow, way to pull the trigger Kenny.

Sorry, I should have phrased that better I guess. I meant give me players with MLB experience and success over any semi-decent player in our system any day of the week.
-
David Riske
Just heard it myself. Haven't followed him this year, but in the past, Riske was pretty damn good...hmm, guess its the ole "Prospects are only prospects, give me MLB ready players."

Not sure HOW you mistype 'impossible' for 'assured'

Warnings werent issued till after the SECOND time AJ got hit. Javy said after the game that he knew AJ was getting thrown at the first time it happened....he had time to return the favor, so to speak. Most MLB umps aren't gonna throw a pitcher out arbitrarily without issuing a warning first, which would have happened AFTER Javy returned the favor theoretically.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:16 AM) Threw inside to Blalock, not at him. If Blalock can hit it, it doesnt count. If you have mlb.tv, go back and watch it again. Go to about 1:53:40 into it. Watch that first pitch from Tracey again, and tell me he wasn't throwing at him....that was NOT just an inside pitch. The intent was there. I would show the screenshot from mlb.tv myself if I thought it was legal.

Thing is BD, had Javy retaliated right away, and he says he knew it was intentional the first time, then its all a moot point. This falls on Vasquez's shoulders, not Tracey. Ozzies anger was harshly misplaced.

That Gnarls Barkley performance at the MTV Video Awards is a classic now IMO. Anyone that hasn't seen it should check it out.

Just to reiterate, for the 4 MILLIONTH time...Tracey threw at Blaylock not once, but TWICE. The fault here is on Vasquez, NOT Tracey...but instead, Ozzie rips into Tracey in plain view...its bushleague.

If, like Javy said, he "knew" that they hit AJ on purpose the first time, then by god he better damn well return the favor right away, before warnings get fired off. Don't use some ex post facto bulls*** about "Yeah, I knew they were throwing at AJ." Man up already and retaliate, jeez.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) Based on this logic, maybe the entire team should of watched AJ get decked by Barrett and did nothing. The idea of whether or not to plunk a ranger shouldnt be even debated. Its part of the game. The question of who should of plunked him, after vazquez pussed out is another story. I'm not saying we shouldn't have retaliated ssi...was moreso a smartass resposne back at mr. genius. Don't think he got the jist of what DBAH0 was saying...trust me, I wanted Javy to plant a ball in someones back.
- Umm, WTF?
